sisters

Malia was Ryder's sister. And Peter was a cheating asshole. But that was beside the point.
You can imagine the look of shock and anger that coated the Miller's face once she realized that practically everyone knew aside from Malia and herself. Austin wasn't aware either, but Ryder chopped that up to the pack not wanting to risk him telling the girls.
She knew her boyfriend was a bit of a blabber mouth.
She didn't chase after Malia when she left, she wanted to allow her the time she needed to think over the news.
Ryder took a deep breath, brushing off Stiles' hand as he tried to reach out and apologize to her.
Was she upset? Yes, and rightfully so, though she felt like Malia had more of a reason to be mad as the girl was genuinely lied to by the people she trusted most. The people who taught her about 'friendship and trust' were the first people to lie to her face when given the chance.
Ryder was mad because they knew how she felt about being Peter's daughter. They knew she hated being the odd one out because she was biologically related to the man that started all of this. There was only one other person that she could have related to and they kept that away from her.
Ryder couldn't help the way her eyes filled with tears as she opened the door to her home. She could hear the sighs of relief come from Aaron and Ramona's mouths as she entered the living room.
"Thank God. Ryder—what's wrong?"
"Peter has another daughter."
Aaron's brows pulled in, "What?"
"It's Malia." She nodded, "She's my sister."
Ramona's face fell in realization, "Ryder, honey—"
"And they knew." She finished, "Scott, Stiles, Kira, Lydia, hell, even Allison. They all knew. And none of them thought to tell me."
Her parents kept quiet as she sat down on the couch, "Malia's crushed. I don't even think it clicked in her head that we're related. I think she's more upset that she's Peter Hale's daughter, which I don't blame her for. I tried looking for her, nowhere to be found."
"Ry—"
"I'm going to bed. It's been a long day, I almost died, I'm sure you guys know about that. I'm alive and well, I'm glad you two are okay." She huffed, "I love you both. Goodnight."
•••
If she hadn't heard her sporadic heartbeat from down the hall, Ryder would have been startled when she walked in her room and saw Malia sitting in her bed with a frown on her face.
"Hey."
"Hi. I would say to make yourself comfortable, but you've already done that."
The pair looked to Malia's discarded shoes that were by her window, "They made my feet hurt."
"Figures. Are you okay?"
"You're my sister."
The redhead nodded, "Yep. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more it's starting to make sense."
That got Malia to chuckle a bit, "Does that mean Josie's my sister too?"
"If you want her to be." Ryder shrugged, "I'm sure she wouldn't mind."
"I won't."
The supernaturals turned to look at the closed door, "Can I come in?"
"You're already eavesdropping."
"Not eavesdropping, I was just walking by and heard my name." Josie said as she walked into the room. "Honestly, I see this as a good thing."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah."
"What's good about being the daughters of a v-neck wearing psychopath?" Malia asked.
The younger of the three sat in between them, "Well...now I have two cooler older sisters and another sibling on the way. That's good for me. It's good for you guys because now you have something to relate on."
Malia and Ryder listened carefully as Josie spoke to them. For only being fifteen, Josie was ridiculously ahead of her time.
"I grew up with you, Ry. And I saw how hard it was for you to fit in, Malia. It might suck being the daughters of Peter Hale, yeah, but now you guys aren't left out of anything. Now you have something in common aside from your blunt attitudes and people problems."
"I know that was meant to be heartwarming but i'm kind of offended." Malia frowned.
"Moving on...I'm sure they kept it a secret for a reason. I, personally, would go around demanding answers for why I wasn't told I had a second sister or that I was the father of the most hated man in town, but you two would clearly rather hold a grudge than talk through your issues— i totally get it."
"Why wouldn't they tell us?" Malia asked, fiddling with her hands.
"They probably thought they were doing what's best." Ryder said, "I mean, I would have appreciated if I was told you were my sister, but I think they kept it a secret because of how you would react."
"How I would react?"
"Yeah. Maybe they thought that you'd end up like Peter once you found out he was your dad."
"You didn't end up like that." Malia pointed out.
"That's because I wasn't lied to."
"Technically, you were—"
Josie was cut off by Ryder, "Not really. Mom just didn't tell me that Peter was my sperm donor. And even if she did, I had her and dad there to stop me from turning into a murderer. I'm the last person to defend Stiles but I don't think he lied to you out of spite. I genuinely think he believes he was helping you."
The bedroom grew silent for a second before Josie stood up, wiping her hands on her jeans,
"On that note, I'll see you guys later."
"Where are you going?"
"To hang out with Liam."
Ryder narrowed her eyes, "They're going to the hospital tonight. They're trying to catch the asshole that wants us all dead."
"Well, yeah, but Liam's going to be there."
As Josie closed the door behind her, Malia looked at the girl next to her, "I want to know everything."
Ryder scoffed, "I know just as much as you do, sister."
Despite her words being a mockery, Malia couldn't help the swarm in her chest at the word, "I know that. I mean, I want to know what Peter knows."
"You want to break into his house?" Ryder chuckled.
"Something like that."
