"OW, MY BACK HURTS, LIKE HELL," Mark groans as he shifts from his seat, eyes half-open with messy, shuffled hair. He feels Jeno yank the blankets off with his feet, startling him. "Wow hyung, you're awake already?", he teases, kicking his thigh from the other end of the couch. The others start to wake up, their bodies scattered all over the living room, the TV turned on to some random shopping channel.
"What happened at the end of the movie?", Chenle asks, rising from the wooden floor. "And how did I get here?"
"Well, that fucking scary ass clown probably fucking died, that's what I'm guessing. Also, you rolled down on the floor making a loud bang, which honestly scared the shit out of me, but okay.", Renjun murmurs pessimistically while rubbing his sore eyes.
"Oi," Mark interrupted, throwing his head back in frustration and letting out a loud grunt. "I'm hungry", he bluntly said, slowly standing up from the couch to get a loaf of bread from the pantry.
The rain continued pouring, and the constant loud noises of the raindrops got really annoying. They had sworn that they would sell off their kidneys to some black market just so that the loud noise would stop. It was nine-thirty in the morning yet it looks so dark like it was eight in the evening.
Nonetheless, they all got up from their night's sleep and gathered around in the kitchen.
Jisung popped two slices of bread into the toaster until it was golden brown. Mark grabbed the Nutella from the cupboards and slattered some on his toast. Jeno and Renjun worked together to whip up a batch of pancakes. Chenle grabbed a few lemons from the fruit bin to juice up some fresh lemonade. "This is to keep Ten-hyung out."
After everything was ready, everyone sat on the table with either a Nutella toast in-hand, a big slap of pancake squished between their lips, or a glass of juice condensing on the sides of the cold cup.
"Mhmn~", Chenle hummed, savoring the simple but wholesome meal. At the end of breakfast, the boys felt incredibly full. "I dibs first in the shower!", Jeno screamed while Renjun came chasing after him. "No, I'm first!", he protested, only earning an eye-roll from the younger. Everything was going out normally, however something strange caught their attention, growing silent, a tense feeling rising within.
Loud knocks on the front door progressed into violent banging and cries and screams were audible.
"Help! Help us! Please! Please-"

Sobs from seemingly two boys could be heard at the other end. The boys gather at the door, trembling with fear. Mark, being the eldest, decided to open the door. They were right—two young boys shivering in the cold storm.
"P-Please let us in,". The one with pinkish-blonde hair softly whispered. The brown-haired boy said nothing and only kept quiet. They all turned to Jisung, seeking for permission, who nodded afterward to let them in.
They all walked to the living room, still scattered with blankets and pillows. "Are you guys okay? Are you feeling cold? Water? Food? Anything?", Mark asks them, full of worry. "I-It's okay. I'm fine.", The boy with raven hair stuttered nervously. "Are you sure?", Mark assured softly. They nodded back, nevertheless he offered them a glass of warm water. "Thank you, so much.", one said. "By the way," he paused.
"I'm Donghyuck, Hyuck for short.", he breathes out, shuffling his pink roots.
"Hello, Donghyuck. Nice meeting you! Please meet my friends—also, who's this one?", Mark grins, pointing to the boy beside him.
"I'm Jaemin.", he says with a small smile.
They all introduced themselves one by one and soon got to know each other. Jaemin and Donghyuck were surprisingly loud, rather than the shy first impression the boys got earlier.
"Nothing will bother you more than the fact that there is no exact reason why the letters in the alphabet have to be arranged in that way," Donghyuck snickered as he leaned his back against the sofa, crossing his limbs cockily.
Renjun glared at the male, throwing daggers into his eyes. "What the actual fuck Donghyuck, that is the worse thing I've ever heard."
The rest of them groaned in frustration, finding this piece of information rather life-threatening. And they were only at the tip of the iceberg with Donghyuck's wrath.
"I got another one-"
"PLEASE, JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP."

"Eight, nine, ten! Ready or not here I come!", a loud Renjun yelled, walking around the house looking for the others.
A couple weeks have passed and the boys grew quite close. On a boring, rainy day, they decided to play a hearty game of hide and seek.
A flustered Chenle hurriedly grabs Jisung's hand, hoping to find a decent hiding spot. They settle in a closet in his parents' room, currently vacant because they're away. "Oh my god, Renjun hyung almost got us!", Chenle screeched, while Jisung giggled along with him. Their bodies were squished together, so close—too close. Jisung started to feel an unusual sensation in his heart, while it beat ten times more.
"Calm down, Ji!", Chenle whisper-yelled, pinching the younger's cheeks playfully, noticing how his chest heaved up in down erratically. That didn't help, though. It just made Jisung's cheeks flare up in a bright shade of red but thankfully, there was only a little bit of light seeping through the small slit of the doors, which made the vibrant hue nearly invisible.
But Chenle did notice.
On the other side of the universe, Jaemin and Jeno attempted to fit themselves under their shared bed, pushing themselves inside the tight space. "What the fuck Jeno," Jaemin scoffed. "This is not working."
"It is! Don't be a bitchass," Jeno smiled cheekily, flashing his signature eye smile at Jaemin. His heart fluttered ever-so-subtly, but he brushed it off anyways. Soon they got themselves in, Jeno chuckling after his victory. "Now, we just gotta wait!", he proclaimed while Jaemin spanked his ass. "Bitch better get me out."
Meanwhile, Donghyuck was frantic in his movements as he hasn't found a hiding spot yet. Renjun could easily catch him if he weren't so subtle. He walked into the bathroom and stumbled upon a figure behind the curtains in the bathtub. Curious, we walk slowly to the tub and peeks over the shower curtain, to see Mark, curled up in the corner, his black fringe covering his eyelids. "Aw, he's cute.", Hyuck whispered to himself with a soft grin.
"What," Mark shots up, eyes beaming at the younger. "Oh, hyung!", he whispered in a loud tone, completely disregarding his question. "Renjun hyung might catch me!".
"Okay, okay, come here!", Mark says hurryingly, patting the side of the bathtub signaling him to sit beside him. Hyuck squishes beside Mark, curling his legs up in a comfy sit.
They slowly silent, awkward tension rising between them. The atmosphere started to become serious, which, made Donghyuck feel the need to address some serious problem to release the negativity.
"Hyung," he whispered softly.
"Y-Yeah?" Mark replies nervously, afraid of what's going to happen next.
"Thanks,"
"Thanks for letting us in!", the younger cheerfully grins, radiating warm sunshine which Mark flustered about.
"You made me feel safe. The storm is so harsh, it made me feel so helpless," Donghyuck whispers, breaths heavy. His bright smile fell upside down, into a heart-aching frown. The boy faced Mark helplessly, his almond orbs getting glossy.
"H-Hyung...", he speaks softly, his voice cracking as Mark's heart shatters, seeing the boy so vulnerable,
so broken.
The Donghyuck he knew in the past weeks was a loud, cheerful boy, radiating the brightest sunshine he had ever seen, and a healing smile curing all kinds of cancer.
The Donghyuck he is holding in his arms right now, is a hurt Donghyuck.
A Donghyuck whose heart aches, who sheds the most bitter tears.
The brightest smiles do hide the most painful wounds.
Mark pulled the boy into a warm, comforting hug. Donghyuck buries his face on Mark's chest, his arms loose around the older's torso.
Mark heard the latter's soft sobs and sniffles and held the boy tighter, tracing circles on Donghyuck's back. Mark played with his pinkish locks gingerly, his other hand tightly wrapped around his waist. But the boy couldn't help but let his tears stream down his flushed cheeks ceaselessly.
"M-my parents d-died in the s-storm. I-I was so traum-matized and I just k-kept crying. I-I didn't k-know what to d-do. I just wanted to end it all-"
"Shh, there there, I'm here," Mark cuts him off, rubbing his back softly. The older pulls away and faces Donghyuck, his eyes red and puffy with tears streaming down his flushed cheeks. His chapped lips were parted open, catching his breath with his chest heaving erratically.
The sight crushed Mark's heart. Seeing Donghyuck in such a miserable state pained him.
Mark started intently into the latters orbs as he cupped his tear-stained cheeks gingerly, caressing his skin softly.
"Don't cry, Donghyuck. We're here for you, we're not leaving you."
"I am here for you."
In the last few weeks Mark had grown fond of the boy. His cheerful personality and his charismatic demeanor, it was something Mark had grown to love.
Donghyuck's breath hitched when he noticed Mark leaning in, painfully slowly. He shut his eyes tight as his tears continued to fall, and right at that moment Mark presses his lips onto the younger's forehead, planting a chaste kiss to comfort the sad boy.
A bright red hue spread across Donghyuck's cheeks, slowly fluttering his puffy eyes open, seeing the older smile charmingly.
Donghyuck's system goes overdrive, his heart racing and pounding simultaneously, too flustered to even calm down. His breathing is even more uneven,
all because of an innocent peck given to him by this smiling brunette right in front of him.
Mark Lee, to put things simply.
Mark gave him his fondest smile.
"Cheer up."
The wave of emotions hit Donghyuck hard. It was difficult for him to go through this amount of grief and sorrow. He used to be such a happy boy, but ever since such a tragic event happened five days ago, it couldn't stray his mind. It was difficult without his parents. Jaemin was the only one he had, being left after his parents died, too, in a car accident. But even after all this has happened to him, he realised that there is still hope.
Hope that there is still more to life.
Hope brought by six other boys, who welcomed him warmly with open arms.
