Know thy enemy
(S2:E4 - Memory Lane)
"THIS TOWN IS MORE INTERESTING THAN YOU, AND I HAVE THOUGHT," Genesis says over the phone. She was talking to Niklaus about how her day went yesterday and what Cassandra told her about what she knew about Mystic Falls and the people in it.
The humans.
Elena Gilbert. She almost died on the wickery bridge but was saved by Stefan Salvatore. Her adoptive parents weren't so lucky to survive the accident, and ever since then, the girl has been a magnet for danger. Cassandra is doing her best not to let her undercover get discovered that she's secretly watching over the girl so that when the time comes for Niklaus wanting to break his curse, Elena Gilbert is alive, breathing, and human as much as possible.
Jeremy Gilbert. The impulsive brother of Elena Gilbert. He used to be a druggie, according to what Giana told Clementine, and Clementine told Cassandra, the girl that he liked Vicki Donavan, died with a wooden stake in her heart and was on a mission since then to find out what was going on in her sister's life. He found out. Fell in love with another vampire named Anna, but the girl died too.
Jenna Sommers. Aunt of Elena and Jeremy Gilbert. She knows nothing about the supernatural things her nephew and niece got themselves into.
John Gilbert. The biological father of Elena Gilbert, the old lover of Isobel Flemming. Nosy father. Cassandra told Genesis to keep an eye out for him.
Alaric Saltzman. Semi-retired vampire hunter. A history professor in the local high school. Dating Jenna Sommers. Friend of Damon Salvatore. The man that was with them yesterday. Cassandra said Giana told her that Alaric's wife died-but not really since Isobel is still very much alive-a vampire.
Matt Donavan. Collateral Damage. Cassandra doesn't care enough for him to know what his involvement is. She assumed that the boy didn't know anything.
Georgiana Forbes. The eldest daughter of the sheriff Elizabeth Forbes. Sister of Caroline Forbes. Have been dragged into this mess ever since her sister turned into a vampire. She knows that Cassandra and Clementine are witches. Still, she keeps her pretty little lips zipped shut since she blames Elena and the Salvatore brothers-mostly Damon for sexually harassing Caroline while she's human and compelling it all away. And blaming Elena for getting Caroline in the whole vampire crap.
Elizabeth Forbes. She has been part of the founding families since she got married to a Forbes. Grew up hearing and hating about vampires. She doesn't know that one of her daughters is a vampire. A close friend of Cassandra since Giana and Clementine have been good friends since they moved. Cassandra respects Lizzie at best.
The supernaturals.
The vampires.
Damon Salvatore. Visited Mystic Falls before Elena got into an accident. Been finding a way to open the tomb underneath the Church ruins. Impulsive. Murderous tendencies. Idiotic in Cassandra's terms. The reason why Sheila Bennett died and, since then, Simon Bennett hated the Salvatores and Elena.
Stefan Salvatore. The usual. Would die for Elena, sadly. All about protecting Elena. Not much to tell, Cassandra said.
Caroline Forbes. Daughter of the sheriff Elizabeth Forbes, younger sister of Georgiana Forbes. She turned into a vampire because of an accident, and Damon fed her his blood. Cassandra eventually knew from what Genesis had learned. Katherine killed her, assuming that Caroline would be the vampire that would be sacrificed-and for Genesis, that won't do.
The witches.
Bonnie Bennett. The new witch that is coming to terms with her magic. She doesn't know how to say no to Elena that's why her brother does it for her. Been dragged and stepped on by Elena and the Salvatores for a long time. Used and manipulated and Genesis had a feeling that Elena and Bonnie won't be friends for much longer.
Simon Bennett. Older brother of Bonnie Bennett. He is a powerful warlock, but the Salvatores don't know that he's practicing magic. A resident doctor at the hospital Cassandra is working in. Good friends with Cassandra, and from what she knows. Simon has been consulting her on what city is good to move into. He wanted to get Bonnie the hell out of this town before Elena and the Salvatores could potentially kill Bonnie because she was drained of using her magic.
Werewolves.
Mason Lockwood. The mayor's brother went MIA, but then his brother died, and now he's back in town for whatever reason. And Genesis is going to find out why.
Tyler Lockwood. The mayor's son. Untriggered werewolf. Confused and curious about why his uncle is back.
"Interesting indeed," Niklaus replies, and with the tone that he used, Genesis knows he's grinning.
"My stuff better be delivered tomorrow. I need that wolfsbane. I don't want to go empty-handed." Genesis tells him, looking around the forest. It was only where she could talk to Niklaus without any vampire listening to their conversation. She could use sage, but that would be too suspicious. Damon and Stefan don't know that she still has access to her magic.
And Stefan is actually trying to get something out of Katherine in the basement. Genesis thinks Katherine's pretend won't last long.
"Don't worry, love. It'll be there by tomorrow. I'm a little preoccupied at the moment. I'll call again tomorrow."
"Fine." Genesis ends the call. Niklaus chuckles as he turns around. He's in a warehouse. Before him are coffins with his siblings daggered inside, and one, in particular, is undaggered.
"Had some beauty rest, brother?" Niklaus greets a furious and scowling Elijah.
"I told you not to do anything." Elijah's jaw tightens as he fixes his collar, loosening his tie.
"Relax," Niklaus says as he raises his hands in mock surrender. "She still doesn't remember. I just need her close so I can easily keep an eye on her." Niklaus reasons with a shrug, placing the dagger on Elijah's empty coffin and closing it shut.
"So, why did you wake me, brother? Is there something you need from me, I presume." Elijah questions, looking around the warehouse. "What year is it exactly?'
"2011," Niklaus answers, and Elijah takes a deep breath, calming himself, not wanting to burst out. "I've been daggered for 27 years," Elijah states with a hum as he fixes his suit that Niklaus gave him to change into.
"Oh, don't be such a ninny. Finn's been daggered for 900 years, and I don't hear him complaining." Niklaus chuckles as he points his hand to Finn's coffin.
"Because he is daggered, Niklaus!" Elijah exclaims, his deep voice echoing around the warehouse. He is suddenly in front of Niklaus, grabbing his shoulder tightly.
"Now, why did you wake me?" Elijah demands as Niklaus removes his hand from his shoulder, shrugging.
"I found a doppelgänger, and Genesis has been helping me." Niklaus tells him with honesty, "I can break my curse, Elijah. And you know what that means."
"After you turn into a hybrid, we kill Mikael. And undagger our siblings. I will help you with whatever it is that you need, but I need you to give your word that you will undagger them." Elijah's voice is tight and commanding, with no room for argument. Niklaus complies with a nod.
"I give you my word," Niklaus promises and continues. "Mikael is desiccated and locked in a tomb by a Bennett witch. He was looking for the doppelgänger, and they took care of him."
"Well. It makes it easier for us to kill him."
"I've been looking at where he is exactly. Looks like the witch who has done it only knows where he is." Niklaus reveals, and Elijah sighs.
"That is a problem. What is Genesis doing exactly in Mystic Falls?" Elijah asks curiously.
"Preparing the ingredients needed for the sacrifice. But Damon Salvatore called her asking for help because Katerina is also in Mystic Falls trying to torment my doppelgänger, I assume." Niklaus informs Elijah, who is listening to his every word, and he nods.
"And what do you need me to do?"
"Wait first. The news of the doppelgänger has spread, and many will try to get in contact with you and me. They'll do something to get the doppelgänger in their hands and what you'll do is offer your help to the girl, pretending that you are against me. We need to ruffle their feathers a bit. Be your noble self, and I'm sure the girl will fall into your trap." Niklaus grins, clasping his hands to his back as Elijah ponders. He purses his lips.
"How is she?"
"She's not the woman you once knew, Elijah. She's feistier than ever, even irritates and annoys me more, but I endure, for you and in the name of her being family." Niklaus starts and sighs, "She's afraid of letting people in, Elijah. She's afraid of loss. It took me a while for her to show me her real self."
Elijah tucks his hands in his pockets, looking away with longing in his eyes, "After Mikael is dead. You can bring back her memories." Niklaus looks at him in surprise. Then Elijah says, determined.
"I give you my word, brother."
