I'm woken up by my brother hitting me with a pillow and I glare at him angrily, snatching the pillow from him.
"You have exactly three seconds to explain why you just woke me up" I demand.
"Because it's morning and you should be awake" He grins smugly.
"Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know you wanted to die today" I sneer.
"Natty, you can't kill me" He laughs.
"It's too late, Scotty. I've already decided how" I retort.
I lunge at him but he slips out my grip and races out my room, laughing to himself as I curse loudly from my place on the floor. I drag myself off the floor and decide to start getting ready for the day.
After I smooth down my pale yellow top and pull on my chunky white trainers, I slip on my black leather jacket and turn up the bottoms of my blue mom jeans. I decide against straightening my hair and throw it up in a messy bun before applying a little make up. Before exiting my room, I throw my back pack over my shoulder and grab my phone.
As I enter the hall my eyes widen when I see Isaac come flying out of Scott's room. He hits the wall and a picture falls off it's hook as he lands on the ground with a thud. My mom rounds the corner to stand next to me in confusion.
"Hey! You two supernatural teenage boys. Don't test my entirely un-supernatural level of patience" She warns them before walking off.
"You good, Lahey?" I ask in amusement and he nods, flashing me a forced smile.
"Scott, let's go!" I holler.
He exits his room with his bag and pulls Isaac up before ushering me out the house. I hop on the back of my brother's bike and he drives me to school.
As we arrive, I jump off the bike and turn to Scott who is looking into his helmet in confusion. He shakes his head and looks back at his reflection.
"Are you okay, Scotty?" I ask in concern and his head snaps to me.
"Yeah, I'm good" He nods.
"Come on" I huff and he gets off his bike.
We walk through the campus and as we're walking, I notice my brother looking at his shadow. He stops fully making me stop, turning to him in worry.
"Scott?" I breathe out.
He suddenly starts running, as if he's trying to run away from his own shadow and I sprint after him. I watch as he runs right into Stiles, who grabs a hold of my brother before I reach them.
"You all right?" Stiles asks him and he nods "You don't look all right, Scott"
"He's not all right" I state.
"I'm okay" Scott lies.
"No, you're not" I retort.
"It's happening to you too" Stiles says in realisation "You're seeing things, aren't you?"
"How'd you know?" Scott asks.
"Because it's happening to all three of you" I hear Lydia declare and I turn my head to see her standing with Allison.
The boys share a look and I sigh in disbelief. We all head into the school as Lydia soaks in the fact that she's no longer the only one who sees things.
"Well, well, look who's no longer the crazy one" Lydia gloats.
"We're not crazy" Allison argues.
"Hallucinating? Sleep paralysis? Yeah, you guys are fine" Lydia scoffs.
"This smugness is not a good look on you, Lyds" I comment and she shoots me a playful glare.
"We did die and come back to life. That's gotta have some side effects, right?" Scott suggests.
The bell rings loudly and make a move to head to class but Stiles grabs my arm.
"We keep an eye on each other. Okay?" He says and we all nod "And, Lydia, stop enjoying this so much"
The Stilinski boy lets go of my arm and I turn to him as the others head to class.
"How are you feeling?" I ask curiously.
"I'm okay" He shrugs.
"You look tired. Did you get any sleep?" I ask as we walk to class.
"Not really" He answers and I frown.
"Is there anything I can do?" I wonder aloud.
"I don't think so" He tells me.
"If you think of anything, just give me a call. Okay?" I smile warmly at him and he nods.
"Thanks" He smiles weakly.
I shrug nonchalantly and ruffle his hair before entering the history classroom.
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Mr Yukimura. I'll be taking over for your previous history teacher" The new teacher introduces himself as I sit down "My family and I moved here three weeks ago. I'm sure, by now, you all know my daughter, Kira. Or you might not since she's never actually mentioned anyone from school. Or brought home a friend for that matter"
A groan from beside me, makes me jump and I turn to see the girl next to me hit her head off the desk.
"Either way...there she is" The man says as the girl looks up sheepishly.
As the man starts to drawl off about the history subject we're going to be learning this lesson, I turn to the girl and gently kick her foot, making her look at me in confusion.
"Hey, I'm Natalia" I smile in a friendly way.
"I'm Kira" She says, perking up happily "I mean, you already know that. Sorry, I'm not good with new people"
"I think we're gonna be good friends, Yukimura" I declare and she grins.
"I'd like that" She replies.
I spend most of history class talking to Kira about anything and everything we can think of to pass the time, and I find out that I quite enjoy the girl's company.
"Maybe we need a little more time to get back to normal" Scott says as we reach Stiles' locker.
"Yeah, try not to forget we hit the reset button on a supernatural beacon for supernatural creatures" Stiles retorts "I think there's a pretty good chance things are never going back to normal"
I watch silently as Stiles struggles to unlock his locker, looking at the numbers as if he can't read them. He mumbles under his breath and tugs at the lock, causing me to sigh. I reach out and grab his hand, making him look at me in surprise.
"Do you need help?" I ask him and he looks down at his shoes in defeat "Stiles, it's okay"
"Nothing's okay" He replies.
I look to my brother to see his eyes are burning a bright red and my own widen in shock.
"Scott!" I snap and he looks at me.
"Oh, dude, your eyes" Stiles comments.
"What about them?" Scott asks.
"What about them? They're starting to glow" Stiles retorts.
"You mean like right now?" Scott asks in disbelief.
"Yes, right now" Stiles huffs.
"Scott, stop" I warn him "Stop it"
"I can't" He breathes heavily "I can't control it"
"All right, just keep your head down. Look down, come on" Stiles ushers my brother away and I follow behind them, pushing them both into an empty classroom.
I lock the door behind me as Scott pulls off his jacket, his backpack coming off with it. He growls lowly, Stiles and I trying to help him.
"No, get back, get away from me" Scott demands.
"Scott, it's okay" Stiles assures him.
"I don't know what's going to happen. Get back!" He warns us, panting heavily as his claws grow from his fingers.
He digs his claws into his palms until blood pours down his arms and onto the floor. A groan of pain escapes my brother's lips and Stiles pulls me into his side as my eyes water.
Scott's eyes fade back to brown as his claws and fangs retract, and his knees hit the ground. Stiles and I crouch down in front of my brother who looks from his bloody palms to us.
"Pain makes you human" He states.
"Scott, this isn't just in our heads. This is real" Stiles explains "And it's starting to get bad for me too. I'm not just having nightmares. I'm having these dreams where I literally scream myself awake. And sometimes I'm not even sure if I'm ever actually waking up"
"What do you mean?" I ask in confusion.
"Do you know how you can tell if you're dreaming? You can't read in dreams. More and more, the last few days, I've been having trouble reading. It's like I can't see the words. I can't...put the letters in order" Stiles tells us.
"Like even now?" Scott asks.
Stiles gets up and looks at the words written on the chalkboard with a frown on his face. He looks around the posters on the walls before looking back at the board.
"I can't read a thing"
