A Man's Dignity

Dignity.

The state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect.

That is what it means.  Dignity.  Being shown as strong and unrivaled is a great quality in a person.  Especially if you are of a high status.  People complain that the world is too cruel to them, but some are just unaware that they can be just as cruel to each other too.  Over the many years, beings like us grew accustomed to the cruelty of others as they do the same to them.  Some people are just meant to stay at the bottom of society, while some are made for the top.

But that is not exactly the case of the White Tyrant of Luinor.

He is indeed born royalty, but the status he upholds up till this day was not handed to him on a silver platter.  He may have been born as the true heir to his planet, but the respect of others around him was earned with his own sweat and blood.  He learned at a young age that only the strong in the world can survive the pain and sorrow the world holds.  He learned that he had to be strong and rise up above others as to be able to live.  He became one of the strongest known beings to ever walk the lands, but that is no rumor.  He worked to the bone to be where he is today.  Strong.  Worthy.  Honored.  Respected.  But, at a price...

Lui Shirosagijo was most probably the epitome of the word 'dignity'.  Countless lives look up to his 'strong, perfect, and dismissive' demeanor, but even the strongest warrior has a limit to what he can take.  And that was the price he payed.  He was once a boy with a soul filled to the brim with hope.  Winning the hearts of many people, including some girls (and perhaps a few guys as well) is one of the many things he was known for.  But that changed quickly after one 'little family spat'  After he began earning the respect of the citizens of Luinor, he meant to keep his title.  His parents supported him of course, but that soon turned into pushing and breaking him.  After a certain incident with his parents, the once-cheery demeanor of the prince turned into an aloof and spiteful personality.  Almost as if it was a completely different person.

                                                                                        *~_~_~*

It was just like any other day.  The calm sky of Luinor shone with a bright azure hue without a cloud in sight.  The sun may have been shining brightly, but the weather was cold as autumn.  Even with the unnaturally chilly climate, the citizens of the planet wore no jacket nor sweater to keep them warm.  Most likely because they don't feel cold.  The palace shone with it's gray stones covered all over with frost like vines up an old ruin.  There were servants, maids, soldiers, and many more types of people bustling all over the royal grounds, but not one single person shouting there.  It was not that they were all in a bad mood, but rather that they were quite know for being almost as aloof as their prince.  Almost.

Prince Lui was swinging his sword mercilessly at the other soldiers in front of him.  He made his way through the cluster of solders in the training grounds as he aimed for the win.  He slashed and brought down each and every soldier there one by one until he was the only one left standing.  All the other ones were left on the ground, some injured or at least unconscious.  As Lui brought down the last soldier, his amethyst-colored hues scanned the courtyard for any remaining soldiers.  After finding none and scoffing, he walked to the bench and guzzled down a bottle of water.  Despite the cold weather that day, sweat glistened all over his body and trickled down his neck, showing how much he had trained that day.  He grabbed his bag, picked up his bottle, threw his towel over his shoulders and walked out of the training grounds and into the castle.  He went to his bedroom which shone with the blue and purple furniture.  He walked to his bathroom and took a cold shower to soothe the throbbing of his sore muscles.  Not that he showed any sign of pain at all.  Hid body relaxed under the cold water of the shower and closed his eyes to enjoy this small piece of intimacy after a good day of training.  He stepped out of the shower, and began to get dressed.

It was a regular day, so he just threw on his usual robes.  It was a white sleeveless shirt with the same kind of pants which fits snug on his firm muscled body; a dark-blue tail-coat with royal-purple embroidery; black boots with laces; a purple band around his left bicep; and a silver crown with sapphires and amethysts.  He walked out of his room and walked around the halls looking for a certain someone.  He suddenly bumped into a young girl.  She had the same baby-blue hair as the Whit Tyrant and purple hues of the same kind.  She was wearing a lavender-colored dress which reached the ground and a silver tiara with small specks of purple and blue.  "Oh Fuyuka, do you know where Dante is?" the male said.  The girl, now known as Fuyuka, shook her head.

"Nope, but I last saw him in the market buying pastries." She replied with a sweet smile.  Lui just rolled his eyes at his little sister with her playing innocent, but headed for the market.  "Onii-chan wait!" She shouted.  The latter turned around the see he serious face of the ice princess.
"Have you already sent the letter to the other princes?" She asked.

Lui just smirked at her knowingly "Of course I did.  I never miss an opportunity to let them know what they're dealing with."  The princess just smirked back and began to walk away.

"Well I'll have you know that perhaps you are underestimating those princes.  Fate is fickle after all." She said with her back turned as she was walking away.  Lui just hummed in reply and began making his way to the market to find his little friend.  He exited the grand palace and strolled through the bustling marketplace outside the castle as he was greeted by the scent of fresh cold wind and warm tasty bread.  He looked for a bit more and saw a flash of yellow and blue.  He looked to his right and found a boy around eleven with blond hair and blue highlights, blue and yellow robes with a red belt, and white shoes.  His name was Dante Koryu, son of a very close commander to the royal family.

Dante turned his head around and smiled wide when he saw his friend.  "Lui! Lui! Lui!"  He shouted as he ran toward his older friend eventually bumping into him.  The two fell two the fround, but with smiles on their faces.  They talked for a couple of minutes before walking back to the castle.  "Hey Lui, about what you said at the conference a couple of days ago... Are you thinking of joining the alliance or not?" Dante asked.  His peridot-colored eyes shining in the afternoon light.  Lui just gave a small smile, not seen very often, and replied.

"That depends on what kind of people the others strike me as." He said while taking another bite of bread.

"Well, I know it's not much coming from me, but maybe you should give them a chance?  Besides, you can't judge a bread-roll by it's shape."  He replied.  Lui just laughed and ruffled the younger's hair affectionately as they walked back to the castle, basking in the serene atmosphere.  But he didn't answer Dante's query.  The truth is that he might not give them a chance.  Making friends and being all soft might ruin his image and break down the tall walls his heart worked so hard and so long to build up.

But will it really ruin him though?  Or maybe it will be better than expected...
