The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the bedroom. The room was still quiet, except for the soft breathing of the two men in the bed. Beomgyu was the first to wake up, his eyes fluttering open slowly.
He looked down at Yeonjun, still fast asleep in his arms, looking adorably messy with his messy hair and sleepy expression.
He couldn't help but smile, the sight of his husband safe and sound in his arms calming some of the doubts and insecurities that had plagued him the previous night. But the memory of Yeonjun's drunken clinginess with Jiwon still lingered in his mind, and he knew he needed to talk to him about it.
Jiwon, why did he feel like he had seen her somewhere?
"I should stop thinking about it. I trust Yeonjun." He mumbled to himself with a sigh, and untangled himself from Yeonjun's arms, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead. He quietly got out of bed and stepped out of the room, figuring he'd make some breakfast while his husband slept off the effects of the alcohol.
As Beomgyu moved around the kitchen, preparing breakfast, he tried to sort out his thoughts. He knew he was being irrational, he had no reason to doubt Yeonjun's loyalty, but the unknown woman named Jiwon was bothering him more than he cared to admit.
He tried to focused on cooking, making a light and hangover-friendly breakfast. He prepared a simple meal of toast, eggs, and fruit, along with a tall glass of water and some painkillers for Yeonjun's inevitable headache.
As he finished, he took the food to the bedroom, gently shaking Yeonjun awake.
"Yeonjun. Wake up, love." Beomgyu whispered, his voice soft.
Yeonjun stirred groggily, opening his eyes to see his husband sitting next to him, holding a tray of food in his hands. "Mm... what time is it?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
Beomgyu glanced at the clock. "It's 8 am. You have work later, remember?"Β
Yeonjun groaned, sitting up in bed and rubbing his temples. "My head ugh, I hate drinking..."Β
Beomgyu smiled slightly and handed the tray to him.
"I know, here, eat something. It'll help with the hangover. I also brought painkillers."
Yeonjun took the painkillers and sipped some water, wincing as the headache hit him. "Ugh, I definitely drank too much last night."Β
Beomgyu couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he heard Yeonjun's comment. "Yeah, you did. You were all giggly and clingy with that Jiwon woman."
Yeonjun glanced at him, noticing the slight edge in his voice. "You're still thinking about that, huh?"
Beomgyu shrugged, trying to play it casual. "Just... who is she? I've never heard you mention her before."
"Well...Jiwon is my ex-fiance and childhood bestfriend."
He finally admitted, heaving a deep sigh.
Beomgyu's eyes widened in surprise, not expecting that answer.
"Your ex-fiance?"Β
A mix of emotions washed over him - jealousy, confusion, but also curiosity. "And you guys are still in touch? Hanging out like that, drinking together?"
Yeonjun picked up the glass of water, chugging down half of it after swallowing the pills and sighed, taking a deep breathe.
"We have a complicated past.."
He whispered, making Beomgyu curious.
"And that is..?" Asked Beomgyu, eyebrows raising in intrigue.
"Well...it starts from.."
Yeonjun sat up straight and explained everything from Beomgyu from start to end without any lies.
Beomgyu listened intently, his heart sinking a little as Yeonjun revealed the full story of his past with Jiwon. He could sense the pain and heartache in his partner's voice, and he felt a mix of empathy and guilt for doubting him.
When Yeonjun was done, Beomgyu took a moment to process everything. "So she was your first love... are you completely over her?" he asked, his voice soft with aΒ hint of uncertainty.
"Yeah."
He smiled, looking back at him.
"I'm over her, I'm just happy our stupid misunderstanding ended and I have my bestfriend back."
Beomgyu's heart lifted a little at his partner's reassurance.
"But last night... you were so drunk, and clinging to her. I couldn't help but feel..." he trailed off, unable to finish his sentence.
"Hmm...?"
Yeonjun didn't hear him that well, so he looked at him in confusing, but Beomgyu brushed it off.
Beomgyu shook his head, forcing a smile. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."Β
He didn't want to start a conversation about his insecurities right now, not when Yeonjun was already suffering from a hangover.
"You sure?"
He asked softly, cupping Beomgyu's cheeks.
"I'm really over her Beomie, my eyes are stuck on a certain Math Professor now.."
He whispered teasingly, leaning closer to him.
Beomgyu's heart skipped a beat as Yeonjun leaned in closer, a warm feeling spreading through him. He chuckled and leaned in closer too, their foreheads almost touching.
"Is that so? Just this Math Professor?" he teased back, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Just this one, and only this one..." Yeonjun whispered, his fingers tracing a gentle path along Beomgyu's jawline.Β
The air between them thickened with the weight of their unspoken emotions, and Beomgyu felt his jealousy and insecurity slowly melting away under Yeonjun's soft touch.
He closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of Yeonjun's fingers on his skin. "You know, you really did drink way too much last night," he mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.
Yeonjun chuckled, leaning his head against Beomgyu's shoulder. "Trust me, I know. My head hurts like hell."
Beomgyu wrapped his arms around his partner, holding him close. "You should've seen yourself, all clingy and giggly. It was cute but..." he paused, biting his lip.
"But what Beomie?"
Yeonjun asked, caressing his cheek with his thumb, his voice soft and gentle.
"If you're uncomfortable about it, talk to me. We promised we won't run from each other right?"
He whispered, kissing his forehead gently.
The kiss made Beomgyu guilty, because he knew he shouldn't feel insecure about such trival thing...but Yeonjun said Jiwon was his first love and ex-fiance...and Beomgyu recently managed to win Yeonjun's heart...what if Yeonjun regrets his choice to love him?
He knew that his partner was trying to reassure him, but his doubts were hard to shake off.
He took a deep breath, mustering the courage to voice his fears. "It's not that I'm uncomfortable, I....I just want you to know that I trust you, completely. It's just...Jiwon is your ex-fiance, your first love. What if..." he trailed off, the unspoken worry clearly evident in his eyes.
Hearing Beomgyu's words, Yeonjun stopped, staring at his husband.
What if what? What if he had a choice to chose Jiwon? Would he chose her?
...
"Beomgyu. Choi Beomgyu, my dear husband, there is a reason you're in my bed, in my arms right now instead of her.."
He whispered softly, eyes softening with adoration as he caressed Beomgyu's lower lip with his thumb so he would stop biting it.
No. He won't chose her.
Yes. He loved Jiwon truly, but that was in the past. After the heartbreak, he was totally distraught and alone; believing he was broken beyond repair to love anyone ever again, seeing it as a waste of time. His heart was frozen with frost, not letting anyone else inside at all.
But then, came Beomgyu. This sweet loud-mouth of a determined sunshine, lightning up the darkest corners of his life and melting the frost over his heart, helping him open up again and become his real self once more.
He was the one who showed him that being vulnerable and fragile was okay, because he knew Beomgyu would be there, standing infront of him to hold his hand and kiss his tears, despite the amount of hurt Yeonjun caused him before. He would be there to pick up his broken pieces and join them back together, with a smile without asking for anything in return.
How could he ever think of regretting his choice, when his destiny and reality was Choi Beomgyy?
He once loved Jiwon, but now; he loves Beomgyu.
He can't let Beomgyu feel insecure about such a trival thing and cause a rift between them, so he finally decided to ease Beomgyu's insecurities, and whispered the magical three words, he thought he never would say to someone ever again.
The words he wasn't able to tell Beomgyu so far.
"I love you, Beomgyu-yah."
...
Beomgyu's heart nearly stopped as the three words hit his ears like a lightning bolt. He had known, deep down, that Yeonjun loved him, but hearing it spoken out loud, in his soft, slightly hoarse voice made it all the more real.
A wave of emotions crashed over him, drowning out all his doubts and insecurities. He gazed into Yeonjun's eyes, seeing nothing but sincerity and complete love.
"Did you just say-" he whispered, his voice shaking slightly.
"Yeah."
He smiled softly, caressing Beomgyu's jaw with his fingers, gazing at him with affection as he held Beomgyu's hand and brought it up to his lips, kissing his knuckles.
"I'm sure now. I love you, Beomgyu. Only you. You don't need to overthink anything, yes...I did love Jiwon back then and yes things could have been different... but they're not, and actually I'm glad. I can't see myself being anyone else's other than yours, Beomgyu. I mean it."
Each word that fell from Yeonjun's lips was like a soothing balm over Beomgyu's wounded heart, healing and mending each and every one of the cracks in his belief.
He felt lighter than he had in days, all the tension and worry seeping out of him, leaving nothing but pure, unwavering love in its place.
Beomgyu's eyes brimmed with tears as he listened to Yeonjun's words, his voice choked with emotion. "I love you too, Yeonjun. More than anything in this world."
"I love you more, Choi Beomgyu."
He smiled, wiping the tears that escaped Beomgyu's pretty brown eyes, kissing his nose.
"You finally won the bet Beomgyu. You made me fall in love with you in 30 days...so you win."
Beomgyu chuckled through his tears, his heart still racing from the emotional wave that was Yeonjun's confession. He remembered the bet they made, a month ago when he was determined to make Yeonjun love him. It seemed like a lifetime ago, theyβve come so far.
"Finally, I get your kiss as my reward." he teased, unable to keep a huge smile off his face. "Come here, I want it now."
With a smirk, Yeonjun leaned in closer, their faces mere inches apart.
"Oh, so eager now, are we?"
