Chapter 28
I wish to write a Christmas special. What should it be about?

"Rasa, why is your youngest with you? I do not think it's a good idea to let him sit in." An elder Rasa had long since forgotten the name of said in a tone that made him sound wise. Rasa simply scoffed at him. The elders had never liked Gaara. They'd played a big role in why Rasa hated him in the first place. Besides Karura dying, the council had taken advantage of his grief and bullied him into despising the boy. And Rasa had gone along with it too.
"I don't care what you think about it." Rasa waved him off with a flourish of his hand, flipping his short hair dramatically. The council member stared dryly. "I am bringing my child."
"...Whatever you wish, sir." The elder said, his eyes narrowing slightly. Could anyone truly blame him? Rasa's change in attitude and personality had been quite sudden, and extremely drastic. He wasn't even the same man they'd once known and worked alongside. He was someone who cared about things the old Rasa wouldn't have given a second glance. Like the fact that pineapples were indeed banned in Suna, and the fact that Gaara was well hated.
"Shall we begin then?" Chiyo sighed slightly. She wasn't sure if she liked the new Rasa more than the other or less. Her opinion was very up and down. While the man had changed some for the better, proposing some ideas that would be considered generous and maybe even noble under some circumstances, he was also somewhat of an idiot. Chiyo had no idea how someone so clever could turn into an idiot overnight.
"It's about Konoha." Ebizō's voice was croaky. "Our ties are thinning."
"I've noticed that as well. Good observation, Ebizō." Another no-name council member who was probably only in it for the power said. She turned to Rasa, her hands placed daintily on her lap. Rasa didn't like that. It, for some reason, rubbed him the wrong way. Her regal stature. "What do you think we should do, Kazekage-sama."
Rasa paused for a moment, opening his mouth, and then closing it. He thought about it for a moment, leaning back in his seat. He glanced at Gaara, who sat in a chair next to him. He was so short and so small. "Uh." The man looked at the council members. When he was Kazekage, bonds weren't really his thing. They'd only really ever had one, which was with Konoha. And that one had been pretty shitty. Something so weak didn't need managing. "We could... uh... send... a casserole?"
Everybody loved casserole.
Before the council could protest at Rasa's blasphemous suggestion, Gaara cut in. His voice was far too cool and far too smooth for a child. "Visit them." He said simply, as though the answer were obvious. Everyone stared at him silently. "Tou-sama should visit personally to discuss the bond and ways to strengthen it. Communication is key in any treaty. We should fix it before it fades away."
Chiyo almost smiled. She had no idea Gaara held such wisdom! Perhaps Rasa and Gaara had somehow switched bodies, although Gaara hadn't been much of an expressive child. Just a very sad, very lonely one. It reminded her a little of her Sasori, the poor boy had never had any friends. Oh how she wished he'd never left. She wondered if she'd ever see him again, and if Gaara would turn out the same way.
"Wonderful idea!" Rasa stood up, clapping his hands together and grinning. "Gaara and I will go pack and be out of your hair in no time! Chiyo's in charge!"
He darted out of the room before anyone could protest, Gaara following behind in an almost exasperated sort of way.

"Naruto, why didn't you tell me you could talk to the fox?" The Hokage sighed heavily, massaging his temples with his hands. After freaking out and nearly having a heart attack that probably would have granted him an early death, he'd sat down and just sighed. Over and over again, he sighed, taking in deep breaths as he thought Inoichi's information over.
"You know, patient confidentiality is a real thing." Naruto pointed out, his arms folded over his chest. Shikamaru nodded vigorously, and Sasuke scuffed his shoe on the ground. The trio of kids didn't seem too affected. As though they were expecting this sort of reaction. "Yeah." Sasuke spoke up in response to Naruto's statement. "We demand a new therapist. We will start a petition."
"No, he was right to tell me. Do you have any idea the sort of danger you could be in? We must call Jiraiya right away!" The Hokage said. Naruto froze, but only for a moment. For some reason, he hadn't thought the Hokage would ever mention him. At least, not until he actually showed up. It just hadn't crossed his mind that the sannin could come any earlier than the chunin exams. He had to wonder if Jiraiya showing up would ruin all they had going for them, or if it would make things better.
It was impossible to tell.
"It's not like the fox has made him do anything." Shikamaru shrugged.
"Is this true Naruto? The fox isn't making threats, or telling you to do bad things? Don't lie." The's Hokage's tone was stressed and urgent, as though they were running out of time. None of the kids could really blame him. After all, he thought the fox was a demon. A real, terrifying, man-slaughtering demon.
"I am all of those things, thank you." The fox scoffed. Naruto rolled his eyes at the creature. Not even a war could diminish the fox's crude sense of humor. The Uzumaki assumed it was because he'd really seen it all. He'd seen death and war, and all the things they'd gone through. Maybe not as bad as they'd had it, but similar enough that the war hadn't effected him too badly.
"It's true. He just makes really bad bathroom jokes and mocks my voice and love for Ramen." Naruto said.
"Um, excuse me?" Kurama recoiled, offended. "My bathroom jokes are great."
Naruto could only smile innocently as the Hokage slowly lost the last bit of sanity he really had right before his very eyes.
