When princess Visenya was born, her mother was happy. Ser Laenor regardless of what she looked like loved his daughter with all his heart. Rhaenyra as said before was happy with her only daughter, that was until her sons weren't resembling her or her husband. She was named the Pearl of Driftmark while her sons were called bastard. Visenya looked more like her father and mother while her brothers looked more like Ser Harwin Strong.
The young princess was just like her namesake. A sword was always in her hand, from the moment she was able to hold one and to even on her days of a wife. For her father, it was nice that she wanted to learn. Laenor, loved his only daughter, Visenya was the only true Velaryon in her mother's family. The heir to the Iron Throne and Driftmark by law. They both loved to ride their dragons and sit by the beach reading, training or talking.
When she came of age of marriage, it was said she was to marry Cregan Stark. Her mother thought it was a good idea and a good way to create a better alliance to the North. Visenya didn't know when or how she ended up with her uncle, Aegon who was only older than her by three years. Visenya could not stand her uncle, Aegon. It was an enmity that no one could explain. Visenya loved Aemond though, she loved to spend time with him, she liked to train with him. When the accident in Driftmark happen the queen wanted revenge. Her son had lost an eye and Visenya's siblings were the culprits.
King Viserys proposed a marriage between Aegon and Visenya to perhaps one day fix the hatred and division of the family. Rhaenyra was quickly to agree while the queen disagreed as she had planned to marry Helaena to Aegon. Visenya felt betrayed as her father disagreed with the marriage but her mother was more than willing to sell her off to her uncle. She was twelve, the wedding happen a few weeks after she returned to the Red Keep. The whole realm had attended the wedding and the dislike and unhappiness was very noticeable on the princess Valyrian features.ย ย
After the wedding, Visenya wrote to her mother and father, only her father replied until one day he didn't. Ser Leanor was the only who knew she was with child, he was the only one aside from her grandmother Rhaenys that was there when she gave birth to her first born children. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. Twins. A girl and a boy. Two years later Laena and Laenor were born to the couple. Despite their dislike for each other, Visenya and Aegon were there for their children as they grew up. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were six, Laena and Maelor were four. Aemma and Aemon were only six moons.
When Rhaenyra and her family returned to court everything had changed, and not only the place but her daughter. Visneya knew her mother had something to do with her father's death who was not so dead. Laenor's love for his daughter was way deeper than the love he had for his lover. So, every chance she got, she would sneak her father into her private chamber where it was well known the only private time she had with her children. She knew her mother had married Daemon days after her father's and aunts death, she did not forgive her for that. The petition began and the princess was not there. She showed a bit after her grandfather had reinstalled Lucerys as heir.
"That! Is no true Velaryon!" Vaemond yelled before turning to his niece who looked a bit more Velaryon now, almost resembling her aunt Laena. "But she, my dear niece, my Visenya is. If not me, then she must be the next lady of Driftmark" Visenya said nothing she simply smiled at her uncle. She began to speak in Valyrian then a language that only she and him understood, it was something she had learned with her father, uncle and grandfather from her many travels to Essos. "My niece has informed me she wants peace. So, as per her request peace we should have. I take my claim back. This... boy may remain my brother's heir" the king looked at his grand daughter who smiled at this, the old king smiled too. She was the only close thing he had to Aemma.
Rhaenyra was in her chambers, her pregnant belly showing as the baby was only a couple of moons away. Daemon stood beside her, before the couple decided to roam the gardens. Her father was ill but still strong enough to be out and about. He sat by the Gardens, Jaehaerys and his sister ran around him, Laena and Maelor following right behind, as his grand daughter read to him. The king was smiling at the sight, he was content. Aegon, who, at first hated to spend time with his father enjoyed to listen to his wife read. He carried Aemon while his father carried Aemma who loved to be in his arms.
The king seemed happy. The future queen approached her daughter. "Visenya" she heard her mother say. "Lady mother" she replied before closing her book. "I thought perhaps we can share a walk" the princess said. "I'm afraid I cannot. I'm spending some time with my grandsire. The children love to sit and spend time with him" she replied. Rhaenyra nodded. "But, perhaps you can join us" her daughters asked, giving her some hope. Aegon moved to sit next to his wife while Rhaenyra and Daemon sat in the small couch he was sitting. Aegon rested his head on Visenya's shoulder while she opened her book and continued to read, the children then approached Daemon and Rhaenyra.
By then, Visenya had escorted the king to his chambers. "That's Jaehaerys and Jaehaera his twin" Aegon said. "They were born a nearly a year after we married" he said. He pointing at the other children who were happily looking at plants and animals. "That over there is Laena and her twin Laenor. He was named after her father Laenor and her aunt Laena" he said. "And these two are our youngest, Aemma and Aemon" he said. Rhaenyra took Aemma while Daemon took Aemon. Her daughter had three little pairs of children. Three boys and three girls. "You've missed out on a lot. Visenya and I don't really like each other but we are there for our children. Always" he said before he stood and walked away.
Rhaenyra never gave it much thought, she thought it was normal, once a daughter reached a certain age, she was sent off to marry a good Lord to make her family proud. Visenya did that. She married her uncle, prince Aegon. She bore him six children, she continued their family line. Visenya sat in her chamber when Aegon walked in. "Your mother wishes to dine with you" he said. She said nothing as she changed. "I do not wish to" she replied. "Visenya" he began but she cut him off before he could even utter another word. "She abandoned me, Aegon. She sold me off!" the princess took a long and deep breath. "Now, she wishes for us to dine together after she cut me off for nearly seven years? She has clearly lost her mind in that time" she told him.
Aegon and his wife had no perfect marriage, they barely even had a good one but the two had alway been there for each other. "Vis" he began. "I understand that your relationship with your mother is not the best one. Trust me, I feel the same with my own mother. But, your mother will not live forever. I know she hurt you when she married you to me and not only that, she abandoned you, leaving you utterly alone but she loves you. You are her only daughter" she smiled at him. "I know our marriage was not perfect when it began" she said. "And it is not perfect now but you are good man, Aegon. Do not sell yourself short for me" she told him with a smile. Over the years, their relationship bloomed into a beautiful friendship that the two appreciate.
"We may have our differences but please, just try and give her a chance?" she smiled and nodded. "Fine. Just for you" she said. He smirked. "So, you like me then?" he asked with a smile then. One of the rare smiles that he rarely shared only with her. "Come, let's go to bed and we'll think about the dinner on the morrow" he nodded before getting into bed. Aegon watched her as he slept. He was so in love with her. He didn't know when or how he fell for her, all he knew was that he did. The morning came, when Alicent came to see her son, she saw an image that warmed her heart. In bed, was her eldest son, his wife and their children. It seemed the storm for the night before woke the young children, which lead them to find their parents for comfort.
Queen Alicent saw her mistakes, Visenya was not her mother. She was such a kind soul. Despite how Aegon treated her at first she learned to forgive and forget. Her son was a whole new man. One of family and religion. Her good daughter loved to pray, when her father "died" Visenya spent countless hours praying for her father. The queen felt bad for her as Rhaenyra wasn't even the one to share the news, it was a letter from her grandmother Rhaenys who came to see her a few days later. The young girl took her dragons, husband and children to Driftmark for awhile to mourn her father and give him a proprer Velaryon funeral. Visenya was invited to council meetings where she took her husband as one day they would rule together hand in hand. Visenya was Aegon's passage to be king and she did not mind waiting. She knew Aegon would never rule alone, even if they gave him the crown on a silver platter so, with Visenya was a better way. The queen choose to let the family sleep, they could break their fast in their chambers when they woke.
The queen arrived to the table, a smile on her face. "Where is my granddaughter and son?" the king asked. "They are resting. I'm guessing the children got scare due to the storm so they went to their parents room. They were all fast asleep when I arrived" she replied with a smile. It was a rare smile that graced her lips, she used to rarely smile when it came to her eldest son. "It seems my step daughter loves her... drunken husband" the prince said making the table go quiet. "Daemon" his brother warned and prince simply smiled. "I want to informed you that Jaehaera and Jaehaerys name day will be coming soon, so a feast in their honor is being planned. Lord Corlys and my dear cousin Rhaenys will arrive later on. If you wish to stay for the celebration you are more than welcome" the king said as everyone began eat.
As said, Aegon and his wife broke their fast with their children. Visenya was taken away by the queen and her grandmother to finish the planning. Aegon stayed with his children, his two brothers and sister soon joined. Helaena was to marry Cassian Tyrell of the Reach, a match made by her good sister. Jacaerys, his brothers and his sisters watched the Targaryen princess. For as long as they could remember the four could barely even be in the same room but it appeared it was different now. They were a close family. The four eldest of her children rushed to their mother when they spotted her. Lord Corlys, his wife and his brother approached them as they wanted to spend time with the children.
Jacaerys saw how happy sister was, she didn't need him. Not anymore. She was happy and free. She sat next to Aegon who held and then kissed her hand. The children played with their uncle Vaemond while Rhaenys and Corlys held Aemon and Aemma. Lucerys approached his sister, Visenya loved her brothers, regardless of what had happened she loved them with all her heart. "Luke!" she said excitedly. "Sister!" she rushed to hugged him. "Little brother. Look at yourself, a man grown" she said. "You are taller than me now" she said before pulling him for a hug. "Come join us. Where is Jacaerys and Joffrey?" she asked. He looked in the direction they were in. "I'll go get him" he said before rushing. "Sister" was the first Jace said before he was abruptly pulled into a tight hug by his sister. "I've missed you all so much" she didn't know Baela nor Rhaena as much as her brothers.
"We all have missed you, sister" she smiled at him before going to little Joffrey. "Look at you" she said happily. "I know you probably don't even know who I am but, I have missed you, little dragon" he smiled. "Enya!" he said happy which confused her. "We spoke of you often. We told him all we know of you so that he wouldn't forget you. So we didn't forget you" Jacaerys said. She pulled her three brothers into a hug. Contrary to people's belief Visenya loved her brothers and her mother, even after what happened she loved them all. She would die for them, she would kill for them. Always. The afternoon was well spent between the Velaryon and Targaryen children. For the first time in years, the aunt, uncles and nephews spent time together willingly. Rhaenyra and Alicent watched from the council room. The smiles, laughs and giggles were there.
"Do you remember when were young?" Rhaenyra asked. Alicent was of course caught off guard by her question. "I do" she replied. "We were the best of friends" Rhaenyra said. "I never hated you because you married my father. I knew that as the king it was his duty. I was angry because you kept it from me. A terrible secret. And perhaps your lord father forced you to but you had a choice to tell me. We could have confronted that together" there was a silence. "I love my daughter. I know it may not seemed like it but I did. When Leanor died, I felt extremely guilty and instead of being by my daughter's side I choose to run away with shame because I married the man I had always wanted" Rhaenyra looked at Alicent. "But truth be told, all I ever wanted was you. All I wanted was for you to love me as much as I love you" was all Rhaenyra said before she began to walk away. Alicent grabbed her arm and pulled her back, pulling her in for a kiss. "All I ever wanted was you too" she said with a smile. Rhaenyra smiled as well, kissing her old friend once again. "I love you" she whispered. "And I love you" Alicent replied, kissing each other once more.
Visenya who could see them smiled. Finally, her mother and good mother got their confession, they let each other know what they felt. She was content. Nothing could ever break her family once again. She swore that to the old gods and the new. She would kill those who dared to come against her and them. She was happy and no one would take that away. She was sure.
