Transformation
"I understand, so you simply wished to be human?" Said Nanami after Hikari had finished explaining exactly what she was.
"I did but now of course that form is dying. I will have no choice but to return to the monstrous yokai I was before."
"You don't know that is will be the same as before. I know that you have gotten so much nicer since I first met you. It will be different I'm sure it will."
"How can you say such a thing, even after all I have told you?"
"Because I have faith in you and I know that you are not a monster." Hikari smiled.
"Thank you Nanami."
"Oh isn't this touching." Said a cold voice from behind them. Hikari immediately stepped in front of Nanami to protect her. Merissa stood with a fake smile of her face in the same outfit she was in when they first met.
"Alright Merissa stop with all this. What exactly is it that you want?"
"I only want you life, not that hard. Ryuu will be happy if he is avenged."
"Do not speak of him as of you knew him."
"I knew him much better than you did. I was the one that was by his side all those years. Then you came along and put of the blue I lost the man I loved. He fell under your sickly charm."
"I have no such thing. Ryuu hated you, he hated the way you clung to him like a child. The way you relied on him too much. He hated it, he told me." Anger flared up inside Merissa.
"Lies! Ryuu loved me he did. I was his one and only and of you never showed up he would still be alive right now. By my side, laughing like he used to. Ice and fire can never be one you knew this and yet you put him at risk."
"If those are the rules we are playing by then you too put him at risk. Fore and water cannot be one either, they are apposing elements."
"Perhaps but the difference between you and I is that cared for him. I would never have used my black magic on him. I could control myself where as you are nothing but a rabid monster that needs to die in order for us all to be safe. As if placing yourself within a human form will change anything. You are still the monster you were the day you kill Ryuu that will never change."
"Your wrong." Shouted Nanami. Hikari looked around at her with wide eyes. It was dangerous for her to speak in such a way to a yokai. She was putting herself in danger. "Hikari is not a monster. She is kind I have seen it with my own eyes. I saw her stop and help up a small child in the streets when they fell over. I saw her give her lunch to a homeless man on the street. She brought me lunch when I had none without being asked. She is a kind person, kinder than anyone I have ever met. She might not be human but that doesn't matter." There were tears steaming down her face now. "She is my best friend and I will not let you say such untrue things. You don't even know her because if you...you would never say a thing against her." She finished and wiped the tears from her face.
"Nanami..." Hikari said helping to wipe away her salty tears.
"The fox was right then. I see you really do care for this human."
"Fox?" Repeated Nanami. "Tomoe, what have you done with Tomoe?"
"Why does it matter?"
"Answer the question Merissa." Said Hikari with a threatening voice.
"Of my what is this I see? The mention of that fox has made you both so anger. Could it be that you two share feelings of love for that fox?" When neither Nanami or Hikari answered Merissa carried on. "It seems so how unfortunate. A human in love with a yokai a relationship that is considered taboo. Not to mention that you are God and you have fallen for your own familiar. Then there is Hikari, ice falling for fire. History repeats itself and he is sure to end up dead just as poor Ryuu did."
"What have you done with him?" Glared Hikari. The look in her eye made Merissa back of slightly. She looked at her like she was prey and she would be dead in an instant. This however only proved to her that the monster that killed the man she loved still lived with her.
"Oh nothing really. Just trapped him in a watery prison from which he cannot escape. I couldn't have him charging in on my fun now could I? Not after all the time I have spent searching for you Hikari. They told me that I was wasting me time you know? They said I was chasing a ghost, that you were long since dead but I knew better than to believe that and now her you are stood in front of me. I never would have thought to look for you in the human world, you got me there."
"If you truly plan to kill me then get on with it." Said Hikari as the cave became much colder. Hikari could feel a strong tingling sensation in her fingertips. A feeling she had not felt for a very long time. Hikari began to shiver.
"Kill you? I do yes but I intend to make you suffer first. The human..l you care for her just like I cared for Ryuu. Perhaps if I made you watch as I killed her first you will understand the pain I was in when I found out my love fate."
"You pain? Do you not think that I was in pain too? I was the one that killed him, I killed the one man that I ever loved."
"Do not speak to me of love. You know no such thing. Now step aside while I take the life of something precious to you."
"Not a chance." Said Hikari. Merissa glared and swiped her left hand to the right and a arc of jet like water towards Hikari who was standing in front of a dazed looking Nanami. The tingling sensation grew much large in Hikari's fingers and before she knew it her hand was out in front of her and the arc of water completely froze mid air. "Water freezes oh so easily." Said Hikari in a slightly evil voice. Then her skin began to glow a bright white colour and her hair seemed to grow just a little longer. Her body became much more defined and it became more curvy too. Her eyes glistened that little bit more, her skin became smoother and shone like rays of sunlight hitting a sheet of freshly fallen snow on a cold winters day. The most noticeable change was that top the top of her head two fluffy white ears appeared. From just above her bum appeared a long white tail much like Tomoe's. They were a brilliant white and looked really soft. Her nails grew until they became long and sharp like Tomoe's. The temperature in the cave continued to drop but only Hikari seemed un affected by it. Nanami curled up in a ball to try and keep warm. Merissa was shaking slightly but it was hard to tell weather it was because she was cold or she was terrified of the girl in front of her. Nanami watched as snow flakes began to fall from the cave ceiling and the ground at Hikari's bare feet frozen completely. Hikari smiled to herself seeing the terror on Merissa's face. She flicked her hair and looked at Merissa with a knowing gaze. "Now then shall we see what you have learnt since you are I last met in battle?.."
