Memories (Chapter 2)
~Third Person P.O.V~
*Edited*
"Hey, ZuZu! Just checking in to see how you're settling in," Inko beamed, leaning against the door frame of Izuku's bedroom. "What's that?" She tilts her head, motioning towards the pile of notebooks on Izuku's bed.
"Hm? Oh-" Glancing up at her, he returns the smile, redirecting his attention back to the assemblage of notebooks, "These are just some journals I wrote in over the years. Like when I was feeling out of it, or just plain pissed off- y' know?"
She nods her head understandingly, biting the inside of her cheek. It was going to take some getting used to, him being here, her raising a teenage boy, trying to get over the massive waves of guilt that hit her every time he so much as looked at her. He's her son, and she felt as if she had abandoned him.
Had they helped him there? Yes. But she should have been able to, she's his mother.
"You okay, mom?" He asked, swiftly striding over to where she stood.
"Oh, yes- yes I'm fine! Just...tired is all." She lied, waving him off before turning on her heel.
Izuku stared at the spot where Inko had just been standing in, letting his mind wander off, something he found himself doing a lot recently. Sure don't get him wrong, he was happy to be back- grateful, even! That's all he's ever wanted, it's just- he didn't think it would be this hard to readjust to his new living customs. It was like the first day of him being at the program all over again.
"ZuZu, honey can you come down here for a minute- some people are here to see you!" Inko's fruity voice boomed from downstairs, snapping him from his previous reflections.
"Coming!" He called back.
Bounding down the dust compiled, carpeted steps, he stops at the foot of the staircase- teetering on the balls of his feet.
Right where the dining room area and the living room meet, a rather large cluster of people were gathered, their small banter and chatter filling the space. Some of the faces there were familiar to him, not from memory, but rather from pictures and such.
On the left of the room, a woman with ash-blonde hair stood, she and Inko chatting up a storm with another woman with pearly white hair. The blonde, Mitsuki Bakugou, one of Inko's best friends; the other woman, Rei Todoroki, also one of Inko's closest friends. The two women weren't as stubby as his mother, but nevertheless still a rather short size, smaller than him thankfully.
A boy with the same blond hair stood by the table, his pale locks spiked in alternate directions all over, creating a pointed sharpness type of look to it. Izuku recognized him right off the bat, he remembered him by the name of 'Kacchan', but couldn't pinpoint the boy's exact name at the moment.
His expression was gruff and stoic, while he stood next to a boy who looked awfully similar to Rei.
The other boys had a duel hair color, half white and half red. Unlike the other boys', his hair was tamed, completely flat. He couldn't recall this boys' name, however, just like the others, he seemed quite familiar to him.
"Hi! Oh- you've gotten so big Izuku! Do you remember me?" Rei asked, raising an amused eyebrow.
Izuku chuckled, scratching the side of his head awkwardly. "Not...really," He laughed, "but you all do seem familiar to me."
"Ah, that's okay, it has been a long time since you've last seen us," Mitsuki said, sending him a warm smile.
"Well," Inko spoke up, her voice light and feathery, "that's Mitsuki, and her son Katsuki. And this is Rei, and her youngest son Shoto."
Izuku nodded, sending the boys a small wave, which they returned with simple eye-contact.
"They go to the high school I'm enrolling you in, I was thinking, maybe, they could show you around and stuff!" She suggested, grinning brightly at the boys.
'Okay- two extremely hot guys showing me around, because that's the smart thing to do!' Izuku thought, pressing his mouth into a thin line, stiffly signaling his head 'yes'.
"Great!" Rei cheered, clapping his hands swiftly, "You boys go on upstairs, we have to discuss some things down here" she shooed them off.
Sighing, Izuku lead the way to his room, the pair of boys following behind him, talking quietly. Once they were in the comforts of his room Izuku jumped on the bed, allowing the bedsheets to relax his spiking anxiety.
It was silent for a few beats, the only noise was the chatter from downstairs, but even that was still quiet.
"Where have you been all this time?" Shoto asks, his monotone voice making Izuku's heart rate jump.
"I-uh, I beg your pardon?" Izuku replies, the question catching him off guard.
"It's just- we come over here a lot, and me and Katsuki have never seen you before...just pictures,"Shoto explains, inclining his head forward.
"Oh- um...visiting my dad in America?" Izuku lied, horribly at that. It came out as more of a question than a real answer.
"You're a shitty liar," Katsuki finally spoke, never looking up from his phone, "I haven't even looked at you, and it still sounds like a fucking lie."
"Well it's the only thing you're going to get, so quit asking!" Izuku snapped, instantly feeling pools of regret build up in his chest. "Sorry...I didn't mean to snap at you."
The two boy's glance at each other, both of them giving Izuku and incredulous look. Did he seriously just snap at one of them...and then apologize? The two were just stuck, marveling over how innocent- no...pure he is.
Katsuki turned to Shoto, giving him a look as if to say, 'Did he really just say that?'.
Clearing his throat Shoto stares at Izuku, a look of shame still plastered on his face.
"Don't worry about it too much, Katsuki deserves it, he's kind of a constant asshole no matter what he does." Shoto casually says, shrugging his shoulders.
Izuku bites his lip, trying to keep the oncoming laugh at bay.
"Fuck you peppermint!" Katsuki retorted, crossing his arms childishly.
"Thanks, babe, but how about later when we have some alone time?" Shoto said, a teasing smirk on his face.
Katsuki blushed, grumbling a string of curse words under his breath. Izuku stared at the two wide-eyed, he felt his own blush threatening to creep upon him, then he pieced two and two together.
"Oh! You two are dating?" He asked more than stated, he didn't want to assume- but he was definitely curious.
"Yeah...got a problem with that?" Katsuki asked, a menacing glare being thrown at the freckled boy.
Izuku, being completely unfazed, just shakes his head with a casual smile on his face.
"Nah, I just might be gayer than you both combined so..." He trailed off at the end, picking at loose strings of thread of the blanket.
"Understandable," Shoto says, scrolling through his phone.
"Katsuki, Shoto! Haul your asses down here we got things to do!" Mitsuki calls from below, startling Izuku from her booming voice.
With a sigh, the two both get up to leave, Katsuki already having one foot on the stairs.
Shoto stops at the door frame, slightly turning his head back to look at Izuku. "Little tip for high school: Don't believe everything you hear about us." He advised, before walking off.
Izuku was confused, to say the least. He had no clue what the duel-haired boy meant by the statement, but he would take it to heart.
