Chapter 1 - First Encounter

-Sunday, September 10, 2000, 6:30 A.M.-

My alarm beeped. I groggily woke up, sitting up and slowly moving out of bed. I had a flight at 8:00 AM. I got dressed and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. As I looked into the mirror, I splashed water onto my face and said, "Wake up, Josh." Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, how rude of me. My name's Josh Ben Cotton, a pilot for United Airlines, my age is 26, I live in Newark, New Jersey, and am currently drinking coffee. I was about to change when I was notified that the flight was re-assigned to someone else, so I got the day off, which was usually a good thing.

The next day, I scrambled around my apartment, looking for my car keys. Crap! I can't be late! I needed to get to the airport for a flight I needed to fly. 6 minutes past with no avail. I opened the door to my room, which was also the final I haven't searched, when I saw something flicker in the corner of my eye. What the-? I turned around to see what it was and yelled.

A girl, most likely 10 by the way she looks, stared at me. I shouted questions, "Why are you here? How'd you get in here? What do you want?" She answered none of them. She just stared at me, with this blank yet hatred-filled stare. Then, I finally noticed her appearance.

She wore white, ragged clothes, which were battered, dusty, and had red patches where she was bleeding. Oh my god... She had no shoes as well. Her hair was black, stringy, and messy. She looks like she's hasn't showered in months... but there's no stench? She held a teddy bear in her right hand, which was also battered and charred, with its bow ripped, its left eye missing, and tears all over it's body. Creepy... Her red eyes were very peculiar, as they stared into mine like knives, piercing my gaze. That's totally not supernatural at all... contacts, maybe? But her appearance doesn't look like she has enough money to take care herself... much less buy contacts... And as a plus to her already creepy look, her entire figure was slightly transparent and flickering, which I'm pretty sure isn't normal. What am I thinking? Of course it isn't normal! She spoke up.

"Twins, North and South,
But the North got hit,
And as the South watched, helpless,
A fire was lit."

"Huh?" I asked. An eerie silence swept the room. The heck? I blinked. She was gone. I blinked some more. "I must have imagined it..." I mumbled. I looked around and saw my keys. Aha! They were right where the imaginary ghost girl was. What a coincidence... I picked them up and left my small, eerie apartment.

Hey! How is the story so far? Is it good? Creepy? Horrible? Did you like the poem I wrote?

Also, pay close attention to the dates, they are very important. So that's basically it... I have edited the story from its originally to make it more understandable and give it more personality, but nothing very important to the story has changed! So, bye!
