"DON'T YOU WANT TO GO BACK?"
Y/N asked as she walked on the streets with Sae. It was around 7 pm and the sun was slowly setting. Her question hung in the air, filled with a hint of longing and uncertainty.
Sae glanced at Y/N, his expression momentarily clouded with contemplation. He took a moment to gather his thoughts before responding. "I'll go later to the hotel... all I do is sleep there so it's better to walk for a bit."
Y/N nodded, understanding Sae's words. The streets were quiet, with a gentle breeze rustling through the trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere. They continued walking together, their footsteps echoing against the pavement.
As they strolled, Y/N couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The fading sunlight painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, casting a warm glow over their surroundings. She mustered the courage to ask the question that had been weighing on her heart. But looking at him only developed a fear of rejection inside her.
"Nah ... that would be so embarrassing." She thought.
As they continued walking in silence, Y/N's thoughts swirled with uncertainty. She couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that they were missing out on something precious by not addressing the lingering questions and emotions between them. However, the fear of potential embarrassment and rejection weighed heavily on her.
The next street they entered led the way to Y/N's house and this neighbourhood knew her pretty well and there might not be a single person who would not recognise Sae as well, so she was a bit hesitant to take him there but before she could say anything, Sae had already taken a turn. "Oh yeah... Sorry" Sae said and a million instances ran through Y/N's brain, thinking about what he was sorry for.
"Fo- For what?"
"I said I would behave but I still talked rudely in front of the members and then I saw you apologizing to their coach so I felt bad. You don't need to apologize for something I do. You have done it multiple times in the past as well and I hate it."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat as Sae's words resonated with her. The apology he offered was unexpected, and it gave her hope that he cared for her. She could sense his genuine remorse in his words. "Your house is in this street right?" He asked and that question left her confused. She had never shared her location with him so for him to know that information was impossible.
"How do you know that?"
"Well... all the people are staring at us. It's either because of you or me. But I just heard a kid say your name... so it's probably you." He said and kept walking forward while Y/N looked behind her and saw the neighbours eyeing them which made her more embarrassed.
"Is he your boyfriend?" One of the ladies asked while mouthing the words and giggling and Y/N shook her head sideways and made a cross with her hands "No!" She had been living in this street ever since she was born so she had a rather friendly relationship with the people living there so for them this moment was just like seeing their precious daughter growing up.
She was glad that the people in her neighbourhood cared about her, but she also wanted to avoid any unnecessary gossip or misunderstandings. As they walked further down the street, she couldn't help but feel the weight of their curious gazes and feeling frustrated, she grabbed Sae's hand and pulled him towards her house, thinking that since her parents are home, it would make the other's assumptions die but she clearly wasn't expecting her house to be empty.
She let go of his hand and stared at her empty house with a sarcastic smile on her face "Where the fuck did everyone go!"
Sae stood beside her, sensing her frustration and he found it rather cute that she was flustered with the fact that everyone assumed him to be her boyfriend. Y/N sighed, her shoulders slumping "I hate them so much... anyways, welcome to my house!"
Sae chuckled softly at Y/N's frustration, "Thank you for having me. Your house looks lovely."
And hearing him laugh and speak to her like before, vanished all her frustration away. As they stepped inside, Y/N led Sae through the familiar hallways of her house. The silence enveloped them, and she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely without her family's presence. However, she was determined to make the best of the situation and create a welcoming atmosphere for Sae.
Y/N showed Sae to the living room, where they both settled on the couch. She couldn't help but notice his curious gaze as he looked around the room, taking in the pictures and decorations that reflected her personality and memories. It made her feel vulnerable yet excited to share a piece of her world with him.
"Um Sae... I wanted to talk to you abo-"
"Y/N HAS A BOYFRIEND?!" Her words were cut off by her dad's voice who had just barged into the house with her mom following right behind him. Y/N froze in surprise as her parents suddenly entered the house, their voices filled with shock and excitement. Her dad's exclamation about her having a boyfriend echoed in the room, leaving her momentarily speechless. She exchanged a quick glance with Sae, who seemed equally taken aback by the sudden turn of events.
Her mom, who had been walking closely behind her dad, was the first to notice Sae's presence. Her eyes widened, and she exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, is this him? Is this Y/N's boyfriend?"
Y/N flushed with embarrassment as her parents excitedly approached her and Sae. She tried to find the words to explain the situation, but the overwhelming enthusiasm from her parents made it difficult to interject. Sae, on the other hand, seemed a bit flustered but managed to maintain his composure.
Before Y/N could say anything, Sae spoke up, his voice calm yet polite. "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but I'm not Y/N's boyfriend."
"WAIT! YOU ARE ITOSHI SAE!!" Her dad exclaimed. "Can I have an autograph?" He asked and quickly took out a pen and a paper.
"Dad! Stop it!" Y/N scolded.
Sae chuckled nervously and glanced at Y/N who was embarrassed as she proceeded to explain "My dad here... is a big fan of yours. Also, I am very sorry for his behaviour."
Sae smiled warmly at Y/N's explanation and looked back at her father and took the pen from his hand to give him the autograph that he was waiting for like a kid. "So, you are the one that she chose to be the manager for," Her mom said and Sae gave her a nod "She is the best manager."
"I doubt that." Both her dad and mom said in unison.
"WHAT? SIS YOU GOT A BOYFRIEND? EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT IT!" Her younger sister barged in the same way her dad did but all of her stuff dropped when she saw who was in the house with her family... Itoshi Sae... "I- I... apologize for shouting. I am usually not like this~" She explained in the calmest voice ever and her mom, dad and Y/N couldn't help but look at her with suspicion. Y/N's sister's sudden change in demeanour caught everyone off guard.
"She is so fake" Y/N blurted out and her sister glared at her while still trying to look polite as she picked up her stuff and slowly walked over to her room "Mom, you should treat the guest. I'll change and help you. Ok?"
"Help me? But you neve-"
"I WILL BE THERE IN A MINUTE!"
"Oh lord... alright. Y/N, you should take Sae to your room. I'll bring you some snacks" Her mom said and Y/N grabbed Sae and brought him to her room and shut the door behind her before leaving a sigh of relief.
"I am so sorry for family..."
"Ah, it's fine... They were fun tho..." He said as he walked around in her room. The room reflected Y/N's interests and passions, with posters of her favourite bands and players, books and trophies piled on a shelf. It felt intimate, like a glimpse into her inner world.
Y/N couldn't help but feel a bit self-conscious as she watched Sae's eyes roam around her room. She quickly moved to her desk, putting down some of her childhood photos but Sae picked one regardless. "Cute~" He mumbled with a smile and she quickly snatched the photo away.
"That's an embarrassing one," she said, trying to hide her embarrassment with a playful smile.
Sae chuckled and raised an eyebrow. "Now I'm curious. Can I see it again?"
Y/N hesitated for a moment, then decided to give in to his curiosity. "Okay, but only if you promise not to make fun of me."
Sae nodded, his eyes filled with amusement. Y/N handed him the photo, and as he looked at it, a genuine smile formed on his lips. "You were adorable," he commented, appreciating the innocence captured in the image.
Sae handed back the photo, and Y/N put it back in its place. She leaned against the desk, facing Sae, and the room fell into a comfortable silence. Y/N gathered her thoughts, as her eyes fell on the DVDs that were lying on the side table of her bed. "I received some videos of the blue lock members... so you want to analyse it?"
Even though he had already seen multiple of those videos, he still decided to watch the ones she had because there wasn't anything else to do and it would only make their silence grow denser. "Sure"
Y/N grabbed the DVDs and inserted one of them into the player. The screen flickered to life, and the room was soon filled with the sound and the sight of intense soccer matches. They settled down on the bed and watched the video.
But it was only Y/N who was watching it with full concentration and giving out remarks about the players that appeared on the screen while Sae was more intrigued in watching her. He observed the way her eyes lit up, the excitement in her voice, and the way her gestures mirrored the movements on the screen. He couldn't help but be captivated by her dedication as a manager.
Seeing her being so comfortable with him, put his heart at ease because, after the kiss, he was afraid that he made her uncomfortable and couldn't bring himself to talk about it after that. But trying to avoid her and seeing her be so quiet around him was making it harder for him so he took the courage and paused the video which made her turn her attention towards him, who was eagerly waiting for her.
His voice was soft but filled with sincerity. "Y/N, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about... It's about that night, my birthday."
Y/N's eyes widened slightly, and she looked at him with a mix of curiosity and relief. She had been meaning to talk to him about that too. She took a deep breath, feeling relieved that Sae had brought up the topic himself. She nodded, encouraging him to continue. "I wanted to talk about it too..."
"Do you like me?"
Sae's question hung in the air, causing a momentary pause as Y/N processed his words. Her heart skipped a beat, and a rush of emotions surged within her. She could sense the vulnerability in his voice, his genuine desire to understand her feelings.
"yes..."
A mixture of relief and a hint of joy flickered in Sae's eyes. He smiled a genuine expression that reached his eyes. "I'm glad," he replied, his voice filled with warmth. "But..." Y/N started "You probably won't want to be with me..."
Sae's smile faded slightly, and he looked at Y/N with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Why do you say that?"
"Earlier... when we met the U-20 players, you said that your only goal was to be the best and relationships would probably keep you behind. I don't want to force anything on you or hold you back but I also don't want to let you go. I like you a lot... And then on the day of your birthday, I was just so flustered that I couldn't say anything and wanted to avoid talking about the kiss but then we became distant and I thought that you hated me because of it and then listening to your words made me feel that the kiss was just in the heat of the moment and it didn't actually mean anything..."
Seeing her stressed about everything she said and was still going on, Sae leaned in and placed a kiss on her cheek. The gentle touch of Sae's lips against her cheek silenced Y/N's anxious words. She blinked in surprise, her face heated with a mix of embarrassment and affection. Sae pulled back slightly, his eyes locked with hers, and he spoke softly, "I like you too you know... a lot."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat at his words, her eyes widening in surprise and hope. "I didn't kiss you in the heat of the moment, I have genuine and serious feelings for you. And, sorry for making you think that I hate you... I was just in the same state as you and thought that I made you uncomfortable."
A wave of emotions washed over Y/N, and a wide smile spread across her face. She felt a surge of warmth and happiness, her doubts and fears dissipating like mist in the wind. She reached out and gently cupped Sae's face as she pecked his lips "I'm sorry too... for doubting your feelings and for not communicating properly."
Sae's lips curved into a tender smile as he leaned into the gentle kiss, his heart fluttering with a newfound sense of assurance. But the kiss slowly started to heat up. Her hands rested on his shoulders while his went down her waist. As their kiss deepened, the room filled with a sense of intimacy and passion. Time seemed to stand still as they explored the depths of their feelings for each other.
There were no doubts or uncertainties. He lightly pushed her back on the mattress without breaking the contact and the room's door swung open. "I made you some treats... Sa- WHAT THE FUCK!" Y/N and Sae quickly broke apart, their faces flushed with surprise and embarrassment. They turned their heads towards the door to find Y/N's younger sister standing there, her eyes wide with shock.
She stepped back and closed the door with a straight face "Enjoy" leaving the couple in panic.
I hope YOU! enjoyed it ~
