Chapter 4

Just as the doctor said, someone did come and un-cuff him from the hospital bed. He needed to leave as soon as possible, but he had to wait for the police station to release him.
He ended up staying overnight, and half of the next day. Finally, Dr. Helk returned!

Dr. Helk: "Alright Mr. Wilson, you're free to go. I have your paperwork right here, as well as an apology from the police department."

Crip: "An apology...So that officer will still be a cop?"

The doctor nods slightly, "I'm afraid so. Officer Jameson didn't have much of a case against you, other than profiling..so he admitted his mistake to the chief, said it wouldn't happen again and he'd get that dog properly trained. If he wasn't such a good officer, he probably would've been fired on the spot."

Crip: "Is he really that good?"
There was a hint of disbelief in his voice.

Dr. Helk: "He may seem hot-headed and unhinged but...Jameson is actually a very good officer. He alone has discovered things other officers missed...things even detectives have missed. He truly wants to clean up this city. His only problem is, he's too eager. He just rushes into things, full throttle, and ends up making himself look bad at times. The chief sees potential in him, regardless of his lack of mannerism."

Crip: "I understand, but...if I ever see him again, I'm gonna run like hell.."

The doctor laughs a little, understanding that entirely.

Dr. Helk: "Noted."

Crip wants to rush out the door, but the doctor is still here...What more could he possibly want?

Crip: "I'm...gonna get my clothes on and go now."

Dr. Helk looks like he's thinking. Perhaps of something else to say to stall...but Crip had to go now. It's bad enough he's been missing this long. O'Riley is probably pulling his hair out.

Dr. Helk: "Mr. Wilson. I know you think you have everything under control..but please, consider seeing me regularly. Free of charge...I just want to help you, and I can tell there is so much more inside of you that you are trying to bury. You need therapy, and perhaps even an antidepressant."

Crip scowls a bit, "Thanks Doctor, but I do think I have everything under control...I don't need any help."

With that he looks away, not wanting to become any friendlier with this guy.

The doctor sighs, and sets a card on the bed at Crips feet.

Dr. Helk: "In case you change your mind..Be safe, Mr. Wilson."

With that he leaves, and Crip rushes to his feet. He tugs the hospital gown off, and puts his clothes back on. His beloved hoodie feels awful against the bandage covering his stitches, so he rolls the sleeve up so that it's not touching.
Then he heads for the door.

Something calls him though...stopping him from leaving...The card and the apology written by the chief of police.

His green eyes glance at them, then back to the doorknob in front of him. Ugh...he really is a basket case...

Swallowing his pride, he takes the card and paper before leaving the hospital, shoving them into the pocket of his jeans.
He goes straight to the hideout, and it's so late by the time he makes it there. Luckily, the front door is still unlocked. Somebodies gotta still be here. He heads on in, towards O'Rileys office, and he doesn't even get to knock. The door flings open, blue eyes obviously surprised to see him.

O'Riley: "Crip. Where have you been?"
His voice was calm, but he didn't sound too happy to see him...

Crip: "I...I got caught..."

Suddenly those blue eyes are wide, and the entire atmosphere changes. O'Riley observes, seeing the arm wrapped up and the hospital bracelet still on him.

O'Riley: "And they let you go. Which means.."
Crips good arm gets grabbed and he's yanked into the office before being slammed against the desk.

O'Riley: "You snitched."

OH SHIT.

Crip: "Wha-N-no! No, I didn't!"

O'Riley: "Oh? Why else would the fucking cops let you go? Do you really think I'm that dumb?"

His arm was being bent behind his back, a cruel reminder that he wouldn't stand a chance in a fight with the boss. Thank god it wasn't the arm with the stitches.

Crip: "I didn't, I swear! The cop-he messed up!"

O'Riley is quiet for a moment, then growls, "Speak."

Crip: "His dog attacked me, and I had already ran off the scene! He didn't read me my rights, so I didn't have to do anything! The chief-he let me go!"

O'Riley: "Bullshit."

Crip: "I'm serious! In my pocket-the chief wrote an apology letter!"

O'Riley's grip softens as he fishes the letter out and reads it quietly. Crip watches as the card Dr. Helk gave him falls to the floor.

O'Riley: "Hm. Seems I was wrong after all."

Crip: "I'd never betray you O'Riley...I owe you my life..."

O'Riley smiles at that, and the atmosphere isn't so sinister anymore. That was a close one.
Before Crip can fully relax, he feels his jeans being tugged down. His chest hurt against the desk, but he wouldn't dare ask O'Riley to move him.

O'Riley: "You had me so worked up. I was ready to fuck you and then kill you here~"

Crip swallows, the feeling of this hard lump in his throat. He knew what was coming...It doesn't matter what he does, at the end of the day, this is his only purpose in life.

To be used.
