reincarnations of clovers treated like

black flies—swatted away for the hatred

in their thousands of eyes.

an invisible ribbon was tied around her

colorless neck like a leash, making her

the perfect pet for scars; her mind, a sea

with many shipwrecks lying at each corner,

held in memories of torment.

her eyes, already down, stared deeply into

the ground, hoping to burn a hole as big to

fight her in, and seal it shut; two blue eyes looked

at the scar on her wrist—a flawless kiss from

the devil.

her arms, pale as paper can be, were made

especially for one knife, for one scar; her face,

clothed in innocence and mystery, looked as if it

will crack into a hundred pieces if another tear sheds.
