As the weeks went by Dotty grew weaker. She was sleeping more than she was awake and her eating dropped considerably. She had no will power to do much and when she did she only regretted it later when she felt dog rough. Her blood pressure was being monitored constantly and she rarely left the house and even her bedroom.
Fionn couldn't bare to watch it unfold. Whilst he was going for auditions and having them with his friends and family his mind was always else where. Seeing Dotty's health decrease and initially her life turn to shit was hard for him. He had watched a loved one deteriorate before his eyes and he was not prepared for that to happen once again. He was always talking to his family about it, then all offering any help for Dotty whom they had come to love and have as a part of their family but in reality there was not much anybody could do.
All of the Dunkirk guys were well in the loop of Dotty's health and had planned to all visit her however they were very much worried about overexcited and making her worse. Chris kept saying it would be great to see everyone in the same place at the same time, his daughter was no longer his daughter, instead she was a body which was slowly giving up. This was not Dorothy Nolan. No. It was a monster in her body.
"What time is everyone getting here?" Emma Asked Fionn, her eyes dark but you can see her trying to put on a brave face.
Fionn glanced down at his watch, "at eleven" he replied which was in two hours time.
"I'll go and wake Dotty so you can—"
"It's fine, Emma, I'll do it." Fionn smiled (barely). "Why don't you have a cuppa and relax, you were up late checking on Dot and you have been up for hours. I'll sort Dotty out."
Emma nodded her head, "thank you, sweetie," she kissed his cheek and patted his shoulder leaving to go to the kitchen and as the kettle switched on Fionn's footsteps could be heard on the stairs.
Entering Dotty's room he found her just as he had left her, curled up under the sheets fast asleep. It should be the other way around. It should be Dotty waking him up and complaining that he is missing the day by sleeping through it. It shouldn't be Fionn having to practically force Dotty awake and help her with every small little thing.
Perching on the side of the bed, he gently brushed her long blonde hair out of her face and ran his thumb across her cheek. "Darling, wake up," he said softly. Dotty stirred but didn't wake up. "Dotty, come on," he tried again.
Dotty grumbled, rolling onto her back and rubbing her eyes. "What time is it?" She asked sleepily, her voice hoarse from a dry throat.
"It's nine."
"Wow, you're awake before midday," she joked, a gentle snigger following her words but crashing into her with a series of coughs.
Fionn scooped her up, putting her into a sitting position as she coughed. He gently turned his hands in circles on back until they seized and Dotty leaned against his chest. "Do you what to shower?" Fionn asked her. She nodded her head. "C'mon then, love."
He took her hand and let her hold his tightly as they slowly edged out of the room and into the bathroom. It took a few minutes but Dotty was persevering and pushing on. Fionn held her up with one hand and undressed her with the other, Dotty helping him as much as she could. He hoisted her into the bath and sat her down. Taking the shower head he warmed the water and let it run over Dotty, covering her eyes so she didn't have hurt eyes.
Dotty say rather helpless in the bath as Fionn bathed her. She hated feeling this way but she could barely hold her arms up for more then five seconds. The doctors had told them that this was really rare for a person with heart disease but it could happen and it was unfortunate that Dotty had contracted it.
Fionn washed her hair and her body and then lifted her back out do the bath drying her off and setting her upon the small chair that was now kept in there for Dotty to use. He rushed and got her some fresh clothes and underwear. It had become common for Fionn to aid her in showering and changing, if not it was Emma's help a Dotty received.
After changing Dotty he took her back to her bedroom and blow dried her hair as they sat in front of the mirror much like they did during filming.
Dotty winked at the boy through the reflection of the mirror as she started up the hairdryer. As she dried her hair she couldn't help but stare at Fionn through the reflection. He was pulling faces at her, amusing her so much that she turned her head and pointed the dryer at him causing his bed head to blow in all different directions. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Stop!"
Dotty threw her head back "I love your new look!" She commented and shut the dryer off.
Fionn rolled his eyes and kneeled behind her, "You've missed the back of your head." He muttered and turned the dryer back on, pointing it at her hair. He ran his fingers through her golden locks as he helped dry her hair, biting his lip in concentration. Dotty sat looking at the mirror studying everything and after a few moments Fionn finished and put the hairdryer down on the floor. He wrapped his arms around the girl and rested his head on her shoulder. "All done." He concluded.
Fionn pressed gentle kisses to her neck every so often as he dried her hair, Dotty smiling at the mirror as Fionn did so. She couldn't thank him enough, everything Fionn did for her was more than she could ever have asked for. He was amazing to her. "Dotty, are you feeling good today?" He asked as he turned the dryer off, wrapping his arms around her shoulders letting her head rest against his.
Dotty nodded, "I think so, why?"
"Because we have a surprise for you."
"Then why are you telling me this?" Dotty asked him, a yawn escaping her lips.
Fionn hugged her tighter, "just so you are at least expecting something to happen and we don't send your BP up the shit."
"Is it a bad thing?"
"No, darling, you'll love it?"
"Is it Leonardo Di'Caprio?" She asked a grin spreading on her lips.
"What? No! You're mine and he's not getting you." Fionn Exclaimed, "just trust me, you're gonna love it."
"I trust you, Fionn."
