4. Arcade

Adding some more Olive per request of my sib ;)

Driving to the Pizza Plex was a nightmare. The weekends in Summer were always busy, but on a particularly sunny day like this, every one and their grandmother were booking it down to the beach as fast as their cars could take them. And that meant you were stuck in traffic, millions of angry mothers smashing their car horns and the sun making you slowly die in your stuffy no-ventalation car. Not the best start to your day.

But it got just that little bit worse when you saw Olive giving Cindy, fucking, Lou a piggyback in the Pizza Plex car park.

"Y/N" Olive smiled deviously, "Candence here has said some very interesting things about you. Care to explain?"

You gulped, smiling sheepishly to hide the absolute pain you felt on the inside.
"How are you two related to each other, exactly?" You chocked out instead, drumming your fingers on your arm nervously. At least you knew the girl's real name now; calling her by an insult/nickname for all this time had gotten annoying.

"She's my daughter, dimwit." Olive's eyes danced with delight as she watched you squirm, gently setting Cin-Candence on the floor so she could run around.

"OHHH. Good to know. Great! Wonderful. Fantastic...?" Saying things that made sense was becoming more and more difficult under Olive's stare. Candence could have told her anything, including all the mean things that you'd said to her in the beginning.

Olive was quiet for a moment, her lip a thin line and her expression burning with the flames of hell itself. This was not good. Like, at all. This could be the end of your career. Or worse, your life.

"I will do anything!" You burst out, barely keeping yourself from flinging onto your knees and begging for mercy, "anything, I promise."

Olive was silent for another moment, deciding you fate. But suddenly, her lips twitched into a smile and she burst out into roaring laughing, the awful ragged sound ringing out through the car park. Your jaw dropped as you watched her wheeze, bracing her hands on her knees so she didn't topple over from the effort.

"What the fuck?!?" You mumbled, unsure of whether to call an ambulance or not.

It was a long while before Olive could string words together again, but when she could, she managed to say; "Y/N, I like you! Honestly, you're so easy to fool." Still wiping a few stray tears from her eyes, she crouched down and let Candence hop into her arms again, "This little bugger only had good things to say about you! I'm not angry at all - I'm pleased! And about that nickname - I call her 'Cindy Lou' as well."

You groaned, a hot blush spreading across your cheeks. This wicked, evil woman had tricked you again, but this time she had made a fool of you! You crossed your arms firmly across your chest, scoffing. "whatever! Your far too annoying to be around right now so I'm going to work." Hiding your face, you stormed into the Pizza Plex, flinging open the door dramatically as you went.

Finally, you reached Bonnie Bowl and slumped down into one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs. You sighed.
"Bonnie!" You called, "It's me, Y/N." You waited for a moment, excited to vent about how annoying adults could be. No reply. You stood up and glanced around curiously, but you couldn't see him anywhere in the bowling alley. Maybe there was a scheduled time Bonnie would be let out of his room?

You checked. He wasn't there. Went to the ice-cream parlor. Wasn't there. You sighed again, swinging your arms at your sides.

"You know what happened to me this morning, Bonnie?" You said, using your voice so that Bonnie could hear you, where ever he was, "I just had another confirmation that adults are the worst. You know Olive, the manager? Yeah. She tricked me into thinking that I was about to get fired all for her amusement. I was like a puppet in her evil little show! Like, seriously." There was still no reply.

Letting out a harsh exhale, you finally went to the arcade, you legs twinging painfully from all that haisty running around. You rounded a corner - and there was Bonnie.

"Y/N!" Bonnie squeaked, jumping in surprise. He had been hunched over one of the arcade machines... the very same one he had watched you play yesterday.

"What are you doing?~" You asked, smirking as Bonnie blushed.

He smiled sheepishly, trying and failing to be subtle as he smashed one of the buttons on the machine, clearing the screen, "uh- nothing! J-just testing the game. Looked like there was a bug with it when you played it yesterday. Yeah. And about Olive - that does sound annoying. Very. Maybe we should talk about that instead of what I was just doing" You grinned and quickly snaked between him and the game, making Bonnie mumble nervously as you booted it up.

"AHA!" You cried triumphantly, pointing at the screen,"what a liar! You've been playing for hours and you've beat the highscore-" You gasped in suprise. "You've been playing or hours and you've beat the highscore?!?! Bonnie!" You stared at him incredulously, and his face somehow deepened to an even darker shade of red.

"Uh..." he scratched the back of his head and coughed, "it took, um, a while to, uh... fix the bug. Ages. And, um, the highscore... that was the bug. One point turned into a hundred."

You rolled your eyes, not at all convinced.

"Whatever you say, Bonnie. But if by some chance your lying to me, then... good job. You're actually really good at this game."
Despite his valiant effort to keep his expression netural, Bonnie's smile widened.

...

"So your main job today is manning the ice cream parlor." You and Bonnie strolled through the bowling alley, setting up chairs and tables as you went, "boring, I get it, but if you really can't stand it you can always take some time off and do some bowling. I tend to do some just after a show to calm the adrenaline."

You froze up, gulping. "I'm good! With the ice cream. I'll just stay there the whole day and not take any breaks. It'll be fine."
Bonnie raised an eyebrow, obviously curious.

"Why's that, Y/N?"

You looked down at your feet, shame biting up your neck.
"Nothing! It's fine. All good." Bonnie pointedly looked away, letting you find something else to talk about.

"WOW!" You said a tiny bit too loudly, "It's good to have a little peace and quiet before all the little rats - um, I mean children - come streaming in. I'd forgotten how loud kids can actually get, but yesterday was more than a good reminder." Bonnie shrugged.

"You know, to be honest I really don't mind it all. I've gotten used to the noise and I actually prefer it." He spun in a circle, gesturing out to the absence of people, "it being only us two makes you feel so much more... well, it feels like it's only you. And I like feeling like I'm surrounded by others."

You nodded, pausing for a moment before you replied, "makes sense. But just like you've gotten used to a crowd I've gotten used to being... alone."

More alone that you liked to admitt.

Suddenly a shrill ringing sound echoed through the building - signaling that the Pizza Plex was open.

"See you around, Y/N." You waved Bonnie goodbye and he walked over to his stage, quietly humming to himself as he went.

And so you quickly made your way to the ice cream parlor and mentally prepared for the shreiks of delighted children that were coming your way.

...

You blinked the tiredness from your eyes, slooping a huge glob of strawberry ice-cream onto a waffle cone.
"That'll be five and a half bucks." You droned, holding our your hand for the cash. You were incredibly tempted to take a break and do some bowling even though you had explicitly told yourself that wasn't an option, but making ice cream after ice cream was so boring. And besides, would it really be that bad?

You sighed inwardly, deciding that embarrassing yourself any further wasn't on the agenda today.

But finally, when you thought you couldn't take it anymore, the crowds started thinning out and Bonnie called you over to help pack up.

"That. Was. The. Worst." You groaned, smacking your head with a paper plate.

"I could tell," Bonnie chuckled, carefully taking any other items you could bang your head on away from you, "every time I looked at you I was convinced that you'd turned into a dead clam."

You felt your lips twitch up into a smile.

"So... why did you not do bowling?" Bonnie gave you a quizzical look.

Sighing, you felt another blush of shame melt onto your neck, "Well... look, it's embarrassing, but I am terrible at bowling. And I'm not exaggerating. I..." You gulped, hardly believing you were saying this, "I might have put someone in hospital."

Bonnie's breath hitched, but he managed to smile weakly.
"Ignoring that last comment, I could always teach you."

You frowned.

"That's sweet, but maybe not?" Bonnie nodded, casting his gaze to the door.

"Hey, Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"How would you like to see my friends?"

A/N I know I said some stuff would happen but this chapter ended up being too long ๐Ÿ˜ญ
