Three Splendid Moons

Three splendid moons

spread out randomly,

but symmetrically,

above the horizon.

The self concurs. With the self.

And repeats. "Splendid!" Inwardly.

The moon on the right nuffles the moon in the middle.

Ka-wack! It moves.

And clashes into the moon on the left.

Which in turn sways. And comes back.

Ka-dunk!

Villagers gather.

Meezing at the spectacle unfolding.

Collectively enchanted.

Perpetuum Mobile!

Of celestial bodies!

(Someone shouts)

The moon on the left ribbling non stop

to the moon in the middle.

The moon in the middle straining to hear.

But finally does.

And fails to make sense of any of it.

Then passes every word on

to the moon on the right.

Perpetual confusion!

Of celestial bodies!

(Someone else shouts)

The moon aligner arrives.

A loud bazzer rumbles and booms

from massive sound emitters.

The moon in the middle settles. At once.

The moon on the left

and the moon on the right swing back.

Both strike the moon in the middle.

In the exact same instant.

Kinetic energy transforms

into potential energy.

The three splendid moons.

Back in place.

Equilibrium restored.

For now.

Then home through the wetlands.

Sulch!

Left boot freed!

Suuulch!

Right boot freed.

Kazoom!

Peaceful, yet hasty, fireflies rush by.

On their way to more urgent matters.

Leaving a golden trail in the night sky.

Definitions - A/N: My made-up Onomatopoeia;

Nuffle: to nudge, with some force

Ka-wack: the sound of an object hitting another object, with considerable force

Ka-dunk: same as Ka-wack, but with extreme force

Meeze: to look at something with one eye half closed, the other wide open

Ribble: to speak very fast, without making any sense

Bazzer: a deep, reverberating sound

Sulch: the sound of a person succeeding in

freeing their boot from a quagmire or swamp

Kazoom: the sound of an object/creature that moves at very high speed
