8am

"good morning baby, do you have any plans today?"

mingi was already wide awake when y/n woke up the next morning. he was sat up in bed scrolling through his phone but moved his body to face y/n when he saw she was stirring. he gently moved the hair out of her face while placing a small kiss on her forehead.

"yeah babe, I'm working today, remember?" she groggily replied.

"you don't usually work mondays..." he stated, his face puzzled.

"I know, it's just some overtime, hongjoong is on holiday with his boyfriend" she informed him.

at this, his face softened and he motioned for her to place her head on his chest so he could stroke her hair. "well we still have a few more minutes before you have to get ready, right?" he spoke. "I guess we do" she smiled as she closed her eyes again, head comfy on his toned chest.

"I love you so much" he spoke.

"I love you too, mingi"

10am

the cafe was still dark when y/n unlocked the front door. san was obviously late - again. thankfully no one was waiting to come in. just as she pushed the door open she heard footsteps running up from behind.

"I'm here, I'm here, don't worry! and please don't tell hongjoong" said an out-of-breath san.

"hongjoong isn't here. what he doesn't know won't hurt him" she smiled.

"thanks y/n, I'll go get the machines started"

y/n had worked at hongjoong's cafe 'utopia' for almost two years, since she'd moved in with mingi. san worked here long before but the two males realised they might need an extra hand. and that's where y/n came in. she loved her job. coffee and good company - what wasn't to like? her boss was basically one of her best friends and she adored san. mingi had been wary at first when he'd realised she'd be working with two young and very attractive men, but his mind had eased somewhat when he found out about seonghwa, hongjoong's boyfriend. she was still unsure how he felt about her working with san though.

"your hair looks nice today, by the way" san called from the back room as y/n finished taking all the chairs off the tables. she'd done it differently today and had hoped that mingi would have complimented her, but it seemed he hadn't noticed.

"thanks san, I thought I'd make an effort for once" she laughed dryly.

san appeared in the doorway. "no, no, it always looks nice, but you did something different today, right?"

y/n couldn't deny that choi san was a good looking guy. his perfectly chiselled features complimented his beautiful blonde hair and the dimples that appeared in his cheeks when he smiled - which was often. she couldn't help but blush when her co-worker complimented her.

"yeah, I did actually"

he smiled and returned to his work in the stock room. before she'd had chance to turn away, the bell rung on the door and in strolled someone y/n recognised as san's friend, wooyoung, who was also a regular at utopia.

"you're early today" she remarked as he walked up to the counter, running his hand through his pretty pearlescent hair.

"I know, it's my day off and I have something important to ask you guys"

"go for it, woo" san peeked his head round the door.

"are you guys busy friday night?"

"I don't think so" you answer, while san shakes his head.

"I'm having a party at my house, a couple's party, that's the theme anyway. you don't have to dress up but the idea is that if you don't come with someone, you'll find someone there. you know, like matchmaking. but you guys could come together anyway!"

"I think she'll probably come with mingi, woo" san quipped.

"oh yeah, damn I forgot. well you'll just have to find someone there, san"

"sure.." san replied, with all the enthusiasm in the world.

"so you'll come? make sure you ask hongjoong and whatever his boyfriend's name is too"

"his flight is on friday morning but I honestly don't think he'd want to miss a party" san chuckles.

"great! by the way, isn't anyone going to take my order?" wooyoung asks with a smirk.

"what can I get you?" y/n asks as she makes her way round to the back of the counter. "iced americano, babe"

"stop flirting with her woo" cautions san with a laugh. it was true that wooyoung flirted with anything that moved.

"there you go, the card machine is ready" y/n says passing him the cup. "and I guess I'll be seeing you friday" she adds.

"you better be!" he jokingly demands as he pays for his drink. "anyways, I'll catch you later, guys. thanks for the coffee, you always make it the best y/n"

"hey, get out of here!" san shouts, not bothering to come out to say goodbye to his flirtatious friend. the door swung open and closed and san and y/n were alone again.

"let's put the radio on" she suggested as she went to press the 'on' switch, filling the small cafe with music. seeing that there were currently no more customers, y/n plodded into the back to see if san had nearly finished up in there.

"I feel bad" she admits.

"why do you feel bad?" san replied with a frown.

"because you're gonna be going to that party alone" she said sadly.

"don't worry y/n, I don't mind. I'll hang around with woo"

"you can hang with me and mingi too, san. although, maybe it'll feel awkward... but you might find someone else to hang with anyway" she added with a wink.

"haha, I don't think so y/n. that's not really my vibe. I'd prefer to meet someone in an atmosphere that isn't alcohol-fuelled" he answers. "besides, I'll be spending the night trying to stop wooyoung from putting his hands on you"

"haha, don't worry - mingi will see to that" y/n replied. as the door bell rang announcing the arrival of a customer, san disappeared to serve them their coffee. when she was left alone, she felt a slight uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach at the last words she'd spoken. if any guy there on friday even looked at her, she knew mingi would do more than see to it.
