ELEVEN - be a true spy
Robyn silently watched as the Quagmires walked to the athletics field. Her job was to be a spy, which fit her perfectly. She would check if Count Olaf was catching on to their plan and devise a plan to alert them. She was also in charge of trying to find the book, since her mom said it would be delivered eventually. She fidgeted with a bobby pin as she impatiently waited for action.
Meanwhile, Marigold sat in the orphan shack with Violet, Sunny and Klaus. She hated the mold dripping down and the crabs threatening to pinch them if the lights weren't on. She had almost barfed twice already. It had only been 20 minutes,
"What did Mr. Remora have for dessert last Tuesday?" Klaus asked his older sister as Marigold gave Sunny tips.
"A pudding," Violet replied.
"What kind of pudding?" Marigold called out.
"I don't know. Butterscotch?"
Marigold made a 'womp' sound. "Nope, rice." Violet groaned.
"Rice pudding, rice pudding. I have to remember that!" Marigold shrugged and helped Sunny with the staple remover. Sunny babbled something, which only confused Marigold even more.
Back at the athletics field, Robyn spotted a figure holding a massive book. Robyn stood up from behind the bench and grinned. It was Kit Snicket.
"Hi Robyn," Kit whispered, quietly running to give her a hug. They embraced, the book separating them by a few inches. "Here's the book. Try to get it to the Baudelaires. I know you're in a sticky situation right now. Now, I have a few minutes. Tell me about life."
"Well, remember the Quagmires? The brother, Duncan, is really nice. And handsome. Well, Isadora is nice as well but-"
"I get your point, sweetheart," Kit said, quietly chuckling at her daughter. "So, you like him?"
"Well, I guess." Robyn's smile widened. "Also, mom, when will I be able to tell them? And when will I leave?"
"It's complicated. You never know if they are truly good or bad. I assume they are good, but wait until our next call. And about leaving, soon honey. Very soon." She hugged her daughter and kissed her forehead. She also handed her a walkie talkie and a change of clothes.
"These will be very helpful," Robyn whispered.
"I gotta go. I can't be caught. See you soon, sweetie," Kit murmured. She ran away from where she was standing with her daughter. Robyn was alone, once again. It wasn't for long before she spotted Duncan and Isadora running up to her. Robyn quickly opened the library door and let the two in first. She lastly dashed in, the book and her bag in her hand. They hid behind a bookshelf as Robyn showed them the book.
"You got it!" Duncan exclaimed. Isadora and Robyn shushed him.
"But how?" Isadora wondered.
"That's not important right now. We have to figure out what's in here and obtain as much information as possible," Robyn murmured. At that moment, the three heard a door creak open. The room flickered with lights as the man, seemingly Count Olaf, squealed in shock. Then, quiet murmuring. The three heard footsteps and tearing of paper. The footsteps slowly got closer as the three children huddled together. Count Olaf looked through the bookcase and peered down. Thankfully, he was interrupted by a helper. The treacherous man turned around and walked out of the library. A few seconds after the door closed, the three children peeked up.
"We have to warn them," Duncan whispered.
"We can't go anywhere with him guarding the door," Isadora replied.
"I know the Baudelaires can still pass that test, they'll be fine. But we need to read this book," Robyn pointed out, referencing the book. The brunette opened the book and stared at the first page. A huge picture of a spyglass was on the following page. Isadora pulled out the two halves she possessed and connected them. She adjusted the digits to match them in the picture. After, the spyglass lit up. The three children looked at each other, impressed.
"Looks like we've got some studying to do of our own."

"What color were the cows on the dairy farm?" Klaus asked Violet. Marigold was in between them, watching Sunny to make sure she was still on task. It took a moment for Violet to answer Klaus's question, so Marigold tapped her on the shoulder and she flinched.
"Brown and..." Violet struggled to think of the second color. Marigold looked at Sunny and saw that she was as tired as her siblings.
"How long was the navy blue scarf?" Violet tested, trying not to fall asleep. No response. Violet and Marigold turned to him. "Klaus?" Marigold shrugged and took her notes.
"What bathroom stall was occupied last Wednesday?" Marigold questioned.
"The second one." Marigold grinned.
"Great! What did Mr. Remora add in his coffee?"
"Trick question, it was just black coffee," Violet responded, leaning her head on Marigold's shoulder and slowly falling asleep.
"How much..." Marigold huffed at the three exhausted children, staying in her position to not wake up Violet.
At the same time, Robyn, Isadora and Duncan kept searching through the book. They saw a man that they all collectively knew. They also saw an acronym that stumped the three.
"V.F.D?" Duncan read aloud.
"What do you think it could mean?" Isadora asked. They flipped to another page and saw a bowl of sugar.
"What's so important about a sugar bowl?" Robyn whispered. The three turned to their right and saw a towering figure. They shrieked, not a single student hearing their pain.
