3. Fear

an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat

He was afraid. And so he died running from his fears.

It was true that death was peaceful, but this kind of death was torturous. It was the type of death that dragged him to hell with his eyes open.

He was scared. But still, this was more than just a scare. But I don't think he was aware that it might cost him his life.

He was afraid of living his miserable life. But yet, he was afraid of dying. And he was afraid of trying...

He was scared, he was scared, but I don't think he was aware of the fact that his heart beat a little faster with each passing second. With each passing breath, he stood. But he never fully understood. His brain had little time to comprehend when he was afraid. And it had even less time to think about the fears and about the rationality that they weren't exactly valid ones.

They were just ideas. Ideas he had come up with. Things to think about and keep him awake at night when he was alone with his monsters. And things to keep him on his feet. Fear was the right-hand man of the survivor when it was used as a catapult instead of a stop sign.

He had forgotten the blueprint for the catapult at home.

The only thing he knew now was to run. As long as he ran he would be safe. But with each step taken each fear grew. He didn't know fears were only scary when he let them be. Fears were only scary when he ran.

He didn't know that as soon as he faced them they would disappear.

Because they weren't real at all.

But don't get me wrong, he wanted to be brave.
