If the story was published before but taken down for editing, can I join the challenge to help me stay consistent with re-uploading and editing/rewriting? This is not a contest; it's a challenge, so if you want to use this as motivation to make major edits and re-upload, you are welcome to do that. We frown upon the idea of simply unpublishing and re-uploading chapters (without actually writing something new) to reach a milestone because this will not help you make progress on your writing journey. But rewrites and major edits are a good enough reason to join the challenge.

I don't want to enter the challenge officially, but I want to participate on the message board and support the writers. Can I do that? You can do that. If you don't have a story to work on right now, you can cheer on those who do have a WIP.

How will you determine the word count? Will you use Google/Word or Wattpad word counts? We will go by the word count shown on Wattpad. Please triple-check that the word count in the chapter you post on Wattpad reflects the right count if you are aiming for a milestone.

Does it matter how many new chapters I add during the 30 Days? No, it doesn't.

Will you consider the words I wrote during the month if they are in a draft and not officially posted? No, we won't be able to see them. We will also not accept any docs or PDFs. Only the words posted in a public chapter on Wattpad will be tallied. Only chapters with a timestamp within the writing window will be considered.

What is better: fewer long chapters or many shorter chapters? Again, this remains your choice, but remember this is Wattpad, so do keep a web novel style in mind.

Does my story have to be complete after the 30 days? No, it doesn't. But if you can complete it, then kudos!

What happens if my story is almost done and I complete it with you, but there isn't room to reach the 30k milestone? That will be an amazing accomplishment, and we would like to know about it so we can celebrate with you. Simply let us know on our message board, and remember to share the story title as well.

I don't have a story yet. Can I use this to create a new story? Yes, you can use this challenge to create a new story.

I just published a new story before I saw this. Can I still participate? Yes, you can.

I only have the author note and cast chapters published, not any story chapters yet. Can I still participate? Yes, you can.

I just saw this, I don't think I will have enough time to submit it! Don't worry, we open a new challenge writing window every month. Take the time to plot and plan so you are ready to publish and write for the next challenge.

Is there a specific story tag associated with this? You can use the tag #30DC if you like.

Will you have more time to consider my story if I submit it earlier? It doesn't matter when you submit during the writing window; all stories will undergo the same level of screening.

Can I use ChatGPT to help me? You can use it to help research things. But we advise against allowing it to write your story or to rewrite sections of your story. Ultimately, using AI is your prerogative, but we believe that using this challenge to improve your own skills will benefit you more. Practice your human skills and don't feed the bots!

I'm not good at making covers. Will this affect my chances? Not at all. We consider the story, not the cover or any graphics/media.

How can I win this? This is a challenge, so there will not be any winners. The aim is to find joy in the accomplishment of writing and growing your story. We seek to offer writers a source of motivation and support while writing.

I have a Character that uses some non-English dialogue. Is this okay? Yes, the primary language is English, but you are allowed to use phrases from other languages to lend authenticity. Please just ensure English readers will understand it within the context of your story.

Will my prologue/epilogue count? Yes, if it's written during the writing window, it will count.

Do I have to use one of the prompts provided? No, not at all. Those are to help get the creative juices flowing if you need them, but you are not required to use any of them. Alternatively, you can combine or draw inspiration from them if you want. You are free to use them in any way or to ignore them =)
