uncle? uncle!

In the heat and fire of the nether a portal as black as the night sky opens making the pigmen in the area look at it in alarm as a loud roar comes through. A few of them were brave enough to take a closer look, but did so with caution.

"What was that Chenzy?" One of them asked looking at the strange portal in curiosity, and kinda wanting to see if it was edible or not.

The pigman named Chenzy shook her head, "I have no idea bonsai." She then looks at the third pigman who's eyes kinda make him look derpy, "what about you Ed?"

Ed just groans stupidly making no effort to speak, "you shouldn't have asked him Chenzy." Bonsai said crossing his arms.

Before Chenzy could answer a tall pale woman with black hair, purple eyes, and a long flowing black dress walks out of the portal folding her big black wings into her shoulder blades, "where's my husband?" She snapped in a voice that could entice any man into a trap if she wasn't so angry.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Night had fallen on this quite little village, but not all was quite.

"You gotta do what?" Troy shouted in shock and worry. Narik and troy had been friends since Narik first showed up in town, and taking into count that troy was twenty at the time and Narik was five, troy considered himself to be Narik's father.

Narik was playing with his dinner as the name of his crush was still running through his head, but he still answered the question, "I gotta fight a wither." He said halfheartedly As he pushed his steak towards the north.

Troy put his head into his hands, "oh notch, what did we do wrong?" He asked looking up at the sky and on the verge of tears.

Narik was thinking the same thing but without the tears, " what did I do wrong?" He asked to no one in particular, yet he didn't expect a response.

A deep soothing voice echoed in his head, "you didn't do anything wrong." The voice said. "It is your father who is causing your pain, not you."

Narik responded a little confused because he considered troy as his father, "but troy didn't do anything!" He said inside his head.

The voice came through again this time with a lighthearted chuckle that was very calming, "no he didn't,but your true father, my brother, did."

Narik almost fell out of his chair which made troy almost jump out of his to make sure Narik was OK. And after saying that he was alright several times he responded, "what? I have an uncle?' He yelled wildly in his head.

"Yes." Said the voice calmly, "you can call me notch. And there's no need to get all official like." He said with a laugh that would anyone smile.

This time Narik did fall out of his chair which made troy leap to his side. "What the?" Narik yelled in a high pitched squeal inside his head.

Notch laughed and yelled back. "Surprise!" It was the worst surprise Narik had ever experienced. In fact it was the only surprise that he had experienced.

Troy had gotten Narik into his bed and said something about needing sleep and going to bed himself. Then he left, but not before putting there uneaten dinner in the fridge.

Narik laid his head on his soft pillow and inside his head continued the conversation. "But your." He started still in shock.

Notch chuckled. "What?" He asked sarcastically. "A god?" Notch chuckled in his calming way again. "I just came to give you a gift for your journey."

It was a tradition in that village for a a test taker to receive one gift from each family member. But if that person doesn't have any living family members then the head priest gives them a stone sword and a bow.

"My gift is a sharp mind to help you think and react fast enough to survive against a dragon." He said as Narik started to see the tiny details that not even the best swordsman could see.

Narik looked around in amazement. "Thank you uncle notch." He said still in shock that he has an uncle. He could hear the rustle of the wind as it flowed silently past his house, and the twitch of his rabbit's whisker as it slept soundly. He could even count the individual cracks in the stone floor, 1,998 in total.

Notch laughed. "No formalities needed my boy." He said kindly. And your very welcome." Then his voice became sad. "But that's not all."

Narik was confused. "Wait, I'm only supposed receive one gift from each family member." His confusion showed in his voice.

"I know, but this isn't from me." He said sadly. "Its from your father, yet I can't give it to you." His voice hinted that he was crying slightly.

Narik sat up with a worried look on his face. "What?" He asked still confused. "Why not? What even was it?"

Notch's voice became a little sadder as he replied. "It was a sword made from the rarest gems in the nether, blood rubies." He stopped for a short time then continued. "But, it was lost on its way to you. It simply disappeared." He sounded as if he was truly sorry.

Narik stayed silent as he knew all about blood rubies. They had a knack for disappearing but always had a way to get to there owners again. Sometimes they just hide themselves as a different material which was very annoying. Other times they just disappear, which was extremely annoying.

Notch's voice came through again. "I'm sorry about the sword, and I guess I'll talk to you again later." He said lightly. "Good night"

Narik felt Notch's calmness leave him and he smiled. "Good night uncle notch." He laid back down and closed his eyes letting the calmness of sleep wash over him, sending him to the realm of dreams.
