Chapter Seven
I stared ahead with wide eyes at the large wooden doors that stood in front of me, hands trembling with fear as the realization of what I was doing was happening.
I sued my best friend. Someone that I continued to trust after what he had done so many years ago. That I continued to stay friends with and act like I was completely fine, despite me being horrified to stand near him all the time.
I was really doing this.
The yelling of news reporters behind me echoed in my ears, fingers twitching, ready to strike them down or send them away. I sucked in a sharp breath as Happy placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him nervously, and he could only bare me a gentle smile.
"You'll be okay. We'll be okay, Meg. Peter is waiting for you, he's going to be behind you. I made sure they let him in. I'll be right next to him. Trust me, you have a very good lawyer that was willing to help you." I only nodded, squeaking as the doors opened. The eyes were on me once again Alex let for my lawyers, who just stared ahead, arms moving oddly.
I frowned for a moment before straightening up, slowly starting to walk before pausing as I saw the back of Landon's head.
Maybe I can't do this. I thought to myself as I fought the urge to run away. I had done enough of that since Thanos. I was not going to give ups and run away again.
I walked forward, seeing the back of Peter's head. I could sense him shaking angrily as he stared into Landon's skull, eyes connecting to mine as I got closer, walking in slowly.
My hand met the only thing that kept me from being in the same section as Landon, who slowly turned to look at me, and smiled.
I fought back everything in me to flip him off, to scowl at him, to yell. Anything negative, I shoved down. I couldn't let my powers or my anger lash out today. Not now.
I turned to my lawyer, eyes widening when I saw the sunglasses across his eyes, his hands trailing over the braille.
Oh my god.. my lawyer is blind? I hope happy was right... he's kinda cuโ Jesus no. I shook my head and slowly walked over to sit next to my lawyer, who turned to me with a soft smile.
"It's nice to meet you, Megan. Truly an honor, if you could say that." He hummed softly and I nodded, smiling.
"It's nice to meet you Mr... uh?"
"Murdock. Matt Murdock." He outstretched his hand, and I shook it with a hesitant smile. "Don't be so tense. We'll do fine. You're the most famous person in the world right now. Though.. it may not be for positive reasons, I'm sure people will be on your side."
"You can tell I'm nervous?" I laughed softly, and Matt shrugged.
"Like Happy said. I'm a very good lawyer."

Maybe I was going to cry.
Maybe throw a tantrum? No, that's not professional. Be composed... ish.
Yeah I was kind of crying, but at least I wasn't faking a sob like Landon was.
I was actually crying from trying not to laugh at his poor attempts to win over the judge.
I sat at the podium like a statue, eyes staring into Landon's lawyer as he spoke. My brain could barely process the words he was saying, accusing me of things I had never done. Things I did do.
"I told Landon who I was. My real name. When we were younger and I was stupid enough to trust him." I said into the microphone, eyes flickering over to the camera pointed at me. Landon's lawyer frowned.
"'Stupid enough to trust him?' Could you elaborate?"
I groaned silently. "He revealed my identity to the world because he was jealous. He always said he'd kill to be me. Joked about trying to take my boyfriends that I've had over the years." My eyes landed on my old friend, who simply stared at me with a blank expression. "He went as far as to stab me in the gut." There were soft gasps around the courtroom.
"I'm sorry.. what?" The judge spoke, eyeing the two of us as I frowned, looking up at her.
"Wait.. you weren't aware of that? That's one of the reasons I had sued him!?" My voice elevated slightly as she put a hand up, and I slouched back down. "Iโ there's a chance I can't have children because of it."
"Miss Stark... do you have any proof of the incident?" Landon's lawyer asked as I frowned at him in pure disbelief.
"Proof? Is the scar along my stomach enough proof? Or how about the photos I took right after the incident happened? My lawyer has those pictures, if you want to see them. Or I can show you that scar!" I stood up and grabbed the bottom of my shirt, going to raise it when the judge slammed her gavle down, pointing at me.
"We won't be showing any part of your stomach today. Mr. Murdock, the photos?" Matt stood up, walking over to the judge and handed her up a photo, to which she quickly examined over. "I truly am shocked that I wasn't aware of this incident..."
"You don't have proof that it was me, Megan." Landon spoke up as the judge looked at him.
"These photos and accusations are well enough proof, Mr. Peterson." She spat, slowly looking down to me. "Miss Stark, I truly am sorry that this wasn't brought to my attention."
"Just one more question, if I may ask, your honor?" Landon's lawyer asked as she nodded. "If you say this happened so long ago, why didn't you say anything when it happened?"
I stared blankly at him for a moment. "I was scared."
"And why, we're you scared?"
"I hadn't had anything bad like that happen to me since Ultron attacked.ย I was scared if I tried to tell someone... he'd do something worse. If I tried to stop talking to him.. he'd expose the truth that I was... that I am .. Tony Stark's daughter." I cleared my throat as his lawyer nodded, my eyes once again connecting to Peter's, and he nodded softly, attempting to smile.
"No further questions, your honor." His voice had changed. I looked to Landon's lawyer as he sat down, glaring at the two as if to try and hear what he was saying to Landon.
And I could hear them. Clearer than the day.
"I don't have high hopes for you."
"Then you truly are a horrible lawyer."
