Electroshock Treatments

"MORNING!" Alice exclaims enthusiastically as Cordelia enters her room. The brunette smiles at her and says, "What's got you so happy this early in the morning?"

Alice giggles as she sits up from the bed and hugs a pillow on her chest, and smiles, "You."

Cordelia looks at her and raises an eyebrow, playfully rolling her eyes at the girl, and says, "Very smooth, Brandon."

"So, what's the agenda for today?" Alice asks as she swings her legs, looking at Cordelia expectantly with a smile, and Cordelia frowns, sighing, leaning on the wall with a clipboard in her hold.

"You're getting your first treatment."

Alice's demeanor changes from jolly to frightened. She looks at the window and frowns. "It's going to rain today."

Cordelia tilts her head, looks at the window, and smiles. It's going to rain, one of her visions that she had.

Then Alice asks, "Is it going to hurt?"

Cordelia sighed and walked towards her, sitting beside her on the bed, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "They'll go easy on you at first, and I can't say for the next sessions."

Alice then leans into her shoulder and asks, "Will you be here when I get back?"

"Of course, I will be. I'll be by your side during the treatment," Cordelia tells her, and Alice just looks at her with a gentle smile. Cordelia hears footsteps approaching Alice's room. She stands up and opens the door.

Dr. Hughes is standing in front of her, and the man nods, walking away from them. Cordelia sees him going to the room where the treatment will take place.

Cordelia turns around and offers her hand for Alice to take, and she gladly takes it, "You're going to be fine. I'll give you your favorite cookie later," Alice just nods and purses her lips as Cordelia guides her toward the room.

SCREAMING, THAT'S WHAT CORDELIA HEARD ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY. She hated it so much, without a doubt, she wanted to leave the room, to go outside and feel the forest's silence surrounding the hospital, but she couldn't. Even if she wanted to, she just couldn't take it upon herself to leave.

She can't leave Mary Alice all alone. She can't let her go through her first electroshock treatment alone, even if it wounded her to see and hear her in pain. She can't do anything, not while Dr. Hugh is in the room, observing the poor girl who's strapped in the chair.

In all honesty, she can kill Dr. Hugh and let Alice escape, but she can't. Mansion will be furious at her for risking their peaceful stay in the hospital.

And she doesn't like the look he gives her, a scolding look. She promised him that she's never going to take a person whose disappearance will risk their 'blending in' as she quotes and unquote from her adoptive father.

One of the reasons they are staying in the hospitals is that they are taking advantage of this pool of humans who could die without much notice being taken. Gruesome and horrifying, sure.

Cordelia hated it, she had never hated anything so much in the world, and she hated seeing Mary Alice in pain.

The girl doesn't even deserve to be here if it wasn't for her heartless father. Alice's father has to do something about that man.

"That's enough, Dr. Hugh, don't you think?" Cordelia asks as she turns around to face the doctor, who's watching Mary Alice curiously.

The said man shakes his head in disagreement. Looking at his wristwatch, he says, "She still has 30 minutes, Nurse Woodhouse."

Cordelia rolls her eyes and walks towards the man, and looks him straight in the eyes, filling his head with fake yet believable scenarios of Mary Alice finishing her first treatment, "The 30 minutes is up, Dr. Hugh. Can I unstrap her now?" Cordelia asks the man sweetly, and he nods, his eyes dazed, as he exits the room.

Alice looks up at her, confused, as she spits the cloth in her mouth and asks, "What was that?" Cordelia unbuckles the straps and hums, "Nothing you need to know about, now, come you need to rest," She says as she helps Alice stand, the girl's weight on her hold, "I'm tired," Alice murmurs tiredly. Glancing at the window, it's raining.

"I know, you're done for the day. You can get all the rest you need," Cordelia says, leading the girl towards her room.

A new patient was admitted when Alice was having her treatments, a woman named Susan. "You have a new roommate," Cordelia says softly while looking at the occupied bed, carefully helping Alice lay down on her bed.

Alice looks at the woman and nods. "I know," Cordelia chuckles and thinks to herself. Of course, she already knows, "I'll get you dinner and the cookie I promised earlier, okay?" Cordelia tells the girl, and she just nods, and Cordelia exits the room heading towards the cafeteria.

As she was prepping Alice's food, Ginny approached her, seemingly in a hurry, out of breath. Cordelia looks at her and raises an eyebrow.

"What happened to you?" Ginny takes a deep breath and responds, "Typhus fever. Five of our patients already have it."

Ah, yes, typhus fever. It has been going around for almost a week now, the supervisor of the mental hospital disregarded the hospital staff's concerns on the matter, and now, the patients are suffering the consequences of their negligence.

Cordelia sighs and says, "You know what to do, prep the parlor. I'm going to check on my father first." Ginny nods and runs towards the other nurses to give orders.

Cordelia then walks back towards Alice's room, putting the tray on the table. Alice is still sleeping.

She then exits the room and walks towards the hospital's back door towards the garden, heading towards the shed.

She sees Mansion sitting on the bench. "Typhus fever finally reached us," she sighs as she sits beside him, and the man just chuckles, "It is bound to happen. Humans can't escape these things like us, Cordelia."

"I know, I'm just worried for Alice," Cordelia admits to her father, and the man then looks at her with a grin, "Growing attached, I see."

Cordelia smiles and playfully rolls her eyes at him. "Alice is a sweet girl, Father." Mansion then nods, standing up, and offers his hand for her to take and says, "I'm sure she is. Let's hunt, shall we? I'm rather famished."
