18: Morning

┌────── ⋆⋅✦⋅⋆ ──────┐

When you wake up, Taehyung is gone. You stretch your muscles, tossing over the blankets before sitting up.

This day was as normal as every other. The sun rose from the east and entered your room through the window.

The fire in you spread quickly. You could feel it everywhere, pushing you into an abyss with no escape. But you were already there. You pushed yourself, letting the fire for revenge consume you. If your brother was alive, things would be different. You wouldn't be doing this. You would start college this year.

You decided to be an assassin because you wanted to get revenge on your father. Looking back at it, you don't regret your decision. While you would have preferred a normal life, this one wasn't so bad. You had grown to a liking for killing.

If you killed your father today, it would change everything. A shudder ran through you. Even tomorrow, the sun would rise from the east and enter the room through the window, but you may not be here to see it.

From the drawer beside your bed, you remove your gun. Pressing the metal against your palm, you feel the metal. It was cool against the heat of your palm.

Throwing the gun on your bed, you go to get dressed.

The kitchen wasn't it's cheery self. Everyone sat at the table with their heads in their hands. Were they having second thoughts?

The thought of killing your father had made your heart stop, but you couldn't remember a time when you've wanted to give up. Killing him has been your only goal.

"Why am I not feeling excited about this?" Taehyung asks. "I wanted to kill him for five years."

"You don't want to kill him anymore?" Jimin raised his eyebrows.

"I want to. We are so close, but why do I feel like we are rushing into this?"

"Taehyung," Namjoon placed his hand on the younger's shoulder. "It's the nerves. Killing Kim Jaeyong is not going to be easy, it never was." His eyes meet with everyone in the room.

"I think it's fate that entwined our lives together. Our pasts have led up to this moment." He chuckles. "For so many years, my thoughts have been clouded with revenge. Every decision I take, it would lead me to think- how was it going to help me get revenge? Maybe after today, we can finally get peace."

A small smile tugs the corner of your lips. He was right. The idea of getting closer to peace was relaxing.

"Maybe we will." Jin muttered. "The idea of peace is an oasis. We have to work hard for it."

Work hard. You couldn't tell if you had done it. You had killed people, getting yourself a reputation. Now all you did was maintain it. It wasn't hard. No one knew you.

But after you kill your father, perhaps they would. Then the spotlight would be on you. The girl, who once upon a time, no one knew, would be exposed to the world. What would happen next? You shudder at the thought.

Things were going to change. Were you ready for it? No. But you wouldn't get a choice. You had to face it. No one cared if you were ready or not. They only cared if you'd be a worthy successor to your father. But you were going to destroy his legacy and step back into the shadows. After the institution was down, no one would care about your father.

It was going to be hard to take down your father's institution. Even if your father was dead, Wang Hansong would take over. He worshipped your father. He was your worst fear. But you would deal with him later. The first step was killing your father.

You won't be able to predict the change. It wasn't only your life which was going to change, Bangtan's was too. And everyone's life was connected to him, in a good or a bad way.

You bury your face in your hands and rub your eyes. Things were never easy. You have to fight for everything you want. Even someone's life.

Even if it was taking someone's life.

Courage was slipping out of you like grains of sand. The tighter you held on to it, more sand slipped from between your fingers. You open your palm, the sand stops slipping. Gently, you close your palm and hold on to the courage which did not slip from between your fingers.

Everyone sat buried in their thoughts. You could hear the silence ringing in your ears. It rang above the sound of your own thoughts, deafening you.

"It's time to leave." Namjoon said, snapping everyone out of their daze.

The sound of everyone scuffling to their feet and dragging chairs along the marble filled the air. You stand up, pushing your own chair back.

One gun was strapped to your thigh, and another was hidden under the waistband of your jeans. Extra bullets spilled out of your pockets. The denim hugged your lower body.

Hoseok grabs the keys, while you exit the front door.

Dry leaves crunch beneath your feet. You take a deep breath and muster the courage to walk up to the car.

Taehyung gets in beside you. You were sandwiched between Yoongi and Taehyung.

Taehyung pats your shoulder. You turn to look at him. His lips curve upwards reassuringly. You sigh and return the smile. The sun shone off his eyes, making them look lighter.

There was a whirlwind of emotions inside you. The engine warms up. Hoseok puts his foot down on the pedal and drives down the narrow path.
