There had been many words to describe prince Daemon Targaryen. A traitor was one of them. Daemon Targaryen was young. But she was younger. She had been a young maiden, she was innocent and kind, she was everything Daemon wasn't. The two were related. Cousins. Daella Stark had been a beauty in her youth, she had been healthy, healthy enough to marry her cousin Daemon and give him five children. But, Daemon was Daemon. The rouge prince. He fucked his way through the whole city and everyone knew it. Everyone gave the lady a pitied look. Daella was a Stark and a Targaryen, she shared the blood of the dragon with Daemon and the two were the same yet different. She was young when she had married him, only ten and five. Daemon was twenty and nine, nearly thirty and well, he was half her age.
Daemon had been proud, his first born child was a son. Prince Baelon was his father son through and through. Prince Duncan was the vivid imagine of his father but he had his mother's personality. Prince Brynden was his mother's son but with his grandfather's honor. He was like his brother Baelon yet more wilder. Prince Maegor was just like his namesake but with his mother he was a sweet boy as she liked to call him. Cregan was his mother's son in every aspect. From the looks to the personality.
Daella was a woman who gave her husband five sons. All looking like him except for Cregan who looked more Stark than Targaryen. It was no secret that the prince didn't truly love his wife, he had "some" respect for her but there was no love. Daella hadn't always known but she had come to realize that Daemon Targaryen did not love her and that that was her life now, the life of the dutiful wife of Daemon Targaryen.
Ser Harwin Strong had been her dutiful knight since her marriage to Daemon. He had always protected her and her sons, him and Ser Crisotn Cole had been the ones to teach her sons how to wield a sword as their own father barely even had the time to see them. He barely even spoke to the boys Daemon never stayed in King's Landing for long. He rather spend in the Free Cities or anywhere else. Young Daella spend her time with her ladies or with her two guards. King Viserys loved Daella, she had been like a daughter to him. Her sons, would call him grandfather. Daella was well aware of her husbands adventures. But, she was his wife, her duty was to stay by his side. Harwin never left her side and neither did Criston. Daella never said a word, not that she had anything to say.
The first time she started to "rebel" against her husband was when Rhaenyra had come home. There had been at feast for her return and the return of her family. Daemon barely even glanced at her children, she knew he would barely even glance at her but their children were sacred to her, he loved them but when his niece came around it was as if everything else didn't matter. The second time was when Lucerys nearly killed Aemond and injured Baelon for trying to protect Aemond. Daemon had stood beside Rhaenyra but he noticed that Harwin and Criston stood beside his wife.
After the incident of Driftmark where Laena had been buried in the tradition of her house, House Targaryen began to crack, even more than it already was. Everyone knew it. Daemon was sleeping with his niece, and rumor had it he had sired two sons from her and was expecting her third. But Daemon wasn't dumb, he played his part. He knew he couldn't killed her, he would have to go against the Northern men and against the other houses who had his wife's back. He would lay with her but he thought he was being careful until the lady came to be with child. First, it was another son, Prince Torrhen, he was Stark, or so everyone thought. If you looked close enough you could see Harwin Strong in the boy. Two years later it was a girl, Visenya she had named it, Visenya had her mother's everything but her father's eyes. A beautiful hazel green color like Criston's own eyes.
Finally, the girl she had always wished for. The king dotted on the little girl as if she was his own. Alicent Hightower did as well. Little Visenya and little Torrhen were a breath of fresh air for the family in the Red Keep. Her sons were happy to see the happiness return to their mother and did everything to keep their family safe. She gave Ser Harwin three children. Two daughters and one son. Torrhen his firstborn, then Alina and Aelora. She gave Criston two sons and one daughter. Visenya, Alexander and Ivar. Daella Targaryen had eleven children, nearly rivaling queen Alysanne Targaryen.
It was well known that Daella and her children gave life to King's Landing, her sons were known for being great warriors and kind princes. Her daughters were a delight to the realm. Daemon never bothered to meet "his" other children. Daella knew that Daemon knew. Deep down he knew about them not being his, but he could say nothing as he too had is own family with his niece. When Rhaenyra finally return home with Daemon, Daella's children had grown. They were six, four and two. The table was full, Daemon's children were there, the youngest were in their chambers already asleep. Daemon was sat next to his wife while Rhaenyra sat next to Laenor. Rhaena and Baela had been invited alongside Rhaenys to be part of the royal dinner that night.
The king gave his speech and thanked the family for coming together that night. Aemond and his cousins chatted but it seemed like the others were ignoring Rhaenyra and her family. Daella made conversation with Rhaenys as the two had once been friends before. The dinner was quite uncomfortable for many as Daemon's sons didn't even spare a glance to him. Jacaerys made a toast in honor of his uncles and cousins, stating that as children they were all friends. "Cheers" Baelon said to not make things more uncomfortable. Ser Harwin and Cole stood by the door and near Daella. Daemon would stare at them as they stared at her but she paid no mind as she was busy with Rhaenys.
The king stood up. "This is an important announcement that needs to be made now" everyone looked at the king. "By the end of the week, prince Daemon and Princess Daella will no longer be husband and wife as their annulment has been approved" he looked at Daella who smiled and her cupped at the king. Daemon looked between his soon to be ex wife and his brother. "Why was I not inform of this?" he asked clearly confused on the matter. "If you had been in court with your family as you should have been you would have known your wife had request it. And the council has agreed it's for the best" the king replied. Daemon stood quickly.
The room went quiet. The silence was loud and the awkwardness was there, like a looming shadow. He turned to his wife. He looked at for the first time in years. Despite the years she still looked young and beautiful. Even after birthing many children she remain a true Northern beauty. Her red fiery hair was still long, wavy, shiny and beautiful her green bluish eyes still shinning as bright as the sun and stars. "You asked for this?" Daemon asked as he gripped her hand tight. She tried to pull her hand away. "Daemon, you're hurting me" she told him but he tightened his gripper on her hand. "Daemon!" she yelled as the pain was becoming unbearable.
See Harwin and Criston had stepped him but they didn't reach her time as he dragged her away as quickly as he could. He took them to their room, closing the door before the knights could reach them. "Daemon let go!" she told him before he actually let her go. "Why would you do this?" he asked and she scoffed. Before, she would've never asked for that. "You left me, Daemon! You left me! For years I had to endure the looks and gossip of the people. How my husband had fucked his way through the entire city. I didn't care. You were a man after all. You're allowed to do as you please. You left and came as you wish while I was force to stay back and watch as you lived your life, free of duty" there was a pause.
She looked at him. "I loved you, once you know?" she asked. Daemon said nothing. "I considered myself lucky yo have been marry to a prince. To someone I knew. Or someone I thought I knew. I thought Daemon is my cousin, we're family he would never hurt me" she laughed. "Since the day we became one you hurt me. You forced yourself on me. You humiliated me, sleeping with every whore or noble lady you could get your hands on. I was never enough. Not for you. Your eyes were always on Rhaenyra. She was the Valyrian bride you've always wanted. I'm giving you what you've always wanted. So, I'm giving you the freedom you've always wished for" Daemon looked down.
She didn't cry or anything. She had grown, she was finally free of the fear she held. "I know you know about my younger children. There's no denying that. I also know you've made a life with Rhaenyra. I'm happy for you, truly. We can both be happy with the people that we truly love. Even if you don't wish it it's done. I'm gonna be happy without you like I've been for the past few years. Goodbye Daemon" she kissed him one last time before she walked away from him. She opened the door where her two guards were alongside her children.
As said, their marriage was annulled and she married, she married Harwin Strong and Criston Cole. Daemon didn't marry Rhaenyra. He seemed to be missing his lady wife who had left to Harrenhal with her husband. The realm saw it as something odd to see her married to two different men but somehow she made it work and as time passed it seemed like the most normal thing ever. Baelon was named prince of Dragonstone, King Viserys gave it to them as a sign of peace for the damage Daemon had done. Duncan had been named Warden of the North. When Rhaenyra finally became queen the realm erupted into chaos when the war broke up.
Daella stayed away from the war. Both the blacks and greens fell during battle. All of Rhaenyra's children died, leaving only the youngest ones alive. And from the greens only Aegon's children lived thanks to Daella taking them with her when she left the city. It was a favor she did to her cousin Helaena. The realm choose Baelon as the new king. Duncan was made prince of Dragonstone. Brynden and Maegor became men of the King's Guard swearing to protect their brother and their family. Cregan took his role as the protector of Winterfell. Torrhen Strong became the lord of Harrenhal. House Stark Targaryen ruled for Centuries.
Daella Targaryen's life began with pain but in the end she ended up living a better life than those who tried to hurt her. Daemon died fighting Aemond but she knew he would be proud of what his family had become. His blood went down as history. Many said Daemon made sure Rhaenyra's line disappeared so his own could sit on the throne. It was never confirmed but a letter written to Daella that only she saw might have indicted the theory to be true. But, now, years later no one knows if he truly sabotage his own blood to make his son king. But, Bealon was his blood, his son, his heir. Perhaps it's true perhaps not but the she wolf made history as the mothers of kings, queens and warriors.
She truly lived a fairytale story after Daemon finally set her free. She lived, she loved and she won. Ser Harwin, Daella Stark and Ser Criston made their love known and it was said there has never been another love story as good as theirs. Perhaps there never will be another love story like theirs.
