Chapter 7

I flew. The wolves started shooting at me. I dodged them and kept on going. I flew up it felt amazing. The wolves started howling. "Get him!" they screamed at each other. I kept on flying.

Isabel POV
I wanted to help. I did. I had to. I then tried to climb the thorny vines, but a invisible barrier didn't let me. Why am I being punished for something I didn't do? I didn't get my friend sick. I would never! I want to be human. I wanted to be a real person and love Lucas. I love Lucas. He's risking everything to save me. I then had an idea. I could make a spell that could protect him. I made a blue flame, then a heart made of water, and a blue flower. I combined them to make an orb. I just had to get it to Lucas.

I got it. I got a plan. I had to throw it to him. He could hold it. I suddenly saw arrows shooting. Then I saw Lucas. I knew he couldn't land here. "Lucas!" I screamed, "Catch!" I threw it up. He caught it. I waved to him and pointed in the direction he should go. I led ran down to the opening he could land. When we got near it, an arrow hit his arm. He fell off the hang glider. I ran to the spot he would fall and made a place he could land with water. He hit the water, unconscious. I made him lay on a bed of leaves. I didn't know if he was okay.

Unconscious he was. "Lucas," I whispered. I tried to take his hand, but I went right through him. I didn't know what to do. I made some vines pull the arrow out. I made a bandage out of leaves and put it around the spot where he was hit. He was holding the orb. That was the one thing I could touch. I used my ability to make it give him the protection power. "I wished someone would love me," I whispered, "but I didn't want it to end like this." I heard his promise echo in my mind.

I couldn't hold it back. I cried. I couldn't help him, I couldn't hold his hand. I couldn't even touch him. Maybe nobody should love a ghost. Maybe that's why nobody ever has. Oliver and I are the only ones. All the rest are gone. They've become real again or went to heaven. If my curse was broken, I would be a real human again. I made my hand stay near Lucas's. I made it seem like I was holding his hand. "This is how it will end," Oliver said. I knew his voice. I'd heard it a lot over the last few hundred years. "No, it's not over," I said, "He promised me." "Not all promises are kept," Oliver replied, "and it looks like he is going to have to break his." "He won't," I said, "He would never."
