The escape
(1920)
"CORDELIA!" Alice exclaims with a horrified expression upon her delicate face.
"What is it, Alice?" Cordelia asks worriedly while walking towards the pixie that she had learned to adore and love in a span of 5 months. The girl has been staying in the mental asylum.
"I saw something, someone," Alice tells her, and Cordelia encourages her to continue, "Red eyes, two of them, they want something, they want me, my blood."
Cordelia sighs, frustrated. They know that there have been nomads lingering around the hospital. Mansion didn't mind. He thought that they were just passing by.
"I'll tell Mansion, stay here," Cordelia tells Alice. With a gust of wind, Cordelia was gone and running towards the garden shed at the back of the hospital.
Carefully watching her surroundings, she opens the wooden door revealing Mansion reading the morning paper.
"The nomads. They want Alice," Cordelia tells him, not really seeing the point of not getting straight to the point of the problem they are now facing.
"Why? What did she see?" Mansion queries as Cordelia combs her hair anxiously and says, "She told me that she saw them, her blood, father."
"We need to get her away from here. Get ready," Mansion tells her, and Cordelia nods as she runs towards the hospital to tell Alice their plan.
Mansion and Cordelia have been planning for the past few months to let Alice escape the Mental Asylum, to let her have the normal human life that she deserves. After Mansion's short interaction with Alice, he suddenly felt protective towards the pixie.
And Mansion needs her safe and well, not for him but also for Cordelia, who has fallen in love with the girl.
Mansion walks towards Alice's cell, where Cordelia and Alice are, and Alice instantly looks at him and says, "No, it wouldn't work."
Alice already saw what they had planned, and it all ended up with him being dead, Cordelia being dead, or her.
"Then, we will hide you in the lake. The water will dampen your scent," Mansion says as he changes his decision. Alice disagrees again and says, "He'll kill you both."
"Then let him."
"Father," Cordelia says. She doesn't know what to do. She's clueless for the first time in centuries. She didn't have a concrete plan for Alice's escape.
"No! I can't! I saw it, Mansion. You'll have your kingdom back, and you'll be a king again," Alice tells him, and Mansion shakes his head in disagreement.
He had centuries to accept that he'll never gain his kingdom back, "I gained more than I lost. I lost a kingdom but gained two beautiful daughters."
"Cordelia," Mansion says, gaining the brunette woman's attention, signaling her to go outside, out of Alice's hearing.
Mansion gently grabs Cordelia's hand and says, "I want you to escape with Alice. I will distract them."
"No! I cannot leave you, Father, if that is what you ask. I would never leave you," Cordelia disagrees, venom glazing in her eyes, tears that will never fall, filling her eyes.
"You must, you, after centuries, find someone to live for, to love. I cannot keep that from you, Cordelia."
"They will kill you," Cordelia says as she hugs him tightly. As the man wraps his arms around her shoulder, his breath shuddering, and he whispers in her ear, "We do everything for family. I've lived long enough, so let me do this."
"Thank you, for everything, for this life, Father," Cordelia replies, and Mansion tightens his hug and slightly pulls away, placing a kiss on her forehead, "Take Alice. You know what to do."
Cordelia nods as she walks towards the cell, with Alice sitting patiently in the bed. "Come, we must hurry. I'll carry you." Alice shakes as she stands up and walks towards Mansion, who's patiently waiting on the door frame. Alice then hugs the man tightly.
"Go, Cordelia," Mansion orders, and the brunette nods, quickly carrying Alice in bridal style as they went outside the hospital.
Cordelia sensed that someone was following her. Turning her back, she sees a man with blonde hair, with a sadistic grin on his lips. "You must have made a mistake. She is my prey."
Mansion appears, tackling the blonde man and looking at Cordelia, "Run!" so she runs, hiding in the forest. She sees a crate, and places Alice inside, and says, "I have to change you. It's the only way he'll stop."
Alice then purses her lips, already knowing that this is going to happen. She offers her wrist and closes her eyes shut.
Cordelia gently places a peck on her wrist and tells her, "It'll hurt for a while, but it won't last" Cordelia then sees a blanket and offer it to Alice.
"Bite into this," and Alice places the blanket in her mouth without a warning. Cordelia bit into her wrist, making sure to let the venom seep into her bloodstream, and Alice opened her eyes in panic.
As she sees Cordelia biting into her wrist, she screams into the blanket in her mouth, her body shaking and thrusting rapidly.
And Cordelia stops and places Alice's wrist, with the pixie writhing in pain, she hears running footsteps towards them, and she immediately grabs the blanket from Alice's mouth and covers her body, "You'll always be my little pixie."
If Cordelia doesn't survive, then Alice needs to stay alive. And she'll do anything for her.
She moves away from the crate and runs into a woman with red fiery curly hair. The woman smiles at her with a hint of terror in her eyes, "You want me, then you have to catch me."
Cordelia then runs towards the hospital. She sees Mansion fighting with James, with the redhead woman behind her.
She strangles the blonde man in the neck. As Mansion is about to kick his chest, the redhead woman kicks him from behind.
They are losing. They are too strong. They have done this before. They've fought vampires before. Mansion and Cordelia didn't. They have been living a peaceful life for centuries.
"Run, Anna! Run and do not look back! Now!" Mansion orders as he has the redhead woman in his hold, with James already moving towards him to help his mate.
They have talked about this. If ever they feel they are losing, Cordelia must run and leave Mansion behind.
And so, she ran. The blonde man killed Mansion, burning his body. "Chase her!" The blonde man orders his mate, and the redhead woman follows him obediently.
The blonde man is searching for his prey. Seeing the crate, he walks towards it and sees a blanket.
As he uncovered it, he saw the girl in transition. He kicks the crate in frustration. There is no use for her to kill her anymore. All he could do was wish her an awful life of being immortal.
He'll hunt her soon.
The blonde man then followed behind his redheaded beloved and chased Cordelia around the world.
Leaving Mary Alice Brandon behind in transition and waking up without memories of her human life, of Mansion, of Cordelia, yet she received her first-ever vision of an exquisite brunette woman.
