janitors closet

Detention.
A word that Leilani Lewis wasn't necessarily familiar with.
Has she helped her friends get out of detention? Oh, yeah, plenty of times.
Has she been in detention before? Once, if you count that time she got herself involved in the fight between Jackson Whittmore and Scott McCall Sophomore year when Jackson just so happened to be a raging homicidal lizard.
Though if you asked her she wouldn't count it as they didn't stay in for the whole time.
So, technically speaking, this would be her first time in detention. And she was far from happy.
Mr. Harris leaned on against his desk, assigning tasks for the students, or delinquents as he called them, to do.
Now Leilani couldn't help but feel like an idiot for helping the Lahey boy that was sat in front of her. And what makes it worse? Isaac didn't t even have the decency to thank her for trying to get him out of trouble.
"Oh, Mr. Harris? Does it have to be with her?" Isaac whispered to the man as if he and Leilani didn't share the power of super hearing.
The man smiled sarcastically, "Now that I know you prefer not to...Yes. You have to be with her."
Isaac turned to look at the Lewis girl who blew out a sigh before gesturing for him to follow her to the Janitors closet.

"Whoa. Hey, Boyd! I didn't know you were back at school." Stiles stopped in front of the boy who only wanted to get his items from his locker.
"That's because he doesn't like you." Carter stated matter-of-factly only for Stiles to brush off her comment.
"Yeah, I would have told you, but we're not actually friends." Boyd agreed with the blonde who hummed in satisfaction.
"Oh, yeah. Hey, so did you, uh... so did you know Kyle?" Stiles asked, gesturing to the locker memorial set up for said boy.
"Yeah, we were in junior R.O.T.C. together." He exclaimed in a soft tone.
Not seeming to be bothered, Stiles continued his questions, "So you two were friends, then?"
"I only had one friend. She's dead too." Boyd said, walking away from the two, leaving them no time to respond.
It was quiet between them as they watched him go. Carter scoffed, "Way to go, jerk."
The Stilinski cleared his throat before quickly trailing behind her.

Leilani knew something was wrong the minute they stepped into the room. Isaac's erratic heartbeat and heavy breathing was only proving her point.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm just... not a big fan of small spaces." Isaac spoke between pants, his shoulders easing, "Can I ask you something?"
Leilani knew this was coming but she was hoping to avoid it. "I'd prefer if you didn't."
"Well I'm going to."
"Yeah i figured. What's your question?"
"There's something you're not telling us." Isaac said, reaching to grab the roll of tissue she couldn't reach, trapping her between his chest and the shelf for a second.
"That's not a question."
Isaac raised a brow, "I thought it was."
"It wasn't." She maneuvered around him, "Look, are you gonna help?"
He didn't answer he question, instead choosing to pretend he was actually doing something, "So i'll rephrase. Is there something you're not telling us?"
Leilani sighed, "No."
He gave her a look. One that she rolled her eyes at.
"I don't know. And even if I did, no one asked."
"Whether we asked or not it would've been a good idea to tell us something. We could help." He moved closer to her after every word.
Her heartbeat sped up, not because she was scared but more so nervous about the close proximity between the two.
"Your heart is beating really fast."
Leilani looked up, her brown eyes locking with his blue ones, slowly getting lost in the ocean like color.
Isaac continued to speak but she wasn't listening.
Lani was more focused on the beauty that lies in the eyes of the boy she's had a crush on since freshman year. Way before she even knew how to control her powers. She's snapped out of her thoughts when she hears the words,
"Does Leilani Lewis have a crush on me?" Her face immediately drops.
She forcefully chuckled, "Wha-? Me? Absolutely not."
Label her a liar.
Isaac smirked at the girl. He went to give a witty response only to freeze up at the sound of the door slamming shut.
Panic immediately set in.
He rushed to the door, slamming his jody against it in hopes to get it open.
"Hey, Isaac, let's calm down, yeah? Maybe it's just locked from the outside." Leilani tried to calm him down, failing miserably.
"No, there's something against it." Isaac muttered, not stopping his advances of pushing against the door.
Footsteps, along with a steady heartbeat, can be heard from the outside. Leilani could recognize that heartbeat anywhere. It's one of the things that helped her calm down when she nearly loses control, considering she didn't have a permanent anchor yet.
"Hey! Hey. Jess! Jessica!"
•••
"Hey! Hey, Jess! Jessica!"
The girl being called stopped in her tracks, took a quick look around and furrowed her brows.
She undoubtedly heard the voice of her friend calling for her but she couldn't pin point where it was coming from. She was thankful that everyone was either in class or at lunch so they couldn't see her looking around like a lunatic.
Turning the corner, she immediately spotted a vending machine leant up against the janitors closet. Rushing towards it, she hears muffled yells of 'help' and her name.
"Lani?"
"Jess!"
"What the hell are you doing in there?" The Stewart girl asked, looking for any sign that she could help.
"I- it doesn't even matter. Jess, I need you to go look for help, yeah? Isaac's in here with me and I need to calm him down but I need you to get help." Leilani instructed the girl.
"Okay! Okay, yeah. I got it." She nodded despite knowing they couldn't see her.
Her footsteps faded away from the small room as she ran on the direction of the cafeteria in hopes of finding either Scott or Carter.
•••
"You hear that? Jessica's going to get help. But I need you to at least try to relax." Leilani reassured him in a soft voice, turning around only to see his bright yellow eyes glowing at her, "Isaac?"
With heavy breaths he ran forward, pushing Leilani against the wall with his claws pressing into her wrists.
The girl knew for a fact that she could easily overpower him but she was also aware that it would only make him angrier.
Slowing breathing, she thought back to what her mother would do in this situation. How easily she would have made him cower with a growl of his name.
Her eyes opened, unknown to her, an orange color replacing the color that should have been matching Isaac's.
She could feel her body heating up, Isaac letting out a wince of pain as his tight grip on her forearms loosen.
As soon as he lets go the door is swung open and Isaac is pulled out by none other than Scott McCall.
"Lani?" The girl looked up from her healing arms to see Jessica and Scott walk up to her. The McCall reached forward, grabbing her arms making sure she healed okay.
"I'm fine."
Isaac looked at her from where he sat on the ground, "I'm sorry, I didn't... I didn't mean to do that."
"I'm okay." Leilani kneeled down by him to prove to him that she was perfectly fine.
"I'm so sorry." Isaac continues to apologize.
"It's wasn't his fault." Scott said.
"I know. I guess now we know they want to do more than get you angry. They want to get someone hurt."
"So are we gonna do something?" Isaac asked, glancing at Leilani.
"Yeah. I'm gonna get them angry. Really angry." Scott clenched his jaw.
"That was kind of corny." Jessica mumbled to Leilani who smiled in agreement.
