𝖎𝖎. Chief Charlie Swan
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐎:
Chief Charlie Swan
MONTH OF JANUARY, almost the end of the school year's winter semester.
Alice Cullen had a glimpse of the new girl named Isabella Swan.
Bella Swan is Chief Swan's only child, Thalia recalled Charlie telling her that his daughter is coming back to the small town after years had passed, and the man also mentioned how worried he was about his daughter adjusting to the town. He said that Bella doesn't like the rainy and cloudy Forks.
Thalia adored Charlie, she remembered her father in the man, so Thalia took it upon herself to give Charlie homemade food, with the help of Esme, of course.
It had been two years since she cooked human food, and she was anxious that she lost her touch in making a delicious homemade meal, so she called Celia, and the old woman gave her instructions that she happily followed.
Charlie told Thalia that he didn't know how to cook, so he always ate at the diner nearby the police station called Carver Café.
Thalia immediately offered to cook for him, including all packed, ready-to-eat food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
At first, Charlie disagreed. He doesn't like to be a bother. He knows that Thalia is occupied with her job and taking care of 4 teenage kids, which he thought was already a handful of a task.
Thalia quickly dismissed his concern, telling him that the kids could now take care of themselves and reasoned that she and Carlisle had taught them well enough to care for themselves since they are old.
They had a family meeting of the matter at hand, of course, as usual, to see if the others agree to a minor interaction with a human in Forks, nonetheless the Chief of the town.
Esme Cullen already loved the idea of cooking food for Charlie, a sense of domestication that she cherished deeply washed over her.
Alice and Emmett also agreed. Seeing that Charlie lives alone, it was kind of Thalia to do something nice for the man.
Carlisle and Christopher didn't need any convincing from their wives.
They saw how Thalia and Esme were so happy to do something to help Charlie ease his loneliness and that it also didn't bring any harm in cooking a delicious meal for the man, and they agreed.
Rosalie and Edward, well, not so much. They didn't see the thought of cooking a decent meal for a human. Another reason is that Charlie's old enough to take care of himself.
Thalia immediately reasoned that she saw her father, Karl, in Charlie, and they didn't argue afterward. They all know how Thalia adored her father.
Lastly, Jasper didn't speak his mind when the meeting took place. It's always the same. He'll talk to Carlisle privately about what he thought. When the voting happened, Jasper remained neutral.
After the meeting, he talked to Thalia while the others hunted for the rest of the weekend, and he told her how thoughtful she was for doing something nice for Charlie.
Jasper recalled his own mama's cooking and how appetizing it smelled, so he agreed and even offered his help.
Just like what he remembered he had done with his mama, that was what he does remembers. His human memories are slowly fading to oblivion.
And after all that, Charlie couldn't help but feel grateful for the new family. He doesn't even know why Billy is always furious when it comes to the topic of the Cullen family.
He does admit it at the beginning. He was intimidated, a little afraid, and confused at the number of the new family and how unusual they looked, but, hey, never judge a book by its cover, he reasoned to himself.
He's thankful that Carlisle even chose such a small town to reside in and even applied for the surgeon position when he could've applied in any hospital in the world and make ten times the salary he gets instead of the low salary income that Forks Community Hospital has to offer.
He was surprised when Thalia told him she was a teacher in the large city of Manhattan, New York.
Thalia wanted a quiet and peaceful surrounding, so they chose Forks, and she applied to teach English to high schoolers.
It must've been a big change of scenery on the one that Thalia got used to, Charlie thought to himself again.
And he was even more surprised by the information that Thalia told him that Esme Cullen is a licensed architect and that Christopher Davis is a licensed Engineer, meaning they both passed the board for their intelligence.
The town should be thankful that the Cullens chose such a dull town, Charlie thought again. With such big-time occupations, they wouldn't have any projects or progress in this small town.
Charlie felt a sense of deep respect for the Cullen family, he had doubts when he saw how many adopted teenagers Thalia and Carlisle had, yet they were all mature and hadn't had one speck of trouble for any of them.
He also admired how the family had a strong bond and how they stuck together on camping trips every weekend, and how he saw them enjoying each other's company.
He wishes to have the same with his own daughter Bella.
So when Thalia listens to Charlie's unknowing plead for company, she happily visits him and cooks at his house with Esme, well, when complications such as Billy Black don't come by.
Charlie's place of residence is a neutral zone for the treaty that the Quileute tribe and Cullen Coven agreed upon.
"Come now, Thalia needs to get to school early," Esme tells them as she gives Thalia her bag, and Esme's maternal instincts very much touch Thalia.
"Why should we even go with her? We're going to be 1 hour early, again," Emmett grumbles as he stumps his feet on the marbled floors, and Esme warns him about how she cleaned the floors earlier.
"Wouldn't you like that? A good student record?" Thalia teases while her heel clicks echo in the house and walk down the stairs with Carlisle following behind her with his coat hanging neatly hanging in his right shoulder.
"We had good student records for decades. The teachers at that school even think that we should be in college because of our perfect grades," Edward answers.
It is true, all the teachers and even the students at the school think so, that they were all too smart to be in high school.
They reasoned that Thalia, their 'adoptive mother,' did an excellent job teaching them in advanced courses.
Emmett is still glum by the fact that Jasper beat him at their wrestling game during the night. It would take all his limited patience to make it to the end of the school day to orchestrate a rematch.
Jasper, well, Jasper is still silent. He still has a hard time controlling his thirst. Thalia, Esme, and Alice's encouragement can only help so little at this point.
Edward told Thalia that the honey-blonde man shouldn't force his limits, and the brunette immediately shut down his statement and said that he should give Jasper the benefit of the doubt.
Rosalie didn't care about anything at this point, well, except for her sense of self-worth and how gorgeous she looked.
She spent all day talking to her wife and telling her how annoyed she was by Edward and his ability to read minds.
Her wife asked her if she should go home, and Rosalie dismissed the idea and said that she had eternity to get used to it and that her wife shouldn't go home from her trip to England because of her irritation with Edward.
"Another day at the purgatory," Edward grumbles as he enters his Volvo with Alice and Jasper following suit.
Thalia shakes her head and placed a light kiss on Carlisle's lips, they separated ways as she followed Rosalie, entering Emmett's jeep, and they drove to Forks High School, Home of the Spartans
