They had spent the entire afternoon searching with no luck. Daegu was huge. They couldn't cover such a large area in a single day.
"We can't do this in one night." Night said. Zia had flopped down an empty bench. Jimin moved to sit beside her, disappointed. His jacket hanging off his shoulder. Jungkook still hadn't returned. Night hoped he wasn't attacked again. "We need more time."
"We should have thought this through." Sighed Zia, "I thought it would be easy. Should have thought this through." She added the last part for herself.
"It is not a complete failure." Jimin insisted. "We can make and plan and carry it forward."
"First, we even have to find Jungkook."
"Where did he go?" Jimin asked gently. His shooting voice made Zia sit straight and look directly into Night's eyes.
"Do you have a plan?"
"I can think of something. But Jungkook first."
"No need, he's coming here by himself." Jimin said, looking over at Jungkook running. Sweat plastering the hair on his forehead.
"Sorry. I got lost." He muttered out of breath. "Move."
Zia and Jimin shifted, giving Jungkook space to sit on the small bench beside them. The three of them crammed together.
Night bounced on her heels, taking deep breaths. She was having a bad feeling about finding someone here. They searched in parks, shops, buses, restaurants, but the new Phenomenal was stubborn about not being found.
She left the emptiness left by Vague stronger than ever. Vague had left because of her selfishness. She wanted a new start. It was her fault. As the days stretched on, the urge to call Vague grew stronger. She even called out there was no response. Night was now positive, Vague was gone forever, Vague wouldn't talk to her even if she activated her powers.
"Let's split up." said Jungkook, standing up again. "Zia and I will go south while Jimin and Night take North."
Jimin looked at Night and nodded, getting up.
Choosing Jimin to roam around the city wouldn't be her first choice. She felt nervous around him.
He had beautiful features. His eyes were soft, beautiful, mono lids which fit perfectly in his oval face. Soft full lips and a straight flat nose in between. The way he presented himself was admirable. Gentle and kind, but also a complete flirt.
Maybe it was the way he held himself, which made her nervous. He looked intimidating when he was quiet.
She didn't feel the same way around Jungkook. She knew him for years. Jimin kept her on her toes, but she didn't like him. She didn't feel butterflies in her stomach every time she looked at him.
"Call if you see something unusual." Zia told Jimin and Night.
"We will." promised Night. "Don't waste a lot of time eating."
This was for Zia. She would hold off fighting because she was finishing her burger. Her favorite food was a hamburger with sprite. Her choices of food were peculiar.
"I will try my best." Zia joked as she tugged Jungkook in the opposite direction.
Jin ran his hand through his hair, pushing them back. "I think we should also leave." He suggested.
"Yeah." she said, falling in the step beside him.
They walked in silence, with Jimin playing with his jacket.
"When did you activate your powers?" He asked her.
"I don't remember. I was young. Around 3-4."
Jimin looked at her, his eyebrows raised. "Really?" He questioned.
"Yeah." She mumbled, not wanting to talk about her past.
Over the years Night had grown very distant, and defensive of herself. Sometimes she couldn't recognize herself.
Jimin noticed her hesitation and changed the topic. "Where should we go?"
"We haven't checked subways." said Night. The subways were usually crawling with people.
"That place is crowded. We won't understand around who our gems blink." Jimin said. His argument was valid. They wouldn't differentiate Phenomenals from humans. They had to start somewhere which wasn't crowded or isolated.
"A food joint." Jimin said, picking up her thoughts.
Night removed her phone. Running a quick search on a few restaurants is Daegu.
"How long did you live here?" He asked casually, tilting his to the side, making conversation.
"Five years. More or less." Night opened up to Jimin better than she had ever done to anyone. It scared her how he could make her talk. His soothing voice
"Night? You ok?" Jimin asked, bending down and placing his hands on her shoulders, slightly shaking her. Cupping a hand under her chin, tilting it upwards, making her look into his eyes. "You look scared."
It was the first time Night had looked in Jimin's eyes properly. They were beautiful and seducing. The grey of his eyes was slightly darker than her own. They were so beautiful, she could sink into his eyes without realising. Jimin was also looking into her. His breath caught in his throat.
"I'm fine. It was nothing, bad memories." She mumbled, shifting her gaze to the floor, unable to meet his eyes.
"You say that a lot. I'm fine." He said not looking away. "But are you actually fine?"
Night hadn't expected Jimin to say this; it caught her off guard, forcing her to look back into his silver pools.
"Because I am fine." She told him. Nervousness creeping around her. Jimin didn't respond. He kept looking at her with an innocent expression. This made her wonder if she was actually fine. Over the years she had said she was fine with out ever asking herself the same question.
Jimin licked his lips and stood up straight. "Think about it, Vanilla." Night rolled her eyes. It was no use telling him her name was Night, he would still call her Vanilla.
The atmosphere had drastically changed. "Should we take a cab? I don't wanna walk." Jimin whined.
"You have barely even walked." retorted Night.
"I have walked so much since meeting you. First you made me walk all the way from the cafe to the apartment, then here again. For your information, I recently broke my hips, but I have made a speedy recovery." Jimin rambled with an air of arrogance. Night laughed. The way he delivered his words was amusing.
"I shouldn't have saved you." She mumbled, looking around for a cab.
"Your morals are not so low."
"How do you know?" She arched an eyebrow.
"Believe it or not, you are not that hard to read." Jimin whispered, leaning closer to her.
"Oh, yeah?" She challenged. "Let me see how well you read me."
"You try to act as though you don't care about anyone, it's not true. I have seen you with Zia, you don't want to disappoint her. You have had some troubled past which relates to you not using your powers. You're scared to use your powers now. You also don't want Zia in your head because your secret won't be safe anymore. Did I miss something Vanilla?"
She didn't reply.
It was true, Jimin was right. She was scared to accept the truth he had laid out in front of her.

Jungkook and Zia had walked for a long time before taking a break. They had been to stores, cafes, malls, movie theaters. Scanned pedestrians for signs of abnormalness.
His legs would fall off if they continued walking. His stomach grumbled. "Can we eat?"
"We should." replied Zia, looking at him with a smile. Jungkook had grown comfortable with Zia now. "There is a restaurant over there."
"Does it sell lamb skewers? I want some."
"How would I know? Let's go check it out."
Jungkook nodded. They walked up to the restaurant and peeked inside. It was a normal restaurant with a delivery bike parked in front. There weren't many people sitting at the tables. It was just a small restaurant in the street's corner.
"Excuse me." A deep voice, said. A guy with dyed mint green hair came out of the door. He looked like a delivery boy. He was carrying a bag filled with food packages slung around his shoulders.
Zia moved out of the way and came to Jungkook's side.
The delivery boy looked at Jungkook and frowned slightly. He saw his necklace; it was blinking. Jungkook looked down to see why the guy had frowned. His necklace was blinking. Zia was looking at him with wide eyes.
The delivery boy gave the two of them weird looks and muttered something under his breath before riding away.
"He is Phenomenal!" Jungkook whispered.
"I know! Call Night and Jimin." she said. Her face reflected his excitement.
***
"How did that boy look?" Night asked, fire burning in her eyes.
"He had mint green hair." Zia said, unsure how to start.
"You always remember the hair color of a person." sighed Night. "First Jungkook, now the green-haired delivery boy. At least this guy has green hair, easier to spot."
"How will we find him?" Jungkook cut in before Zia could reply.
Night pursed her lips, thinking. Jimin was standing quietly, leaning against the wall. Zia had crossed her arms, looking at the ground. Night turned and leaned against the wall beside Jimin.
Jimin looked at her before talking. "He is a delivery boy. We could order food from this place. When the guy shows up, we tell him what's going on. He joins the team, simple."
"It could work." said Night analysing his plan. "We just need to stall him long enough for someone to knock him out."
"Knock him out?" Zia asked.
"That would be kidnapping, and it's a criminal offence." Jimin protested. He again looked at Night, trying to tell her the dangers of kidnapping.
"No one would see." she shrugged.
"How can you be sure about that?"
"How about Zia uses her powers and compel him to come inside and listen till we are done explaining?" Jungkook suggested breaking off the rise of another argument. It felt like his job to break off arguments whenever they occurred. Everyone including Night agreed.
"Wait, is he the only delivery boy?" Jimin asked, trying to eliminate every flaw in the plan.
"After the guy left, we hung out there, gathering information, till the two of you showed up. The guy went for deliveries, came back but we couldn't see any other delivery vehicle."
The plan was set. They had to go back to the motel they were staying at to execute it.
"Hopefully he falls into the trap." Zia muttered.
Jungkook looked at the restaurant one last time, praying their plan works.
