I exit my bathroom and see a figure sitting on the bottom of my bed, making me jump a little.
"I missed you" Aiden says and I scoff, making him frown.
"What's wrong?" He asks, grabbing my waist and pulling me towards him.
"You can drop the act now. Ethan told me everything" I state bitterly, looking down at him.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Natalia" He frowns deeply.
"I know you're not interested in me, Aiden!" I snap, pushing his arms away from me "The only reason you even looked at me twice was because you knew I was important to Scott. I'm just leverage. The easy little sister"
"Natalia" Aiden sighs.
"No. Don't" I growl in anger.
"Look at me" He demands and I glare at the floor, refusing to look at him.
He stands up and grabs my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"I'm sorry, okay? I admit that at first I only spoke to you to get to Scott, but things are different now" Aiden tells me.
"How?" I ask, furrowing my brows in confusion.
"Because I like you. I really like you" He admits and I look at him in awe.
"Y-You like me?" I stutter in disbelief and he smirks, running his thumb over my bottom lip.
"Yeah, I do" He answers.
I press my lips to his and he makes a move to deepen the kiss but I step back with a smirk on my face. He frowns and I wink at him, making my way to the door.
"Where are you going?" He asks in confusion.
"I gotta watch over my mom" I answer and he nods.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" He says hopefully.
"Tomorrow" I confirm.
I exit the room and walk down the hall, entering my mom's room to see Scott and Isaac curled up on the floor sleeping. I crawl into my mom's bed next to her and she turns to me.
"Who were you talking to?" She asks curiously "I heard you yell"
"Aiden called me" I lie.
"Ooh, a boy" She wiggles her brows at me and I giggle, shaking my head.
"Yes, he's a boy" I reply.
"Tell me about him" She says.
"He's sweet, and caring, and really good looking, and he listens to me when I talk..." I drawl off.
"But?" My mom hums.
"But he can be kind of an asshole and Scott doesn't like him, actually, none of my friends like him" I explain.
"So, he's a bad boy?" She asks me teasingly and I roll my eyes with a smile.
"Something like that" I shrug.
"Sounds to me like you need to stop caring about what other people think, baby" She advises me.
"But what if they're right, Momma?" I mumble.
"Come here" My mom sighs, pulling me into her arms.
I lay my head on her shoulder and she kisses my temple, lightly stroking my hair.
"I don't think that's really the problem you have here, Natty, is it? You're not scared of what other people think, you never have been. There's something else stopping you from liking this Aiden boy" She explains and I nod "Tell me all about it"
"There's someone else" I whisper "Another boy"
"What is he like?" She asks.
"Different...really different. Like, the complete opposite of Aiden" I tell her.
"How do you feel about this mystery boy?" She questions me.
"I don't know. I feel scared" I answer.
"Scared?" She frowns.
"He's nothing like any boy I've ever liked before and he makes me feel things I've never felt before. I don't want to like him, I don't want to feel any of these feelings at all. I just want him to stop making me feel all fuzzy inside because it makes me angry. I don't like him, I can't like him" I rant to my mother.
"Why can't you like him?" She quizzes me in a confused tone.
"Because he's irritating, and nerdy, and he thinks he knows everything, and he is really goddamn cute...in a puppy dog kinda way" I whine in annoyance, making my mom laugh.
"I think somebody has feelings for mystery boy" She sings teasingly.
"No" I groan.
"It's not a bad thing to like someone different from your usual type" She assures me.
"I want Bucky Barnes, not Peter Parker" I tell her and she rolls her eyes.
"Peter is cute" She argues.
"But Bucky is hot" I retort.
"All I'm saying is that maybe you should give mystery boy a chance" She sighs.
"Maybe" I hum.
"Go to sleep" My mom tells me.
"Night, Momma" I whisper.
"Night, baby" She mumbles.
β¦ β¦ β¦
"Really, boys?" I hear my mom snap and I sleepily sit up, seeing Scott and Isaac still fast asleep.
"Boys!" Mom yells and they both immediately shoot up onto their feet.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asks them.
"Uh...We were watching over you" Isaac answers.
"That's definitely not creepy" I state sarcastically and he shoots me a playful glare, making me smile.
"We wanted to make sure you weren't the third sacrifice" Scott adds.
"But both of you were asleep" She states, furrowing her brows.
"You were on watch last" Scott says to Isaac.
"What are you talking about? You were on watch last" Isaac argues.
"No, you were on watch last" Scott retorts.
"I might've been on watch last" Isaac admits, making my mom and I giggle.
"My heroes" She says sarcastically "Wait, didn't you say that they were all doctors? I mean, I haven't had an M.D. recently attached to the end of my name, so I think I'm in the clear"
"Yeah, but it could just come under any kind of healer, Mom. And you were definitely a healer last night" Scott explains.
"Yeah, well, I'm not gonna be anyone's human sacrifice today. So, all of you, get your butts to school" She demands and I climb out of bed.
As I exit the room I feel a set of eyes on me and I turn to see Isaac staring at my ass. His eyes meet mine and he gulps in fear at getting caught. I smirk widely, shooting the boy a wink before heading to my room.
I slip on a white pleated skirt and a beige cropped button up shirt with chunky white trainers and faded black denim jacket. Then I apply a little make up before pinning back the front of my hair with a white clip on one side.
After spritzing myself with some perfume and grabbing my back pack, I head downstairs to see Stiles sat in his Jeep outside. I look around for Scott's bike but I can't see it, making me frown. I swing open the passenger seat door and Stiles jumps in fright, looking at me.
"Don't sneak up on me like that!" He huffs.
"I didn't even try to be sneaky. I literally walked in front of the windshield to get around to this side, dork" I reply, climbing into the seat and closing the door.
"I must have been daydreaming" He shrugs.
"Where's my brother and Isaac?" I ask as Stiles starts the drive towards the high school.
"They didn't want to be late so Scott asked me to pick you up" Stiles answers.
"I see" I sigh, looking out the window.
"So...How are you and Aiden?" Stiles awkwardly asks and I roll my eyes.
"We're fine. And I know that you guys aren't happy about it so spare me the 'he's the bad guy' speech" I answer.
"I wasn't gonna give you a speech" He replies.
"You weren't?" I ask in surprise.
"No. As long as you're happy, I don't care who it's with" He says nonchalantly and I slightly frown, turning back to look out the window.
We reach the school and as we jump out the Jeep, the bell loudly rings.
"Come on. We can make it if we run" Stiles rushes out, grabbing my hand.
Heat spreads throughout my body and I let him drag me through the school doors, towards our classroom. We reach the door and file into the class with the other students.
"You can let go now" I hear Stiles whisper in my ear, shivers going up my spine.
"Huh?" I frown.
He holds up his hand slightly and I see that I'm still squeezing his hand tightly.
"Shit, sorry" I mumble in realisation, shoving my hands into my pockets.
He shrugs it off and sits down next to Scott who gives me a weird look, as if he knows something that he shouldn't. I shoot him a small smile which he returns before sitting down in front of the boys.
"Good morning" Miss Blake greets us all, entering the classroom "As you all know, Mr Harris is still missing. I mean, sick. Anyway, I'm filling in while we all hope and pray for a more qualified substitute to take my place"
"Okay. So let's get started, shall we?" She adds.
