Chapter Two: Ladybug Problems
Ladybug pursed her lips as she spotted a miniature Chat Noir on the top of the Eiffel Tower. True, the Eiffel Tower still caused her nightmares after that whole Volpina situation, but she knew that she had to conquer that fear. Besides, Adrien was safe.
Boy, was she going to have a talk with that cat.
She landed in front of him neatly and got up, dusting herself off. "Here already, Bugaboo?" Chat Noir said, grinning at her. "I hear you got a part in the Collège Françoise Dupont's play."
"Yes, I did - wait, how did you know that?" Ladybug asked him suspiciously.
"I - uh -" Chat rubbed his neck nervously. "I heard it from your friend Adrien," he said, leaning on his pole, all nervousness gone.
"Right, yeah - well, I need to talk to you," Ladybug began. "Why didn't you show up when I called you? I know you can be late or even lazy sometimes, but today was no exception. If you were taking another one of your stupid cat naps, I will kick you off the Eiffel Tower - so hard that you'll be sorry."
Chat blinked. "Look, I'm sorry, I was just - uh - I had another . . . really important thing to do?" He smiled widely as if to say, It's fine.
"And what, may I ask, is more important than not fighting an akuma?" Ladybug asked, crossing her arms and frowning.
His shoulders slumped. "Yeah, I was sleeping," he muttered. "Sorry, Ladybug."
The heroine immediately regretted her harsh words. Yes, she did need to lecture him sometimes, but maybe this time she had gone too far. To cheer him up, she walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He blushed profusely and quickly turned his head to face her, his eyes wide.
Ladybug smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, Chat," she said, her cheeks pink. "That was the only way I could cheer you up."
"I - there's no . . . need . . . to be sorry, my lady," Chat Noir faltered, still taking in what had just happened.
"No, I'm sorry for going too far," she said.
"I shouldn't have been late," he said, putting an arm around her shoulder. "Now, shall we patrol this fine lovely evening, Bugaboo?"
"Let's go," Ladybug said, trying not to wince at her partner's nickname for her.
Chat Noir used his staff to "fly" off of the Eiffel Tower, and Ladybug swung her yo-yo to swing to the nearby roof.
Marinette flopped onto her bed.
"Oh, Tikki, what have I done?" she mumbled. "I'm a superhero of Paris, a busy schoolgirl, and now an actress?"
"I think you can do it," Tikki said encouragingly. "Besides, you're going to act with Adrien!"
"But tomorrow is when we start to read the scripts, Tikki," Marinette said, glancing at her Kwami. "I'm so nervous."
"You're not even going to start rehearsing, and you're scared about a script? You're Ladybug, and a script will stop you?" Tikki said, giggling.
"I don't know, Tikki," Marinette sighed, rolling onto her side. "I'm just a hot mess."
"Ah, Ladybug, you're here!" Ms. Bustier exclaimed as the spotted heroine walked through the doors of the auditorium. "Just on time, too!"
"Great!" Ladybug said, flashing the teacher a thumbs-up. Adrien looked quite nervous, sitting on the stage's edge.
Ladybug walked over to where he was sitting and tapped his shoulder. He looked up, and a happy expression filled his face.
"Hey, Adrien," Ladybug said, sitting down next to him, her cheeks heating up. "I'm a little nervous."
"I am, too," he admitted. "Even if it's just reading the script."
"But don't we still have to audition for all the other characters?" Ladybug asked, already knowing the answer.
"We did that this morning. Nino is going to be Sir Claude, and that girl named Chloe is Madame Marceline."
"Should suit her well," Ladybug mumbled, eyeing the rich, snobby girl with disgust.
"You don't like Chloe?" Adrien asked, amused.
"Who doesn't?" she complained.
"I didn't know you were acquainted with her," Adrien said.
"Oh, she's akumatized over half the people in this town," she replied casually. "Like that's a good -"
"Students!" Ms. Bustier said, clapping her hands to get attention. "You should all have a copy of the scripts. I will be the stage directions. Ahem." She cleared her throat. "Narrator appears on stage."
Ladybug and Adrien got up and scooted off to the side as Nathaniel Kurtzberg walked onto the stage.
"You've all heard of the Das - Dis - Des Taches Mansion, right?" Nathaniel began, stumbling over the words.
"Narrator waits for people to shake their heads," Ms. Bustier read.
"No?" Nathaniel said. "Let me tell you. There was a girl by the name of Coccinelle -"
"Enter Coccinelle," Ms. Bustier instructed. Ladybug walked onto the stage.
" - and she was very proud of her parents' mansion," Nathaniel finished.
"Enter Hyacinth."
A girl who looked a lot like Ladybug walked onto the stage.
"She was told, from a very young age, that she would inherit the mansion," Nathaniel said. He stepped off to the side as the girl started to speak.
"My dear Coccinelle," the girl said, "you will someday inherit this mansion."
"Oh, really, Mama?" Ladybug read. "When?"
"When you are older, Petite Dame," the girl said. "But I must go now, for your father awaits me."
"Exit Hyacinth," Ms. Bustier directed. The girl slowly backed away from her position on the stage.
"But sadly, the girl was horrible and cruel," Nathaniel continued, squinting at his script. "She was also extremely foolish and gullible. After she had inherited the mansion when her parents died, she held many the parties."
A paper cup was thrown at Ladybug. She caught it as the teacher said, "Coccinelle drinks from the cup and drops dead."
Ladybug pretended to sip the invisible drink. "An enemy slipped poison into her drink that night, and she fell dead," Nathaniel said. The superheroine made a pretend gagging noise and fell to the ground. Some students laughed.
Even if it was just acting, Adrien felt a stab in his heart when he saw his crush pretend to die. He desperately hoped that would never happen to her.
"All right! Let's stop there for today!" Ms. Bustier said after an hour of practicing. "Thanks, Ladybug."
"No problem," Ladybug said, smiling.
People started to file out of the auditorium, but Ladybug remained. She wanted some time to relax and think things through before transforming back into Marinette.
"Ladybug?"
She whirled around, seeing Adrien behind her. Ladybug blushed pink. She wasn't as nervous around him as she was when she was Marinette.
"Why are you here? Don't you have superhero-y things to attend to?" he asked, rubbing his neck.
Ladybug shook her head. "I have patrol tonight, but that's not for several more hours. Why?"
Adrien shrugged. "I just wanted to make sure you weren't upset or something."
Ladybug felt touched and turned a darker shade of pink. This is why she loved him so much - Adrien was kind and sweet.
"I-I'm not upset, but thanks for asking," Ladybug said, turning away to hide her red face. Then she glanced back up at him.
Adrien's phone beeped. He glanced down at it, and his eyes widened. "Yeesh, I'm going to be late for my photoshoot! Bye, LB! See you later!" he called, starting to run.
LB? Ladybug shook her head at her new nickname and said, "Spots off." Tikki flew out of her earrings and giggled. "Cute nickname," the Kwami said.
"Yeah," Marinette said quietly. "Let's go."
Picture Day.
For boys, it means to slap on a nice shirt, decent pants, and shoes that don't have mud on them.
For girls, however, it means planning your outfit, doing makeup, doing your hair, etc.
Marinette rarely put on makeup, so she always skipped that step. She had to, anyway, because she had slept in late.
She had grabbed a dress and a cardigan and slipped into it, picking black tights and red flats to go along with the outfit. Her hair had been let down, and Tikki was braiding two small braids and then braiding it in the back with a red ribbon to finish off the outfit.
"Dear, you look wonderful," Sabine remarked. Marinette smiled sleepily and slowly started to eat her bowl of cereal.
"Thanks, Maman," Marinette said, her eyes closing briefly for a second before snapping opening. There had been another akuma attack, and it had taken most of the night.
Her father waltzed into the kitchen, humming the Ladybug and Chat Noir theme the News Channel played whenever they showed the superheroes. "My daughter, looking like a famous hero!" he sang.
What? "Thanks, Papa," Marinette said, hugging her father. "I gotta go to school, or I'll be late."
She grabbed her backpack and opened the door, saying, "Goodbye, Maman and Papa!" over her shoulder.
She quickly ran to school, panting by the time she reached the stairs. Walking to her locker, she met up with Alya.
"Girl, I didn't know you were a fan!" Alya said, squeezing her friend's hand.
"What do you mean? Fan of what?" Marinette said, confused. As they walked into their classroom, she gathered more looks and stares.
"Nice job! You look like her!" Rose said, flashing her a smile. Nino gave her a thumbs up. Adrien seemed too tired and looked like he was about to fall asleep.
Freakishly enough, Alya was dressed in orange and white, looking like Rena Rouge; Nino was wearing a green Sunday shirt with green pants, looking like Carapace; and Chloe was wearing yellow and black, looking like Queen Bee. Adrien was dressed in his usual clothing.
"Good morning, class," Ms. Bustier said, smiling warmly at her students.
"Good morning, Ms. Bustier!" the class chanted back. Even Chloe participated in saying the greeting.
As Marinette reached for her pencil case, she caught sight of her outfit and clapped a hand over her mouth to stop herself from yelling in horror.
She had thrown on a simple, red dress with a black cardigan. Everything she was wearing was black and red.
In other words, she looked like Ladybug.
To stop herself from having a meltdown too soon, she raised her hand and asked to go to the bathroom.
Once she had locked herself in a stall, she started to shriek in terror.
"Tikki, why didn't you tell me?" Marinette moaned. "Now Adrien's going to know that I'm Ladybug!"
"Shh, it's fine," Tikki said, looking nervous, trying to comfort her Miraculous wielder. "No one will notice. Just say you're a fan!"
Marinette put her head in her hands.
"Besides, your teacher already told you that you're the first class to take your pictures! It's too late," Tikki continued.
Marinette slowly got up and unlocked herself from the stall. She dragged herself back to class and glumly took a seat next to Alya. Not ten seconds later was the photographer calling for their photo.
She shot Chloe daggers from her eyes as they got into alphabetical order. Of course she was next to Adrien.
She got behind Juleka and their class waited for instructions. Adrien was called first for his photo, and on the list went.
When Marinette's turn came, she smiled as brightly as she could.
"Amazing!" the photographer exclaimed. "You look just like Ladybug!" He mumbled something she couldn't catch.
Her frown became deeper and Tikki fidgeted inside her Holder's jacket.
"You're free to go," he said finally.
Marinette hopped off the school and headed back to her classroom.
She was in a bad mood all day. As soon as she arrived home, she groaned and flopped onto her bed.
"Marinette!! The play!!" Tikki cried.
Marinette sat up, a look of horror on her face. "The play! I forgot! Oh no, Adrien's gonna be mad - Tikki, spots on!"
"Where is she?" Ms. Bustier mused.
"Just a few more minutes, please," Adrien pleaded. He certainly did not want Chloe to rehearse with him today, and he just knew that Ladybug would show up.
"We don't have time, Adrien," Mr. Damocles said. "You only get until four to rehearse today because of construction work."
Adrien glanced at the doors once more before hanging his head and turning around.
Suddenly the doors slammed open and Adrien twirled around to see Ladybug, standing in the middle of the open doors.
"Sorry I was late," she said, walking up the aisle. "Superhero things to do. Anyway, are we good?"
"Yes, Ladybug," Ms. Bustier said, turning around. "Thanks for showing up."
"Great timing," Adrien whispered to Ladybug. They both turned pink as Ladybug mumbled, "Th-thanks, Adrien." The two glanced down at the floor. Neither of them noticed Chloe scowling at the lovebirds, Nino smirking at his friend's crush, or Alya frowning and looking away.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
I'm actually posting on time! Woo!
Sorry for the Ladynoir scene, guys, it was too tempting to put it in XD there also may or may not be an Adrienette scene in an upcoming chapter . . .
Is there any other crossovers with Miraculous and other TV shows that you'd like to see? I like reading (and writing!) fanfictions about these, especially ones that *sigh* break the love square.
I know.
But I break the love square all the time! I smash it to bits and pieces until nothing but ultra-fine dust is left!
Anyway, hope you liked this chapter! What did you think?
Thanks for reading, and have a "paw"some day!
