Chapter 3

Demonification

It's not any other night in particular. The path up ahead is filled with cold breezing air. Adding with the heavy pressure the demon drove towards the only direction he was facing. Walking slowly and silently with the crickets occupying the silent night. Isolating from his recent site where he shed most of his tears.

It was a pain to depart the people you love. Especially when they truly care about you. That demon felt the same, however there's always been time for significant matters that'll needed to put in prior.

"Please, forgive me. For I have lied to you. For breaking the promise we both vowed. Forgive me. Until we meet once again." He whispered in a raspy tone. His throat was dry and almost unable to utter a word.

This exact time, he would be visiting Muzan once again to partially undergo the process of metamorphosis (don't translate to Japanese).

His mind is full of regret and agony. Not wanting any of these to happen. But it's for the sake of humanity. Hundreds or even thousands of people would've been died from that exact day. It was a village yet it was far the biggest and largest village he have ever been to. So there were exactly thousands of residents living.

Once he finally gained his composure, he clapped his hands. Teleporting him back to Muzan's fortress, which he saw a week ago. Not to mention, this fortress is infinite and there's no end. The only way to get in is by blood demon arts. 2 years ago, it was Nakime, the biwa woman, who has the hold of the fortress. Now, it was only Muzan and his blood demon art.

Now that the air is filled with emptiness. Signifying him that he has arrived back. Feeling the cold and heavy pressure behind his back. There he felt Muzan's presence.

As much as he expected, Muzan now held the "medicine" that supposed to turn him deeper being a demon. Showing a mundane expression beneath the neutral face of his. Glaring seriously at the syringe with a maroon colored liquid inside of it.

Thinking about it, he wanted to avoid it. But he knew he couldn't. He knew to himself that he was the cause of his own affliction. However, he wanted to remember the people whom he dearly love.

It's really a tough decision, isn't it?

"Have you made up your mind?" This was a rare occasion.

Muzan's voice is gentle and soft. Why is that? Tanjirou couldn't see his face entirely, but his voice is soothing like he used to hear it before. Determining that it was actually Muzan, he rarely shows any kindness to anyone. But this is really weird and sudden. A demon himself sounded like a real human.

Leaving a shocking face made him disgusted with himself. He's a demon, yet he acts out of it. Now, he must act like a demon to maintain and control over his demon body.

"Forgive me, Muzan-sama." Is all Tanjirou could reply back.

Ever since he became a demon, he wasn't as social as before. He became dull as well but still left with emotions and will.

"After taking this medicine, head over to the nearest village and find someone to demonize. Just share some of your blood and my cells will do the work." Tanjirou was displeased. His voice changed back into his cold and raspy voice.

Earlier, his voice was gentle. So Muzan can only cope up a kind pleasing personality for a few seconds. That wasn't impressive. But we can't compel the leader of all demons. Some demons have human emotions with them. So, most demons have a natural cold personality upon turning into one.

Tanjirou took the syringe from the cold hands of the demon before him. Trying to fill the atmosphere with assurance towards the demon leader. Wanting to convince the demon with abiding assistance.

Muzan gladly smiled along with his glowing red cat-like demon eyes. As a sign of departure, he faced the opposite direction towards a shoji door.

Glancing once again at Tanjirou, he said one last time.

"Also, from now on, you will be called Takashi. Demons with alter names are difficult to be identified by humans. But there's still a case that you'll differ from it. It would be beneficial in keeping it and get half-demonized. It'll be your own choice if you wanted to fully become one or partially. I'll be away to look for the Blue Spider Lily. Farewell, handle everything for me."

All Tanjirou could hear in the next second, was the clapping of hands and closing of shoji doors. Not being able to reply back to his master, he hesitantly injects the sharp thin needle of the syringe onto his vein, bulging from his cubital fossa. Pushing the plunger down to its flange. Shoving the whole liquid towards the targeted position until it traveled through his body. He was used to Shinobu's medicinal syringes, resulting for him to not feel any pain. Being a demon is no exception, it kinda help him avoid pain and agony. Although, it was already a wicked being a demon.

Throwing the syringe onto the hard wooden floor, he proceeded to drag his feet back to the human world. At a very coincidental moment, beside his position, was a village which was shining brightly at night. Probably to alarm the residents from harm. Not much that they're brave enough to face harm anyway.

"Must find someone to demonize."

Tanjirou, is officially known as Takashi, covered his face with the coat of his newly black and red checkered patterned haori. Hiding his identity to the townspeople as he come across an alleyway. The alleyway was a path close to the center of the village. On the village's usual cold air, was now filled with colder pressure after the demon walked silently pass the way. The night was silent, but he must find at least a single human to demonize for his first progress.

-Somewhere in the same village-

A bald, beaten, homeless man was lying weakly in the cold, rough and blooded ground. Surrounded by drunk men who were displeased by this man's appearance and condition.

The man was holding onto his ears as he avoided the men's harsh insults. Budging slightly towards a hidden spot to escape the cruel words of what he believed called as humans.

If only I could become a demon, I would be killing all of you. I will avenge those who've been mistreated poorly by humans. I will show you, the truth of this worthless world.

"Hey! Curfew is close. Let's retreat." The other guy said to his comrades.

I gotta run!

Rising up with his weakened feet with extreme exhaustion, the man ran quickly as fast as he could. Believing that he could escape those who beaten him, he was followed by a rubble came from his sport.

Hiding behind the wall of a building, breathing rapidly while peaking through to check for any more disturbances. The drunk men ignored the man as they separately went back to their respective houses.

Clenching his fist in anger, he gritted his lips until it bled. Punching the hard wooden wall, exerting full force causing his weak hands to bleed as well. He looked on his reflection on a paddle of water.

"I will surely have my revenge on you. You don't know how to treat humans equally. Then you must face the wrath of an agrieved homeless man!" He yelled under his breath releasing his inner emotions.

His body suddenly flinched when he felt something unusual behind his back. It's like something was weighing on both of his shoulders that was restraining him in place. He recoiled in fear and horror.

This feeling.

It was the exact feeling I felt back then.

Then this presence, could possibly be...

A demon.

He felt exhilaration all of a sudden.

This is my chance.

To become one!

He turned to look for the figure who stood horrifyingly.

This one gives a different vibe from the demon I've felt back then! This one might be powerful! This might be unanticipated but I'll accept it!

He approached the demon with confidence and hope. He couldn't see the demon's face due to his hood. But he has the urge to resume his intent.

"H-hey! A-are y-you a d-demon?!" The man asked the demon.

The pain and agony of his body wasn't a huge bother towards him. He just wanted to interact with this creature.

He felt the demon nod his head slightly but never did removed his hood to expose his demonic face. But the man could see the glimmering red eyes of the demon from beneath. He felt terribly horrified to this demon. He was looking at him without showing any kind emotion. He bowed down and held the demon's feet and begged the demon.

"P-please! I-I b-beseech you! T-turn m-me into a d-demon!" The man cried on the demon's feet.

He felt the demon looking at him coldly.

"How useful can you be when you become one?"

He flinched upon hearing him. The demon has a resonant voice, yet cold and raspy. That's what made the man felt even more petrified.

"I-I could k-kill people with m-my own w-wickedness." The man replied keeping his stuttering state.

That's right, I want myself to be wicked as I  want myself to be. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of it. I don't care for them anymore. They were just sinful and disgusting. I couldn't take the unfairness of this cruel world.

The demon was silent as the man became vigilant. Moments later, he failed to be watchful as his neck was inserted with the long, black and sharp nails of the demon before him. As he was lifted painfully onto the air effortlessly by the demon. He took a glance at the face of the mythical creature.

His eyes widen as he finally saw the demon's appearance. He has a manly and juvenile features. With a dark red scar on his left forehead. His eyes were pure maroon which shined upon hitting the light from the streetlights across the alleyway.

He was screaming in pain as he felt the demon's blood filling his veins. His blood was circulating quickly like he was suddenly struck by a lightning.

After quite some time, the demon threw the body of the man towards the wall with great force. To test if the man, who's now a demon, durable enough after receiving fair amount of blood from him.

The newly-became demon stood up on his knees. Leaving a huge crack to the wall from the powerful hurl of the demon. He didn't felt any pain anymore, it's like he healed himself naturally.

So this is from the blood that he transformed inside my body. This feels great. I feel like I'm immortal. Now let's begin slaughtering.

"Hold up."

The newly demon looked looked towards him.

"What is it, Takashi?" The demon blood is mixed with Takashi (Tanjirou) and Muzan's identities. So the demon can figure out their names.

"You must not tell others about me and Muzan-sama's identities. Before I could transfer my blood to you, I have activated Muzan's curse. Whenever you tell others about us, we will terminate you in an instant."

Takashi said placing his finger onto his lips signifying the demon to keep silent. The demon did not listen to his superior, rolling his demon eyes in mockery. He turned to leave without replying to Takashi.

Due to his disrespectful attitude, he was directly grabbed by Takashi in the neck. Gripping his neck forcefully and powerfully. Until the demon was suffocating to death. Takashi broke his neck and threw him on the ground.

The demon quickly attaches his head back to his body and stood in fear.

"You must not disrespect the demon executioner, understood? Keep my words in mind. Or else. We'll condemn you in a most violent way."

The demon nodded fearfully. Takashi is getting more ferocious than him. He must not underestimate this demon. Or else his wish will get dumped.

"Now, get lost. Try to multiply demons by yourself. If you could do that, I'll share more blood to you. Then you'll become stronger than every other demons."

With that, Takashi disappeared from his sight in a blink of an eye.

Demon's do not collide. If I betray, they'll condemn me. I will avenge myself first, before changing my life. I know you have sympathies, Takashi-sama. I didn't mentioned it before but I saw how pure your eyes were. But as I demon now I am, I will fulfill on what I truly wanted to do. To avenge the meek and devour humans. I will become ruthless and wicked as I can be.

In an obvious mystery, tons of screams can be heard at the rest of the night.

—————

"It's partly settled. I must consume blood before I become powerless. But knowing myself, I couldn't be a demon like Nezuko. Who could gain power by sleeping. Without any choice, I must do what Tamayo-san told me. Buy blood."

He proceeded to buy blood from a blood donation center. Although, people doubt his presence due to pressure he brings along with him. This went noticeable, but he didn't mind. The he kept himself hidden the more unsuspicious he could be. Not to mention, he became hideous after meeting Muzan.

There's nothing he could do next, but wait until his subordinate infects other people. He'll keep an eye on him to ensure the process. Though, he wouldn't be able to visit his former comrades. He missed them very much.

Actually, he wasn't supposed to miss them all. Humans who turned into demons will have a memory loss. In which, they couldn't remember the moments they cherished and suffered regarding to what they experienced before.

At this rate, Takashi is reminding himself about the future.

This is the first time, I've ever caused a murder.

A murder of turning someone into a criminal.

The murder...of killing myself, for the sake of few.

The murder...of leaving everyone selfishly.

The murder...of becoming a murderer.
