Chapter One

Her father laid against a fallen tree, his suit smoking and face destroyed by the snap, and he took his final breath. She fell next to him, weak as she held his face in her hands. He couldn't speak. She couldn't breathe. Her worst fear had come true.

The world around her came crashing down as she hell onto a hospital bed, heart pounding in her ears. She tried to scream for help as her limbs became changed to the bed, her movements slow but frantic. She knew it was a nightmare, but she couldn't control anything.

The fear alone made the monitor beep loudly in her ears, a doctor coming in as it flat lined. He put the covers over her face, letting it suffocate her as the sheet became tighter and tighter.

"Alert her mother. Time of death 20:19."

She gasped awake.

Her body shook from the tears she couldn't hold back, her black eye had healed. Her busted lip had healed to a very faint scar, the chip in her tooth was fixed. Her hair looked like it hadn't been washed in forever, and it was true. She only smelled good thanks to deodorant and perfume.

She hadn't touched her makeup, hadn't taken care of herself. The most amount of sleep she would get would be 12 hours a week. 14 if her nightmares didn't keep her awake. She was starving herself, the most she ate was a cup of ramen and strawberries.

Megan Stark was becoming pale. Like she herself was turning to a ghost.

It had been three weeks since the events of Endgame, one week since the last time she had talked to anyone outside of her family. Wanda had been missing for a day or two, Clint finally retired to live with his family. Rhodey was taking care of Steve two stories above where Megan sat. Her mother didn't leave her fathers room or lab.

Bucky and Sam left, Bruce stayed cooped up in the lab, healing from the snap he made. No one was around to help the girl who lost her father. Her best friend.

Megan sat on her bed, staring at the 3D model of her father, her tears slowly drying as she had cried for the 1,000th time this month. Her stomach cries with hunger, but she refused to listen to its pleas. She rolled back onto her pillow, staring ahead at her open closet.

The sunlight beamed onto her face, accentuating her hollowed face. The sun was bright, acting like the world was okay now that life had returned. Acting like Megan didn't just lose her entire family because of a titan.

Acting like her life was over.

"Megan, it is 6 AM. School starts in an hour, would you like me to start your shower?" Hax asked as the ghost sighed quietly, her voice weak as she spoke.

"No thanks, Hax. Please turn on the news." Megan ordered as the subtle noise of the tv echoed in her silent room.

"โ€”the world still mourns over the loss of Tony Stark, but the question still remains as who is daughter is. There is lack of evidence as to what she looks like or the name she goes by after a week of searching. Could she even exist?" The news anchor asked as Megan groaned quietly, rolling her eyes in annoyance.

"I should have never told Landon." Megan told herself, covering her face with the soft pillow. "This is all my fault." Her voice muffled through the pillow as the 3D model of Hax appeared and sat in the bed. She was only making the pain worse.

"Now you know it's not you're fault, Megan. No one could have predicted Landon would expose your secret." Hax reassured as Megan started to tear up again, removing the pillow from her face.

"I should have gotten away from him when he stabbed me." The girl uttered, Hax sighing.

"He would have gone after you." The A.I. stated.

"I could have turned him in." She continued.

"He would have exposed your secret." Hax continued as Megan glared at him.

"You are no help." She smacked him, only to have the hologram glitch before returning to normal.

"And you are going to be late for school." He smiled and Megan went back to wallowing into her pillow.

"I don't want to go." Megan complained.

"You haven't gone in three weeks. If you miss anymore people will start to ask questions." Hax pointed out as Megan showed half of her face, which was her glaring at her A.I. Friend again.

"Fine." She caved, hearing the shower turn on as Hax's hologram disappeared.

"Would you like to listen to some music, Megan?" Hax asked, Megan humming in thought.

"I guess so. Just not anything too happy." She frowned, removing her clothes and stepping into the warm water. Megan released a sigh and shut her eyes.

The ride to Midtown High was silent. Happy never uttered a word, not even a "Hello."

Megan walked through the halls, people carelessly bumping into her. They paid no attention to her sad face, too busy talking about "Tony Stark's daughter" and questioning who she could be.

A body slammed into hers, causing Megan to look up from the ground. Her eyes met Peter's. He looked as bad as she did. Messy hair, bags under his eyes and his skin was a sickly pale. He cracked a smile. It looked like the first smile he had shown anyone in a while.

Forcing back tears, Megan pulled Peter into a tight embrace. He hugged her back, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"I missed you." He muttered. Megan couldn't help but smile at the comment.

"I missed you, too." She replied, kissing his cheek softly.

People wouldn't shut up about the unknown Stark. Everyone was spreading rumors about who could be Tony's daughter.

Turning her head, Megan flinched when she saw her father laying in the ground, shutting her eyes tightly and then opened them again. He had disappeared. She sighed, rubbing her eyes to try and force herself to stay awake.

"Are you alright, Miss DaVoe?" Mr. Perkins asked as Megan's head snapped up, nodding. "Then please stay with the class."

"Sorry, Mr. Perkins." Megan apologized before she looked out the window. She wished to see her father flying through the air. Around now would be the time he would get out of his lab to take a break, flying through New York and over Midtown.

Megan noticed a few of her classmates looking out the window as well, as if they, too, were hoping to see Iron-Man fly past the window. Instead, all they got was a crow.

"Students, eyes on the board. I know you all miss seeing him fly past, but school is in session now." Mr. Perkins snapped as everyone sighed quietly. Megan didn't take her eyes off the window. "Miss DaVoe." Mr. Perkins called out, Megan not listening, too busy imagining her father flying around.

"Miss. DaVoe." Me. Perkins yelled, Megan finally getting her attention back to the real world. "Do you need to be moved?" He asked as Megan shook her head. "Then pay. Attention."

Megan nodded, her ears ringing slightly as the voices of a few of her classmates rang in her ears as well.

"Dude, what if she's Stark's daughter?"

"Not possible, man. She doesn't look like him."

"Because she's blonde?"

"Exactly."

"Dude she's as smart as Stark. People tell her that all the time. She's gotta be a Stark."

The two boys behind her continued on with it, Megan slowly growing nervous as the one boy tried to persuade his friend into thinking she was a Stark.

Megan found herself grabbing her bag, briskly walking out of the classroom. "Miss DaVoe!" Mr. Perkins bellowed, but she ignored him, finding her way to the janitors closet.

She dropped her bag and fell against the wall, her breathing becoming uneven as she began to panic again. It wasn't the fear of people finding out she was Tony's daughter that scared her.

It was what people would do once they found out.

The fear of people wanting to be her friend just because her father was rich and powerful. Or people going after her friends. That's what scared her.

The door opened, the light from outside pouring into the small dark room before behind washed away, only to come back again then die out when the door shut.

Megan could tell from the distinctive smell of rain and dirt that it was Peter. Her guess was right when he flipped on the light, crouching down next to her.

"How'd you know I'd be in here?" She asked as Peter shrugged.

"You usually come in here to be alone. That, and I saw you run past my class." Peter smiled weakly and Megan forced a chuckle.

"I found out I have enhanced hearing. I can hear everyone's voices." She muttered as Peter sighed while he sat down next to her.

"You'll learn to turn that on and off." He joked, allowing Megan to rest her head on his shoulder.

"I just want it off. I don't want these powers." Megan complained and outstretched her hands, showing Peter the white ball of energy dancing around her fingers. Peter wrapped his arm around her shoulder, rubbing circles with his thumb.

"I know but think if it like this: if you learn to control them, you can help me catch bad guys." Peter smiled.

"Even when you're sad you always find a way to try and make people feel better." Megan praised as Peter kissed the top of her head.

"It's what I do best." He joked.

"That, and saving people." Megan cracked a smile.

"Sorry to interrupt, but Landon is making his way down here." Hax said into Megan's ear as she got uo.

"He's wha- whoaaa." Megan wobbled as she became light headed, Peter holding her in his arms as he raised a brow.

"What's going on?" He asked, grabbing Megan's backpack.

"Landon is coming we need to go." Megan ushered Peter out of the janitors closet. He quickly ran out of sight, Megan going to follow after him before she felt a harsh hand on her shoulder. Megan visibly flinched, slowly turning around to see Landon.

"Megan I'm so happy to see you! I hope you're doing okay." He smiled as if he had forgotten all the horrible things he did to her and her family.

"Why are you here, Landon? Thought they kicked you out?" Megan said through gritted teeth and he laughed.

"They let me back in. Good thing too, now we can be friends again!" He cheered as Megan's mouth dropped.

"Are you forgetting what you did? All the pain you caused me?!" Megan asked as Landon laughed.

"Well obviously not. But that's what friends do! They stan you in the back but then you become friends again!"

"You stabbed me in the stomach!" She whisper-yelled and Landon laughed.

"See? We are going to look back in that day and laugh." He joked as Megan slapped him across the face.

"I probably can't have children because of you."

"Oh. Well that's a shame. I would have loved to see little Megan's running around." Landon smiled.

"You aren't going to go anywhere near me or my children when I have them. You're a vile human being." Megan spat, walking away as she clicked a button on her backpack, which sent a message to the station telling them that Landon was there.

After Megan had attacked Landon, she went to the police to have a search party out for him. They didn't find him, so they made her a button that would send a direct message to the chief of police that she found him.

And now that she did find Landon... he was going away for a very long time.

But that meant he also had to be tried in court. And Megan would have to go.

So there was more pressure.

And that's the end of the first chapter! 2014 words :)
I want to thank you all for the love and support I got from the first book! I was not expecting it to get such a sudden amount of views! I promise, I won't rush this book like I did the last second book (which literally had eight chapters)

The first part of this book will mainly be focused on Landon's trial/Megan's powers, then we will get to Prague, and Quentin and the Elementals and all of that so stick around :)
