𝖝. That's Wicked!

That's Wicked!
(1971)
"WHAT QUIDDITCH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT?"
James asks them intently, leaning forward with his arms on his leg, hands clasped together. "Your answers are very important to me; it depends on if we can take this friendship to a new level for us all."
Viviane softly laughs, "That's a bit too much, James."
Sirius shrugs, slowly nodding as he puckered his lips to his side, hand rubbing his chin, thinking thoughtfully, "He is right, Viv. Quidditch should be the main basis of every friendship."
Viviane just raised an eyebrow as the three boys went silent; Viviane could practically hear their thoughts through the silence as James scanned them one by one. Pointing a finger towards Remus with squinted eyes. Remus' eyes widened as he stuttered nervously. "Pu–puddlemere United, of course."
"Brilliant answer, Remus." James commends with a curt nod, then his eyes go to Sirius.
"That's the only right answer." Sirius nods, "Puddlemere United as well."
Peter then answers after hours of keeping his mouth shut. He can never stay silent when it comes to Quidditch. "Ballycastle Bats." Then Sirius and James raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
"Yeah, they've won twice already since 1967. They've won since they first joined the Quidditch World Cup, and they also won last year. They're bloody good." Peter defends both Sirius and James making their own sounds of agreement.
Remus then looks at Viviane curiously, "What Quidditch team do you support, Viv?" Viviane blinks at him for a while. It was actually nice to be included in a conversation.
Viviane shrugs, looking at Sirius, "I don't really like Quidditch." Popping a Sherbert lemon into her mouth with a tantalising look in her eyes.
James gasped, "That's just wrong!"
Peter stutters, "Everybody likes Quidditch."
Viviane shrugs while Remus chuckles.
Sirius scoffs, rolling his eyes, "Utterly bullshit, Viv."
Viviane giggles, waving her hand in dismissal, "It's so easy to ruffle your feathers." Viviane then says with a smile, "I like Puddlemere United too." With an assuring tone, "I even watched the game last year because we got a personal invitation from the Minister."
The shocked expression from the three boys is highly hilarious to Viviane. After all, the Quidditch World Cup occurs every four years. And they probably need to be allowed by their parents to go.
Sirius scoffs again—he remembered reading Viviane's letter, bragging that she's going with her Mother and Father to the Quidditch World Cup because the Minister gave her Father tickets to the Top Box. And he wasn't even allowed by Walburga and Orion.
"Oh! Come off it, Sirius. It's been a year. I told you I would take you when Father gets invited again." Viviane gushes as she wraps an arm around his arm. Sirius crosses his arms to his chest, releasing a huff.
"You better or I'll—"
"You'll be what." Viviane removes her hold on him as she fully faces him and widens her eyes toward him, threatening him—for joking purposes.
Sirius then sighs with a pout, eyes looking at her in pleading, "Or I'll be awfully sad." Viviane laughs again. Lightly slapping his shoulder.
A voice echoed through the train: "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes time. Please leave your luggage on the train; it will be taken to the school separately." They all beamed, each with their own excited and nervous expressions.
Viviane then looks at the four boys, "You four ought to get ready," Viviane then stands up. Looking at Sirius, James, and Peter as she adds, "And wear your robes." Knowing that Remus was already wearing his.
Then she takes her wand from her pocket, waving it in a circle and tapping the end of her wand to her clothes as her robes appear, descending down to her ankles. Newly ironed and well-fitted because it is sewn in her measurement.
"That's just wicked." Remus comments in awe.
"Thank you," Viviane responds with an ever-so-humble tone.
Sirius mutters playfully, "Show off."
Viviane swats him lightly. "Prat,"
"Swot,"
James raises an eyebrow at them, ignoring, and asks curiously as he smooths out his robe. "How'd you do that? Looks advanced."
"Because it is." Sirius confirms, "Told you—"
"She's smart." Remus, James, and Peter speak in unison. Viviane shakes her head as the train slows. Viviane opened the compartment doors, peeking slightly as the students exited the train. Viviane stepped out, walking along the narrow corridors as the boys followed behind her.
The train slowed right down and finally stopped. People pushed their way toward the door and out onto a small, dark platform. Blimey, it's cold; Viviane rubbed her arms with her hands as smoke-like vapor came out of her mouth as she sighed heavily. Sirius stood beside her left while Remus was to her left. James and Peter are behind them.
Then a lamp came bobbing over the heads of the students, "Firs years! Firs' years over here! All right there?" A big hairy face beamed over the sea of heads. Viviane's eyes widened; she had never seen a giant man before.
"Woah," James expressed, eyes wide.
"C'mon, follow me — any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!" Slipping and stumbling, they followed the giant man down what seemed to be a steep, narrow path. It was so dark on either side of them. Nobody spoke much. Until Sirius couldn't contain himself, he whispered to them.
"Are you sure this man isn't going to feast on us?" Viviane slaps his arm, looking at him scoldingly. "Sirius!" She whispered-yell.
"I'm just stating an opinion." Sirius defends with a scowl, rubbing that arm that made contact with Viviane's hand.
"You're scaring Peter, for Merlin's sake." Viviane points her eyes as she looks over her shoulder, seeing Peter with a horrified expression.
"Mate, ever learned to have a good laugh?" Sirius's eyebrows furrowed together as Viviane snatched his arm, as they followed the man leading them the way
"Yeh'll get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec," He called over his shoulder, "just round this bend here."
There was a loud "Oooooh!"
The narrow path suddenly opened onto the edge of a great black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in the starry sky was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.
"No more'n four to a boat!" The man called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by the shore. And they looked at each other, seemingly silent, as Remus finally said. "I'll just join another boat."
"Nonsense!" Viviane says with a sigh; she can already tell how uncomfortable Remus gets with new people. So she smiles, "I'll see you all at the castle." Viviane steps back as a hand grabs her hand.
Sirius looked at her, "Are you sure, Viv? I can join another, and you can stay here."
Viviane shakes her head in denial. As she lightly removed Sirius' hand. "It's alright, after all. You'll be in the same house. It's best if you get to know each other more." She tells them, while Sirius looks like he's going to start an argument with her.
"Would you like me to join you, Viv?" James asks. Viviane smiles, "You're too kind, James. It's fine." Viviane says, walking away as Remus's eyes follow her—why didn't Peter bloody volunteer to join another boat? Viviane's presence is much more pleasant than his judgemental eyes. Remus refrains from scoffing as they walk towards their boat.
Viviane scanned the crowd, looking for a group of students that would likely be nice enough to allow her to join for a while. Then she spotted the blonde girl from earlier when Viviane was looking for a compartment. She's with two other girls, a girl with black hair, apple-cut hair with full bangs, and a brunette girl with long wavy hair.
Viviane walked towards them, asking, "Mind if I joined for a bit?"
The blonde girl from early, her hair tied into a ponytail, didn't answer. Instead, she stepped into the boat; Viviane frowned, looking at the two other girls; the girl with short hair shrugged, not minding her presence—looking shy, while the girl with long hair nodded.
"It's alright. We're also one short." She smiled as they walked towards the boat, sitting beside each other while the two girls sat opposite them. The boat started to move. Gliding across the lake, which was as smooth as glass.
Viviane faces the brunette girl, handing out her hand to her, "My name's Viviane Hawthorne." Viviane introduces.
The girl beamed, "Myra Andrea Reyes. Call me Myra." She shakes Viviane's hand.
"Reyes?" Viviane queries as she continues, "Is your mother any chance Olivia Reyes?"
The girl nodded excitedly. "Yeah! Now I remember it, she mentioned that we're in the same year and said that your mother and her are friends."
"They are! It's nice to finally meet you!" Viviane exclaimed as they hugged each other. Pulling away, Viviane faced the person before her and asked, "What are your names?"
"Aurora Parkinson." The girl with bangs says shyly. Almost a whisper.
Parkinson.
Finally, she finally has a name that she can write in her letter to her Father.
Viviane turns towards the blonde girl in a ponytail.
"Calista Louise Wadsworth. Call me Calista." The blonde introduces with poise in her features as she faces away from them. Viviane thinks that she's insanely pretty. Looking towards the scenery in front of her. Staring up at the great castle overhead. It towered over them as they sailed nearer and nearer to the cliff on which it stood.
"Heads down!" yelled the man as the first boats reached the cliff; they all bent their heads, and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, taking them right underneath the castle until they reached a kind of underground harbour, where they clambered onto rocks and pebbles.
Then they clambered up a passageway in the rock after the man's lamp, coming out at last onto smooth, damp grass right in the castle's shadow. They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the massive oak front door.
The man raised a gigantic fist and knocked on the castle door thrice.
The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," The man said.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here."
Hagrid. Viviane made sure to remember his name because, for the looks of it, he was the groundskeeper.
She pulled the door wide. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors. Then Viviane felt someone pull onto her sleeves; she was then faced with Remus. Saying a quick goodbye to Myra and the other two girls.
"Hello, again!" Viviane lightly giggles as Sirius, James, and Peter shuffle behind Remus.
They followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. Viviane could hear the drone of hundreds of voices from a doorway to the right — the rest of the school must already be here— but Professor McGonagall showed the first years into a small, empty chamber off the hall.
They crowded in, standing somewhat closer together than they would usually have done, peering about nervously.
