Chapter 1

News

Kanao woke up in a comfortable bedding. She looked at the room and saw herself laying comfortably on a bed with a warm blanket on top of her. Beside her bed, was her comrades, who looked joyful for she was wide awake, and looked worried as well for she was severely injured from her previous mission, though she didn't accomplished it.

"Kanao-san! We're glad you're awake!" Naho said happily.

"Kanao-san, you're finally awake. We've been waiting for you to wake up. We're glad that you're fully awake." Aoi said and smiled at Kanao.

Nezuko smiled genuinely and hugged her warmly.

Kanao didn't answer and looked at everyone. There was Inosuke, Zenitsu, Murata, Goto, Naho, Kiyo, Sumi, Aoi, and Nezuko.

She didn't remember what happened previously but she was saddened for a moment. She felt something missing, her comrades were incomplete. There was one missing.

Tanjirou.

She panicked and quickly sat up but they pushed her back down.

"Kanao-san, you're not fully healed yet. You must rest until you feel better." Aoi said restraining her with the help of others.

Out of all of them, Kanao was the strongest so they had to work together for her.

Kanao just stared at the ceiling while everyone was observing. Realising that she needs to be alone, Aoi told everyone to leave the room for her. After they all left, she just wondered off.

She was quiet all day and didn't even decide to talk to anyone that day. She wanted to ask where Tanjirou went. She tried to cry, it has been a long time she cried, but she didn't felt it right now. Because she believed that Tanjirou was on another mission, and that she don't need to worry anymore.

Eventually, she got tired once again and decided to sleep until Tanjirou come back home.

—————

Kanao woke up in a cold surface. She remembered the events earlier. Both Kanao and Tanjirou was fighting against a demon. It was not any other demon but was really strong. They didn't knew who killed or defeated that demon.

Just after she woke up, she observed the environment. It was peaceful and quiet. There was no more yells from people suffering in vain. No more fire spreading through the village. No more blood splashing around the battlefield. All was already done, but she was all alone.

Where's Tanjirou? I cannot feel his presence anymore. Where could he be?

She weakly got on her knees with the help of her sword. She looked over to her wounds, they were all severe. She ignored her injuries and decided to look where Tanjirou was. She started walking around the village but he was nowhere to be found.

Moments later, she felt nauseous and her head was sore. She held her head weakly and suddenly collapsed due to the pain of her head.

"Kanao, if you ever hear this, don't worry about me. I'll be in good condition. Just protect everyone for me until I get back home. I love you. I always do."

Tanjirou? Where are you? Where did you go?

—————

Kanao jumped and was awaken. She was sweating badly and looked around. She was in the Butterfly Estate, currently sitting on the bed she woke up earlier. She noticed that it was already night.

It was just a dream.

Or maybe a nightmare.

She slowly got up from the bed and wiped off her sweat. She was quite curious about something.

Is Tanjirou home?

She quickly ran out of the room to search for Tanjirou. Keeping everyone asleep, she didn't create a single sound while running. But after searching for a while, there was no glimpse of Tanjirou whatsoever.

Where could he be?

Suddenly, someone tapped her shoulder. She turned around and saw Nezuko tearing up a little.

What's wrong?

"Nezuko-san, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Kanao asked her soon-to-be sister in law.

"It was onii-chan, he hasn't came back home for a week now, ever since your previous mission. I'm quite scared that he might be missing or something. I don't want to lose nii-chan, nee-san. I don't want to lose him." She cried, holding tightly on my uniform.

Kanao stared onto her glimmering eyes. Looking within the emotions she let out with her sight. Pain and worry slowly filling up within those colors. It's partly relatable on her state. They both love Tanjirou so much that their emotions are starting to let out slowly and ephemerally.

If only Kanao could do everything at this moment. She could comfort Nezuko like they both comforted Kanao when she heard the news of Shinobu-sama's loss. Kanao could finally cry, she could cry as hard as she can if her emotions wanted to.

Kanao hugged Nezuko tightly like a gentle and loving mother. That's what she wished to be in the future. Having a family with him and being a mother to her own children. But how could she fulfill them, if she's all alone. She couldn't fulfill her wishes without any support from Tanjirou.

They cried on each others warmth for a while. Kanao started to feel exhausted from the tears she let out. She also felt Nezuko snoring quietly. Kanao carried her towards her bedroom. Must've been exhausted from the crying as well. She kissed her forehead when she laid her down on her bed before heading back towards her own room.

Walking quietly on the corridor, Kanao walked pass through Tanjirou's room. She looked at Tanjirou's stuff and noticed something valuable.

On top of the bedsheet, there lying a piece of cloth from Tanjirou's haori. It might have been ripped off by him. There was no reason why he did that but it the scent truly reminded Kanao of him. She took the cloth and put it inside the pocket of her pajamas.

She closed the door of the room and proceeded to go to her own room. It's too peaceful and quiet around the area. She would break the silence if ever she'll cry hardly. She would be a nuisance to other people in the estate. She wanted to cry, she desperately needed to.

"Maybe I overreacted." She whispered to herself.

"But this is how people shows their love and care, right? Is it wrong to cry for your love's sake?"

"Still, crying isn't the solution for this. Maybe I should do something."

She paused for a while and realized something.

"No, I should wait for him. He hated it when I search alone. Even if it's for him. Maybe I should obey to the others for a while and take a rest." She said and laid on her bed.

She covered herself with the blanket that she stitched long ago.

"It's warm, just like him." She said.

If only I could dream happily once again, I hope I could see you in it. Even if for once. Goodnight, Tanjirou. Wherever you are.

—————

"Where am I?" Tanjirou asked the ruthless demon, Kibutsuji Muzan.

He was standing in a platform with plenty of distorted wooden walls and floors.

"You're in the Infinity Dimensional Fortress. Welcome, Kamado Tanjirou." The man said and clapped his hands as they teleported into another place.

"This is where you stay for a while. Since, I have to make adjustments around here. You'll need to help me multiply demons around." Muzan said and grabbed a syringe filled with gold liquid.

Muzan is holding a medicine. It isn't any human type of medicine, and it isn't for normal health medication. This liquid is made by Muzan. This can make a newly turned demon into being completely become a demon. This includes the demon's appearance, powers, abilities, and its memories. But one can manipulate this medicine to make it ineffective. Hopefully, Tanjirou wouldn't be able to turn completely become a demon before saying farewell to his friends.

"Are you going to inject me with that?" Asked Tanjirou while looking coldly at the room.

Ever since he became a demon, he never showed emotion towards Muzan or anybody. But deep inside, he misses his comrades. If he would receive a chance, he wouldn't dare waste it and use it to bond for the last time with them.

"Yes. But I'll give you time to say farewell. But remember, even if we're away from each other, I can still hear your voice. Even if it's faint, my cells in your body memorises everything you've said. So you shall not spread information about me, understood?" The man before him said before placing the syringe back into a container.

Tanjirou bowed down at Muzan as the man clapped his hands, teleporting him back to Earth.

I will visit the Butterfly Estate for a week, then decide a time to meet them. Or I'll just have a talk with Kanao. But the infirmary is guarded with wisteria flowers. I don't think I could stay any longer in the place. Either way, I should try to avoid them carefully.

Oh how I wish I could stay with you all. But being a demon is also hard. I have certain reasons and I know you all wouldn't forgive me. Forgive me, Kiriya-sama, for betraying you. I wanted to end my life as well and I don't want to eat humans too. While there's still a chance, I'll try to manipulate myself into preventing in consuming humans.

As much as I want to fulfill my dreams as a human, I also wanted to save other people.

Back then at the village, there were a lot of people that were still alive. They were hiding inside their basements in order to keep alive. Muzan knew it from the beginning. He knew I would be there since the demon was incredible. I couldn't defeat it, despite being a demon hunter pillar. I couldn't fulfill my duties as one. I didn't knew what to do after being compelled by Muzan.

During the time when I was being held cornered by him, I couldn't do anything. Kanao and everyone else will die in front of me if I'll refuse his offer. My body became weak and useless. I feel so helpless inside.

I hope you all would forgive me. I will do everything for the sake of people. I will make a way to avoid any more killings. Even if it's my duty as a demon. I knew I'll make a way. I will try to seek Yushiro-san if ever he's alive. He could help me, I know he could. Even if we couldn't get along then I'll do everything. I will not make a promise but I'll ensure it.

Please wait for me. All of you must wait for me. Wait for me to come back. I know you could wait longer.

His thoughts are changing ever since his transformation. But, Muzan heard it all. Muzan is now part of Tanjirou. So it would be troublesome. But having courage wouldn't make Tanjirou stop into fulfilling his wishes.

As what he said, "I am willing to sacrifice for the sake of all. Being within the hands of the ruthless, wouldn't be bothersome. Taking time for my perseverance in saving people, would be beneficial at the end."
