Lonnie raced down the hallway of the boy's dorm room. She had been listening in on Jay and Carlos' conversation with Chad. She hadn't meant to be eavesdropping, she was passing by to get to the fencing gym, she had been meaning to let out some frustration. But then Chad mentioned that Ben's been captured. And Dude talked, that was sure enough to get anyone to eavesdrop.

Her plan was simple: either she goes with the boys to the Isle of the Lost or she tells the Fairy Godmother everything. Her adrenaline was running high, the thoughts and fear of the Isle not bothering her as much as they used to, and the rush of blackmail getting her what she wanted. Lonnie's mom was different from the other kid's moms. Theirs were tragic and cursing, filled with magic and true loves kiss. Her mom didn't enter the war for a prince, she did it for her family and her home. Did she get a husband out of it? Sure, that was a bonus. But either way, Mulan didn't enter the war in the most legal way, and it looks like Lonnie will have to follow in her mother's footsteps to change the way people think about herself as well. And she was fine with it.

Along the way to picking up extra swords in case things got messy quick, and if it was the Isle, it probably would, Lonnie ran into another student. "Sorry," She apologized, dropping a few swords on the ground. When she bent to pick them up, she noticed the long blood red dress that covered the person's feet. Due to it being night and trying to sneak the weapons out discreetly, no one could tell who it was she bumped into. But the red dress gave it away. No one wore long red dresses to school, red was considered a power-hungry color, and was used mainly in accessories. The rose of Belle's ensemble, the jewels in most royals crowns, the ruby slippers of Dorothy. And no one also wore long dresses or ballgowns unless it was to ball of course. But one person did always wear long red dresses, it was none other than Ruby Queen herself. Daughter of the Red Queen of Wonderland.

"Lonnie, dear, what could you possibly need with so many swords?" Ruby tilted her head in wonder. Her voice was strong yet elegant. She spoke as though she knew what you were doing, or what you were thinking. As though she had all the answers, and frankly, it was the perfect way to make everyone else unsure as to how to go beyond their day. Ruby was quite possibly the scariest of the WKs. She wasn't British like most of the Wonderlanders, but she did have a faint accent somewhere that phased out and back in, time and time again. Just another thing that made her so intriguing.

"Ruby! Good to see you! Have you done something with your hair?" She tried unsuccessfully to change topics.

"Avoiding the question are we?" She wagged her finger as to tut tut tut. "What would the Auradoners think of that?"

Lonnie decided she could be threatening too. "What would they think of you if they find out Jax Hatter had something to do with capturing Ben?" At the catch of Jax's name did Ruby's focus turned from amused to serious in a matter of a millisecond.

"Jax?" Her voice almost quivered but Ruby new better than that. She would never cower in front of others, it wasn't because of weakness but because of respect. "Jax was involved in the abduction of King Benjamin?" Her voice, no longer surprised, but almost- impressed.

"Yes, and until you promi-"

"Lonnie, darling, I've got far more important places to be at the moment than to stand here frightening you in the dark. I'll keep your secret if you do a small task for me." The Queen kindly offered. Her smile was sickly sweet, both girls knew it wasn't a nice smile, but rather an all-knowing one. One that said 'this is your only option.'

"What do you want?"

"Give a message to Jax for me." She ordered.

Lonnie's eyes widened. "I am not going anywhere near that maniac." She refused.

"Funny how madness and genius are often misinterpreted. You will do this because while Auradon cares not for what happens on the Isle of the Lost, they do care about their royals. What would they say to not just Lady Mal going there in secret, but also their king, Lonnie Shang and the supposed rehabilitated villain kids going there as well?"

"What's the message?" Lonnie accepted her fate.

"The slithy chialers shall soon gyre and outgrabe.
We in the tulgey, frumious and no longer mimsy with our snicker-snacks.
Mome we go to let out the Bandersnatch."

She drawled out the words. Believed to be nonsense or riddles, it didn't matter seeing as it was only Wonderlandians that could properly understand their way of communication. She repeated it once, and again, and once more being sure the Chinese girl remembered.

"What does it mean?" She found herself asking, she was also just thinking if it was all a joke and it meant nothing.

"Why isn't it obvious?" Lonnie shook her head no. "Oh well, don't fret, for him, it will be. Run along now, dear, you've got a message to deliver." With her head raised high and her dress lifted, she turned back and began to walk away.

"Hey wait a second!" She realized something. "I never mentioned the VK's. How did you know they were apart of this?"

Ruby, deciding it be better to answer the girl rather than to dole out the conversation for another hour, turned back to her. "Ben would never go to the Isle himself unless it was for Mal, and where Mal goes, her pack tends to follow. Call it a simple deduction." She smiled and then proceeded to walk away again. Only, it wasn't a simple deduction, it was so much more than that.

Before Ruby was completely out of Lonnie's vision, she halted and spoke to her from behind. "Do be careful around Jax, I worry he's forgotten who his friends are."

Lonnie then realized something else, she never mentioned that Mal had gone to the Isle either.

"Jaxy?" Harry asked when he came into their shared room on the ship. Uma obviously stayed in the Captain's Quarters, but being the First Mate also gave Harry a room for himself, to which he shares with Jax. He hanged his long red leather coat on the rack and proceeded to look around.

When he entered the room, it was disheveled and sloppy, not the first time it's been this way.

Living with Jax was always a surprise, one day the room is littered with notes of equations and theories, another it's horribly clean and orderly that it's a bit unweary compared to the other messy rooms that exist on the Isle.

Then another, he's throwing knives at the wall, it's chaos, and Harry loves it. But every now and then, the chaos dies out and is overcome with reality.

Jax remembers his home more clearly and gets stuck in his head with all the memories. Sometimes it's happy ones, but it's almost always the traumatic ones.

Unlike most of the children on the Isle of the Lost, Jax was actually loved by his father. So the worst day of his life was when they took him away from his home. Jax was never the same after that.

"Jax?" He finally saw him huddle in the corner of the room, muttering to himself. "Jaxy." He moved faster, but not too quick to scare the boy. Harry had to remind himself, it was like approaching a frightened animal, one wrong move, and it's bad for everyone.

Jax gazed at him, fear struck his eyes, "Harry." He croaked.

With that, Harry knew he had permission to kneel in front of his boyfriend. "Hey," He called out. "Tell me, what's the last thing you re'mber?" Most people on the Isle would have seen this as weak. But not Harry, no, instead he saw how long Jax held himself together for so long. That was stronger than anything he'd ever seen before.

Whenever this happened, it was because of the blackouts. Jax always thought he would get drunk and that was the cause, but being with Harry, he learned that it happened more frequently than usual.

"Um, ah, we-we were in the backroom of the Chip Shoppe, and Uma walked in on us. Told us to get out and screw somewhere else, we came back here, and that was it. Next thing I know, I'm walking down the stairs to our room and I- I freaked."

Harry leaned to place a hand on his cheek which caused the Hatter to look at him. "You're alright, you're okay, it hasn't been that long."

Jax started to get up, "What's been happening?"

"Well, for starters, we've captured the King of Auradon and have plans to exchange him for the magic wand Uma wants to badly." Harry learned it had been better to just spill it all out. A few other times, Jax finding out by himself had been much more difficult to handle.

"We captured Ben?! The wand?! Oh, bloody hell!" He buried his face with his hands. "This is not what I was expecting." He muttered.

"We 'aven't tortured him if that's what yer worried about." Harry snuck in a sarcastic quip.

"What?" That made Jax snap his head up quickly to the pirate. "No, I don't care about that! I just can't believe I was stupid enough to go through with it. I had a different plan, oh, bloody hell, and that damned wand? What was I-" He stopped mid-rant. He had realized something. "Uma's going to be taking control of the wand isn't she?" He turned to his boyfriend.

"Yes," Harry answered strangely. "It was your idea from the start."

"Apparently." He chuckled.

Then something happened. Jax looked to the distance, then to the floor. He shook his head. It went on for less than a minute, but when he came back, he wasn't his Jax. He wasn't Harry's Jax.

"Have those traitors arrived with the bloody wand already?" He demanded from the pirate. This Jax still loved him, he believed it, he had to.

"Any minute now," Harry responded.

Jax nodded, "Well, let's get on with it." He moved to the door and climbed up the stairs, not giving Harry a second look.

Harry will always love Jax. No matter how long or how much he changed. His only fear was how long until he would get to see his Jax?

OKAY IM MAD!
(not a pun on the book title)

SO FOR SOME REASON, WATTPAD DELETED A HUGE PART OF MY EMOTIONAL SCENE BETWEEN JAX AND HARRY.

I TRIED TO RE-CREATED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

I DONT KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU REMEMBER READING IT, BUT I WROTE SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR MY A/N:

Jax has an undiagnosed mental disorder. It was developed from the trauma of being separated from Wonderland and then the little of it that he had left: his friends. Being isolated from any other Wonderlander left parts of himself scattered. But it's Wonderland, they have conditions that only exist in their land, so we don't really know much about it. The only question is which part of him is scattered, his mind or his soul?

ALSO, WATCH OUT FOR
RUBY QUEEN

She is played by the beautiful and talented Zendaya and is part of a much larger series that I plan on making.

And please don't ship them, they are strictly brotp. Effing friendship goals I swear.
