nerve racking
—
Leilani was an amazing friend.
And being the amazing friend she is, decided to accompany Scott and Derek on their journey to find Derek's betas, Erica and Boyd. Though in doing this, she didn't think she'd have to watch Derek show off his 'alpha moves' by climbing a ladder in the most dramatic way possible.
As she and Scott watched the man, she had yet to notice the McCall's hesitance.
"Why are you so dramatic?" Leilani asked, looking up at him.
Derek glanced at her with raised brows before signaling for her and Scott to follow him. She rolled her eyes, glancing over at Scott before blowing out a breath and grabbing onto the ladder.

Carter stared into space as she was practically forced to listen to the sound of Stiles' feet dragging against the ground as he paced. At this point she was ready to cut the boys legs off in order to get him to sit still.
"I can't take waiting around like this, you know? It's nerve-racking. My nerves are racked. They're severely racked. Racked."
"I could beat you unconscious and wake you when it's over." Peter suggested. His words got an immediate threatening look from Carter,
"You most definitely will not." She looked away from the man and over to Stiles, "But seriously if you say 'racked' one more time it's going to be a problem."
Stiles sighed heavily before looking at the blonde, "You think Erica's really dead?"
"You think I really care?" Peter interrupted.
"I wasn't talking to you." He scoffed at the man before starting up another sentence, "I just... I don't understand the bank, though, okay? Wha... like, why wouldn't they chain them up in some underground lair or something? They're an Alpha pack, right? So shouldn't they have a lair?"
"Stiles..." Carter looked at him oddly, mouth slightly opened in disbelief.
"They're werewolves, not bond villains." Peter finished the girl's sentence.
"Wait a sec. Wait a sec. Maybe they're hiding there. You know?" He said, eyes darting between the two.
"No, Stiles, we don't know." Carter mumbled in a monotone voice.
"Like, maybe the bank vault reminds them of their little wolf dens." The Stilinski continued.
Peter and Carter's eyes widen in shock, "Wolf dens?"
"There's no way." Carter head fell into her hands.
"Yeah, wolf dens. Where do you live?" Stiles asked the former alpha.
"In an underground network of caves hidden deep in the woods." Peter said so nonchalantly that Carter couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
And of course, Stiles believed him, "Whoa, really?"
Carter could only sigh. Her eyes closed as she just chose to pretend she didn't hear what was just said.

Leilani's eyes darted around in confusion.
She couldn't help but feel as if someone else was in the vault with them, the energy of the place just felt so crowded. Of course she knew that there is a possibility that Erica and Boyd are here but she still felt as if something was off.
She began to think of what Scott said to Derek about risk and reward before they walked in. They truly don't know enough information to just run in head first.
She looked up from the floor at the sound of Derek shouting for Boyd. Before she could shut him up, Scott's phone started to ring, only adding on to her stress.
"Scott! Scott! No, listen to me, okay? Look, you gotta get outta there. Look, the walls of the vault are made with a mineral called hecatolite. It shatters the moon light." She heard Stiles speak through the phone.
"What?"

As Stiles and Peter are on the phone with Scott, Carter let out a soft gasp. Her eyes began glowing their, what seemed to now be known as normal, violet color.
Jessica stood close to Allison Argent as they waited for their signal to go out. Jessica was shaking nervously with the knives Allison gave her held firmly in her hands.
"Allison. I don't think I can do it." She whispered to the Argent teen.
Allison could tell how scared she was and decided to put her own fears aside to help her. "Listen. With the training my dad and I gave you, you'll be fine. You're a quick learner, just aim a throw, okay?"
Grunting can be heard from outside the door. Jessica and Allison looked at each other, nodding slightly before opening the door and rushing out.
"Carter. Carter!"
Sucking in a breath, Carter jumped up from her spot on the couch, causing Stiles to jump backwards in the process.
"I have to go." She said, leaving no room for argument before she grabbed her jacket and phone.
With furrowed brows, Stiles followed after her.
"What? What do you mean you have to go?"
"It means she's leaving." Peter spoke up, trying to cover up the fact that he was worried for his nephew.
"I'm leaving." Carter confirmed the Hale man's words.
"No, you're not." Stiles scoffed, moving to stand in her way.
Carter paused before responding, "Yes, I am. Now move."
Peter's lips formed into a smirk. He knew the witch could protect herself, she didn't need an assist. And now that she knew her friend was in trouble, there was no telling her what to do. Watching Stiles try to tell her otherwise is what he found amusing.
"You're gonna get hurt. So you're staying here." He firmly told her.
"Fine." Once she said this, Stiles let his shoulders relax.
He honestly thought she'd put up a fight. When he moved to direct her back to the couch, she slipped past him and out of the loft yelling a quick 'Sorry, Stilinski!' before she was gone.
Stiles huffed out a breath, running his tongue along his teeth as he turned to Peter,
"Shut up."

By the time Carter had finally made her way to the bank where Jessica and Leilani were, she was out of breath. She gave props to her friend for being able to run as much as she does. It was times like this that she wished she had the stamina of a werewolf.
Walking up to the bank doors, she's almost instantly shoved on the floor by a fully turned Boyd and a girl she's never seen before.
The witch had yet to notice the cut on her arm from Boyd's claws. Before she could even attempt use her powers to stop the two, angered voices cut her off.
"Don't touch her!" The voice of Scott shouted.
"What were you thinking?" Derek yelled at Allison.
"Especially with bringing Jessica here? What the hell is wrong with you?" Leilani snapped at her.
None of them noticed Carter, still out of breath from running, walking forward to give her input.
"She saved our lives." Scott tried reasoning while getting an offended look from Jessica. She might've caused some issues but she still helped.
"What do you think they're gonna do, Scott?" Carter finally speaking up, her green eyes glaring at him.
"Have a cup of tea under the moonlight?" Leilani sarcastically said.
"Do you have any idea what we just set free?" Derek continued, adding on to the girl's response.
"You want to blame me?" Allison held a hand to her chest, "Well, I am not the one turning teenagers into killers."
"No." Leilani shook her head.
"No, that's just the rest of your family." Derek finished.
"Listen we've all made mistakes." Jessica tried to diffuse the tension.
"Stop defending her, Jessica." Leilani furrowed her brows at the brunette.
"Lani-" Jessica started, only to -once again- get cut off.
"Gerard is not my fault." Allison looked around at all the people who seem to be against her at the moment.
"And your mom?" Carter spoke up.
Derek told her and Leilani the story of how Victoria tried to kill Scott. Actually, he told her dad who then decided it was best to tell the girls, mainly because he couldn't keep a secret like that to himself.
"What do you mean?" Allison frowned in confusion, looking at her, only to get a raised eyebrow in return.
"Tell her, Scott." Derek urged him as he walked away with the two supernatural girls to go find Erica.
"What do the mean, Scott? What does he mean?" Allison continued to ask.
"God, I hate her." Leilani huffed, looking up at the ceiling with an annoyed face.
