"i would wait forever and ever"
- how you get the girl ; taylor swift
DAHLIA GROANED AS her and her father stood in the middle of King's Cross Station, impatiently waiting for the younger Donnelly sister to finish up whatever conversation she was having with yet another Hogwarts student.
"Surprised anybody is even willing to listen to her voice." Dahlia crossed her arms and rolled her eyes ever so slightly as she threw her head back in annoyance. "Dad, please, yell at her before I do."
The older man eyed the sixteen year old girl with a warning look before moving his attention to Lucie, who was showing off her new book bag and shoes to a slightly younger blonde haired girl. He knew Dahlia was serious when she said she'd yell, and if not the same as him, louder.
"Lucie!"
The girl's bright smile immediately dropped in embarrassment as she snapped her head towards the voice calling for her. She didn't bother to give the girl in front of her a goodbye, but instead, gave a huff and began to pick up her speed towards her family.
Lucie glared at her father, taking her spot beside him as they began to walk again.
Dahlia scoffed at her sisters reaction. "Why are you annoyed? We were the ones stopping about three times for you to speak to these people."
"You're just mad because you have no friends and nobody wants to talk to you," Lucie responded, giving her older sister a dirty look.
Dahlia sarcastically smiled. "Hey, hopefully if you keep doing that face it'll get stuck! Much better than the one you were unfortunately born with."
Lucie scowled as their father gave both of them a disapproving look, shaking his head. As the three were about to settle against a brick wall for a small talk, a pair of third years were throwing a ball to each other. One of the boys accidentally threw the ball too rough and far, clipping Dahlia, causing her to stumble slightly, dropping the three books in her hands.
The young boy dashed over to help, trembling when he saw who he hit.
"H-Hey, I'm really sorry." Stuttering in fear, he attempts to pick up the girl's belongings.
"Leave it."
He continued to reach his hands down for the books.
Dahlia glared at the boy, crouching down on the ground to grab them instead. "I said, leave it!"
The third year slightly jumped at her tone and stood up with no hesitation. Straightening his shirt, he licked his lips before speaking up again in a weak voice.
"If you don't mind, could you please hand me my ball?"
Dahlia looked down at her feet where the ball sat right in front of her shoes. She gave one more look at the boy before reaching down towards it. Once it was in her grasp, she turned around and threw the ball aggressively (thankfully her chaser skills came in handy).
"Go fetch."
The young boy's eyes widened and he whimpered pitifully before he and his friends ran towards the ball.
Once the boys were out of her sight she tightly gripped her book against her chest.
"Such immature things they are," she sneered. "Honestly, who in the right mind plays catch in a crowd of people."
Her father raised his eyebrows at the girl. "Well, they are about twelve or so."
The brunette girl only rolled her eyes at the poor excuse. "Twelve and should know better."
"Right..." Victor pursed his lips before fixing his tie. "Well, as we all know, this year will be a bit different, considering I got the job."
Lucie groaned loudly. "Daddy, why did you just have to get a job here? Having your parent work at your school is just so lame and embarrassing."
"Hey alright, it won't be bad. Back in my days you'd be considered lucky to have a parent working at your school. Meant a bunch of advantages."
The two sisters cringed at their father's words.
"Don't say 'back in my day' again. And remind me, why do you have to take the train with us?" Lucie frowned. "Couldn't you have used Apparition like every other Professor does?"
Victor let out a snort. "Well what's the fun in that? It's my first day with my two favorite girls!"
Neither girls broke out into a smile and Victor sighed in defeat before going on about their behavioral expectations. Both girls were barely listening, Lucie reapplying her lipgloss and Dahlia looking around the station with her arms crossed.
Her eyes landed on Harry Potter and his two friends that never left his side, who were all staring at the family, clearly speaking as they did so. She furrowed her eyebrows at them and they immediately widened their eyes in fear and looked away.
She slightly smiled to herself in satisfactory before turning her attention back to her dad.

ON THE OTHER side of the station, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger all stood together as they stared at the Donnelly family.
"Woah," Harry said in awe as his attention was mainly set on Lucie.
He saw how her slender figure was outlined by a simple white sundress that complimented her so well. Her curly brunette locks were held back by two mini butterfly clips, revealing the softness of her features. Her eyes were fixed on her own reflection in a small mirror she was holding, paying no mind to her father as he spoke to the two girls. Harry noticed the way her lips parted in a small pout as she applied a layer of lipgloss. The movement was deliberate as she slightly tilted her head up for a better look. She looked so stunning from afar, he couldn't even imagine how it would be if he were closer.Β
"Stop staring at her so hard Harry," Hermione growled.
The girl's words broke Harry out of his trance.
"It's creepy."
"She's right mate," Ron spoke up from beside the boy. "Might as well go up to her."
Harry perked up at his best friend's words and adjusted his glasses. "Good idea!"
Before the raven haired boy was able to take one step, Hermione was quick to grab him by
the shoulder pulling him back.
"No! Save yourself from embarrassment, please."
Harry tried to protest but eventually gave up since it was Hermione, after all.
"Besides her father and sister are right there," the bushy haired girl reminded.
They all internally shuddered at the sight of Dahlia Donnelly. It wasn't that they had anything against the girl, it was just.. well she's Dahlia.
"Heard she made some snarky remarks to Snape last year," Ron stated. "Almost got her suspended and someone swore they saw him tear up!"
Before another word was spoken, they realized that Dahlia was staring back at them with her eyebrows furrowed. In not even a second, the trio snapped their heads away.
Hermione was the first one to speak after the three of them stayed silent for a good couple seconds.
"Well, off to the train we go. All the compartments will be full if we wait any longer."
She gave a tight smile before turning away, making her way onto the train with the two boys trailing behind her.
Harry took one last glance at the Donnelly family as he noticed all three of them making their way onto the train as well.
