Visions of the future
(1920)
"VISIONS OF THE FUTURE, MANSION, WHAT A GIFT SHE HAS," Cordelia informs her father figure, Mansion, as she strolls towards him with an unfinished painted canvas at hand, the man simply glances at her. He continues with fixing the wilted garden of roses.
After a moment of silence, the man speaks up, "Must be a dormant gift. Abilities tend to make an appearance when still human somehow. If that girl is turned into one of us, then she'll have the rarest ability of all our kind. The Volturi will be thrilled if they hear such a gift." He concludes with a slight bit of anger by the end of his statement he wasn't fond of the Volturi.
They were the reason why his kingdom was destroyed in the first place because they were threatened by his coven, a large number of vampires by his side, yet not powerful enough to survive the wrath of the Volturi.
"Then she will not be heard of by them. That girl is already having a tough time in this life, who's to say that even in her second life, she'll be free? If she is caged in those dull chambers of theirs," Cordelia says to him, sitting on the ground and leaning on a tree with her paintbrush and unfinished canvas at hand.
"She won't have a second life; we're not going to change her," Mansion says as he turns around as his eyes and Cordelia connect, and the woman just scoffs and says, "Those treatments will kill her."
"If it does, then we will, cannot bear to lose such a rare gift, then if not, and she leaves that hell of a place, we let her be," Mansion says with a hint of a bargain in his tone.
Cordelia tilts her head, raising an eyebrow at him and says. "You really think that girl is leaving that place anytime soon? I already heard that those cruel people they call doctors that they want to examine her so-called visions, they call her 'mad', makes them curious."
"If anything happens, we will help her," Mansion says with a tone of finality in his voice.
Cordelia smiles gently at him and says, "Well, I'm glad we're on the same page, Father," and the man just smiles at her brightly.

"ANYTHING I CAN DO?" Cordelia asks Ginny at the front desk, and the woman just shakes her head and says, "Not much. You know we hardly have hectic days here."
Cordelia lightly laughs and says, "So treating patients who scream from time to time is not hectic for you?" while she walks behind the front desk, sits on an empty chair, and busies herself with patient's papers.
"You get used to it, two years in this place, screaming is like a natural melody here," Ginny tells her with a laugh as she flips a page of a fashion magazine. Cordelia just smiles and reads a medical analysis of each patient they have.
A few minutes later, they heard crashing, specifically objects being thrown around. Ginny and Cordelia look at each other, and the brunette just sighs and stands up from her seat. "I'll find out what's that about"
"Do tell me when you come back," Ginny tells her with an exasperated look.
And with that, Cordelia heads towards the stairs in a rush, with a pencil almost hitting her face. With the agility she has of being a vampire, she easily catches it.
Some of the benefits, she thoughts to herself while she places the pencil in her pocket as she walks towards the two nurses who are trying not to get hit by a deranged woman.
"Miss Dwight at it again, is she?" Cordelia says, and the two nurses just nod their heads.
"What does she want this time?" Cordelia asks, and Penny answers, "She wants pudding."
"Just give her the pudding and let this mess be over," Cordelia says to them, and Debby raises an eyebrow and says, "You know we can't always give her what she wants. She'll get used to it."
"Then maybe you try receiving those horrendous treatments she endures, and I won't give you pudding. How do you feel about that?" Cordelia asks with a tone of mocking, her crimson red eyes boring into Debby's light blue eyes, and the woman just sighs defeatedly, already agreeing to the idea of giving the hysteric woman her pudding.
Cordelia walks towards the said hysteric woman and makes her recall a relatively calm memory of hers, and the woman just stands still with a pleasant smile on her chapped lips.
"Now, now, Miss Dwight, you have yet to eat your delicious pudding. Penny and Debby will be serving it to you later, before bedtime, okay?"
"Okay," Miss Dwight simply replies as Cordelia escorts her back to her room, with Penny and Debby following behind her, staring at her with curious and intrigued eyes. With Miss Dwight sitting on the end of her bed, Cordelia exits the room and locks it.
"How do you always manage to calm them down?" Penny asks with desperation in her voice as she grabs onto Cordelia's arm, already used to her cold skin.
"I guess I have that certain ambiance, yeah?" Cordelia answers and continues, "That pudding and-" as she unlooses her grip on her arm as points out the objects scattered on the hallway floor. "Clean this up."
"Yes, Ms. Woodhouse," Debby and Penny say in unison with a giggle escaping their lips, and Cordelia just rolls her eyes as she leaves the two behind.
A certain figure catches her eye. As she was walking in the hallway, Mary Alice, on a chair strapped on her side Dr. Hughes and Nurse Flores heard that they were questioning the girl about her so-called visions, they've been trying to get the answers out of her mouth since she arrived here, and that was two days ago, and Cordelia decided to intervene.
"You two know better than anyone that she won't answer. She's rather rattled and scared with you two," Cordelia says with a smile, and Mary Alice suddenly looks at her with a relieved expression on her face.
"And you're any better? We've been trying for two days," Flores says with a scoff while rolling her eyes, and Cordelia answers, "Of course I am. I just have that ambiance around me."
Dr. Hughes just sighs and nods. "I think it would be better if Nurse Cordelia is the nurse assigned to take care of Mary Alice, Nurse Flores."
Nurse Flores then rolls her eyes again and gives the clipboard to Cordelia and says, "Fine," and leaves the room. Dr. Hughes then looks at Cordelia and nods, a signal to do her job, as he leaves the room.
Cordelia then looks at the empty clipboard and smiles as she looks at the girl in front of her and is immediately replaced by a frown.
Her hair is tangled and messy, her clothes all dirty and ruined, her face being oily. Oh, how she was saddened by the sight before her, nonetheless replacing the frown with a gentle smile.
"Hello, Mary Alice, I'm Cordelia Anna, your nurse for the rest of your stay here," she says enthusiastically while looking at the girl in front of her and the girl just laughs, in what Cordelia thought like a beautiful sound of wind chimes and Mary Alice says.
"I know."
