6. Main Character Moment

You gulped, hardly daring to look away as the animatronic looked you up and down, his claws barely about your shoulders. Although he wasn't holding you in place, you felt trapped under him, and it was not okay. Maybe even a little scary. Definitely making your heart beat a thousand times faster than usual.

Monty slid on of his hands down the wall and to your cheek, his nails grating painfully against the metal. Fuck, it made you blush, but you were not at all turned on by what was going on here. It wasn't just the fact that he was an animatronic that made it unattractive, but it was the out of no where-ness of it all. Why did he just suddenly pin you down for no fucking reason the moment he saw you? What was his problem? Was he seriously that horny?

His draping scarlet mohawk snaking down to your neck, forcing you to breath again.

"So you're Y/N..." Monty's voice was deep, almost a growl. You tightened your hands on your seat, sweat making it slick.

"Yes, I am," You bit back, "Could you get off of me now? You're supposed to play with the kids, not with adults." This interaction was... was not it. You glanced helplessly in Bonnie's direction, but he was blocked by Monty. So was every animatronic. Why weren't they doing anything? Was this how Monty acted all the time?

Monty chuckled and grinned, his fangs glinting in the light.
"Feisty!" He crooned, but even so he lifted his hand off of your cheek, "I like that. I'm sure you're going to fit right in~" As soon as Monty loosened his grip on the wall and leaned back, you flew into Bonnie's arms, trying desperately to calm yourself.

"What the fuck was that, Monty?" You sunk your face into Bonnie chest, letting the brisk cold of his metal cool your face. Your mind was still, very slowly, trying to contemplate what had just happened in those last few moments. You'd never guessed that your first 'main character' moment would be with an animatronic who was clearly looking for some things you were not about to give. But even through your racing mind, to your shock, regret still seemed to seep in.

It was the fact you'd never had a romantic relationship.

You didn't like to think about it, especially after an animatronic alligator had just done... whatever he did to you. But even so, this regret washed over your mind most days. Through high school and university and your entire life, no one had ever seen you romantically. Ever. No primary school crushes. No puppy love. Nothing. You'd always been that lonely funny friend. It had been made worse by the fact that you hadn't had the courage to ask anyone yourself. There had been so many people that you'd been interested in and just wasted your chance.

Of course, you had been in one relationship. But calling that a 'romantic' relationship would be like saying that it would be good idea if woman ate men after doing the dirty like many spiders did. A stupid, stupid thing.

"I was just kidding around," Monty said smoothly, "You know that, right Y/N?"

You gaped at him, "It didn't seem like kidding around to me! That was very uncalled for." Bonnie's arms tightened around you.

"Don't even begin with that crap, Monty!" Bonnie yelled, "Y/N is right - that was just- why?"

Monty shrugged, "Sorry - I was just saying hello..." You looked up at Bonnie, wrapping your fingers around his hands. He looked genuinely angry. You looked back at Monty. He was acting so casual, like he had done nothing wrong. What was up with that?

Groaning, Roxy stepping up to Monty's side and gave him a hard jab in her ribs, "That's not how you treat people, dibshit. Learn some manners - geez." She drained the rest of her energy drink, crushing the empty can between her claws (seeing that made you wonder how easily she could crush your head between those hands). And for the first time, she made eye contact with you, sending a silent apology.

"Monty, that's the second time you've done that!" Freddy said, standing up and making his way towards Monty.
So you weren't the first to experience this.
Though Freddy had a sweet disposition, right now he was frowning deeply and shadowed over Monty, and although Freddy wasn't all that intimidating Monty shrank down. "You can't be doing this." A peculiar look glazed over Monty's eyes, and he shut them tight and looked down at the ground.

"I-"

"No need." Freddy cut in, "Save it for Y/N."

Monty dragged his eyes back to you. His whole demeanor had changed - before he had been the challenging, confident flirt, but now he was a lot more toned down, his lips drawn in a tight line his hands twitching at his sides.

"I'm... I'm sorry..."

Snarling, Bonnie let go of you and took a menacing step towards Monty, "That's not good enough! You just violated them! You are awful!" You started - even though you hadn't known Bonnie for long, you could tell by the dead silence that dropped into the room that it wasn't often he raised his voice.

A pause. "Why are you all so calm about this!?!?" Bonnie's voice cracked painfully. Not a word was uttered by any of the other animatronics. The lights above flickered softly in the background,

Bonnie turned back towards you, absolute concern written over his face. "Let's get out of here."

"Bonnie, you don't have to-" you swallowed down the sudden thick feeling in your throat, "you don't have to do this." You're gaze darted to Monty. What he had done wasn't right - of course it wasn't. But you couldn't help but feel a flicker of guilt as you looked at him.

Bonnie clenched his jaw.
"Come on, Y/N."

And you couldn't say no as he held out his hand and you took it, the comfort of his gentle touch nice in your palm. Softly tugging on your arm, he lead you out of room, and you couldn't help but glance back at the animatronics behind you.

Chica gave you a weak smile and waved, mouthing a goodbye. Freddy waved, too. Roxy nodded. Monty looked away.

The second you were out of the backstage area, Bonnie began to talk.
"I'm so, so sorry Y/N," he sighed, "I don't know what's up with Monty. He's been acting... weird, lately. But that's no excuse."

You gazed up at Bonnie, his face washed in neon beams.
"It's- it's fine." You said, "that wasn't your fault. And you didn't have to come to my rescue like that. But even so, I appreciate it."

Bonnie exhaled, casting his eyes to yours. Again, the look of concern on his face struck you.
"It was my fault. I shouldn't have brought you there."

"I-" You squeezed Bonnie's hand. "I actually thought it was really nice that you brought me there. It was such a kind thing to do..." Now Bonnie looked away, his cheeks dusted a quiet shade of red.

"I'm glad you see it that way."

You and Bonnie continued to hold hands until you reached the Pizza Plex exit. It was dark outside now - but still, the peak of the summer evening could be seen just above the horizon, slinking away to let night take over. You looked down at your shoes - they had been white and clean and sharp when you first got them, but now it was yellowing and the laces were fraying and the leather was wearing out. The red and blue stripes that had once lined the sides were fading away.

"Tell me more about Monty."

Bonnie scratched the back of his head, "He's normally fine. Yes, a little destructive and, well, a flirt, but never to that extreme. When he first started acting strange, we got the mechanic to look at him, but he assured us that Monty was in perfect working order. But... the behavior hasn't changed. We're all worried about him. I should have realized that he was going to do that..."

You rocked back on your heels for a while, biting your cheek. Of course you believed that Monty wasn't a creep at heart, but even so, what he'd done... it didn't sit right. And it never would.

Pointing to the dented station wagon that lurked at the edge of the parking lot, you gently untangled your fingers from Bonnie's.

"That's my one. That old thing might outlive me some day." Bonnie's lips twitched upwards despite his grim expression.

"Good bye, Y/N. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Of course."

Pushing open the doors of the Pizza Plex, you strolled through the barren concrete block and clambered into your car, resting your hands on the steering wheel.
You could still feel the ghost of Monty's claws on your cheek, and you pinched yourself, blinking the image away. The other animatronics had been lovely - even if Roxy was quite the bad bitch. Bonnie was right - they were a hectic bunch, but they were a hectic bunch that you could see yourself growing to like. Even care about.

Tomorrow would be another painfully slow day of slinging ice creams. You shuddered to think of listening to another thick-accented southern mother asking for about a billion taste testers. But at least you would be with Bonnie - and hey, maybe you could even say hi to Olive. She said she hated your company but you knew she loved it.

You pressed lightly down on the pedals. You hadn't started the car. Your mind was a whirlwind of thoughts that was not at all dying down.

What was going on with Monty? Was it something to worry about? Bonnie would tell you if something was seriously wrong. Bonnie would protect you if something happened. You already trusted him with your whole heart.

Maybe that would be your downfall.

It had certainly been your downfall for your one and only relationship. You'd trusted them too much, and they'd hurt you.

You started up the car and drove away.

A/N I don't have time to read through this chapter right now, but if there are any mistakes I will fix them later! I hope you enjoy!
