Chapter 45

Femi's POV.

"So? You like?" Kunmi said, turning around, to display the gown my mom got for her. I knew she was trying to make me feel jealous cause mom has been giving her special treatment. I wanted to pretend to be jealous, but I couldn't help the smile that stretched across my face the minute I saw her in that crimson red dress.

The dress hugged her body nicely, bringing out her curves and perfect figure which she always hid in slightly baggy jeans and loose tops. The dress was sleeveless and had a lacey and flay finish, and a slit that stopped right below her knees.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, barely holding back the smile that kept stretching across my face.

"Oh my gawd! Is this Kunmi?!" Damola shrieked as he barged into my room like the lunatic he was, his noisy persona filled the entire room, making his presence known.

Kunmi spun to his direction and smiled, and Damola being the imbecile he was; took that as a chance to try to flirt with her.

"Just look at you! So hot! Please na, lemme wife you. I'll do it, I swear" he said, his eyes roaming her body. I could tell Kunmi didn't like the way he was looking at her and immediately eyed him from head to toe, shooting lasers from her eyes.

"Can't you quit being a sophisticated idiot for one second?" She asked, shaking her head amusedly at him.

"Abeg, I'm a man of fast things. I see what I like, and I say so. I hate beating around the bush, that's for cowards. You know? Femi's type of people" he laughed and I threw a pillow at him and he immediately dodged it.

"Meaning?!" I feigned hurt and he laughed.

"Shift jare! I'd didn't come here to see you. I came here to see Kunms" he said, putting his hand around her shoulders.

"But you didn't know she was here in the first place? Liar! Come and be going" I said, getting up to playfully send him out.

"Because of why? Say who die?" He asked, quirking a brow at me. "Shift! Lovers are talking" he said, smiling goofily at Kunmi who immediately chuckled and shrugged his arm off.

"You need wisdom" she said to him.

"Like you have?" He muttered and I laughed, although Kunmi didn't hear him.

"What's funny?" She asked me, plopping on my bed.

"Guy na, don't say anything" Damola whispered to me, pleadingly and I grinned.

"Nothing" I lied and she rolled her eyes. "I'll be right back, I need to change" Kunmi announced as got up from my bed, walked into my bathroom and shut the door.

"How far?" Damola said, plopping on the couch in my room, spreading his long legs, recklessly.

"Why you dey ask? (Why are you asking?)" I replied, playfully hissing at him.

I picked my phone and scrolled through my contact in search of Chioma's. I wanted to speak to her, to know how she's doing and probably just because I wanted to hear her voice again.

Turns out, you end up knowing the value of a moment the minute it becomes a memory.

To be honest, I did miss her constant nagging and her attitude. Although they weren't nice, they still made me laugh at some point and, well, they also reminded me of her. For reasons unknown to me, I actually wanted to see her again.

Tapping on her contact, I listened as it rang. First ring. Second. Third. Fourth...and yet no reply. The line went dead and I wondered if I should call again.

I was about doing just that when Kunmi came out of the bathroom, now wearing her old clothes.

"So...gist me. What happened during my stay at Abuja?" She asked, sitting beside me and I shrugged, excusing myself to make the call elsewhere.

"I'll be back" I muttered and walked into the balcony right next to my room, taking in the fresh air as the call went through. Again, it rang and I still got no answer. After contemplating for a minute or two, I called once more. And on the fourth ring, she finally answered.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hello. Sir...um, it's Amanda. Chioma isn't feeling too well, I answered cause you kept repeatedly calling and I didn't want it to seem like she's ignoring you" she explained and my heart sank at the news of Chioma's health.

"What happened? I mean, Chioma. What happened to her?" I asked, anxiety rushing through my veins.

"It's not too serious but her temperature is really burning up and she's been weak ever since I got here. I met her sleeping on her couch, and when I tried waking her up, I realized her temperature had risen and she looked extremely worn out and tired. Probably from crying" she said that last part solemnly and I couldn't help but ask again, to be sure I heard correctly.

"Crying?" I asked.

"Yes. Her eyes were all puffy when I got here and her nose were reddened too. I know it's just a fever, she should be good by tomorrow or in a few days. I hope" she replied.

"No. Take her to a hospital, it might be worse than that" I insisted.

"But...but she refused. I offered to take her there and she strongly objected and said she only needed to rest. And you know how Chioma can be so stubborn" she replied and I sighed.

She's extremely stubborn indeed.

"Send me her home address in a text. I'm coming over" I replied.

"O...okay" and with that, I hung up and walked into my room. Within, a few seconds, I received a notification of Amanda's text which stated Chioma's home address.

I walked into my walk-in closet and grabbed a pair of black jean shorts and a blue t-shirt. Walking into my bathroom, I immediately changed out of my work clothes and into the ones I'd gotten from my closet. I pulled off my shoes and slipped my feet into my Pam slippers and stepped out of the bathroom.

"Where are you going?" Kunmi asked, tilting her head to the side, a frown slowly appearing to her face.

"To see Chioma" I replied and immediately reached for my keys but then she stopped me.

"Why? I just got here and I intended for us to catch up a little. For crying out loud! Femi, I just got back from Abuja today. Don't I at least get to have you both with me today? Please?" She said, her eyes pleading with me to stay. I wanted to, but I couldn't. And the last thing I wanted was to let Kunmi down.

"I promise, I'll be quick" I replied, trying; once again, to reach for my keys which she immediately snatched from me, again.

"You're not going to see her. You guys aren't even friends, why do you want to go there in the first place? You'd rather go there than spend time with your closest friends? She doesn't even like you! Then why go?" She asked, her eyes burning with anger. Damola noticed this and immediately stepped in.

"Femi, what happened first? Why are you going there?" He asked.

"She's sick and she's refusing to go to the hospital. I'm only going there to help" I replied.

"She won't appreciate it as usual. Why bother? Besides, she doesn't consider you a friend. You're not the only person that can help. She didn't ask, did she? No!" Kunmi said, making sure to stare directly into my eyes.

She obviously wasn't wrong about what she'd said. But she isn't completely right either.

"She may not consider me a friend, but I do consider her mine. And you know I'd never let something bad happen to a friend of mine, just please let me help her. I'll be back on time, I swear!" I pleaded, making eye contact with Damola to help talk some sense into her.

"Kunmi, just let him go. He'll be back, if he doesn't come back on time, I'll personally kill him for you" he tried to explain but she put her hand up, indicating that he'd stop talking.

"Femi, you have to choose. Us or her. She won't appreciate it afterwards, she'd be rude as usual...and most importantly, she'll never say 'thank you' for it. Think about that before ditching you friends for her" she replied, her eyes daring me to say something.

I was tongue-tied at this point. Stuck with my own decision and not wishing to let anyone down. Especially not Kunmi. Damola didn't seem to mind, but she did...she really did.

"Choose, Femi. Chioma, who doesn't even consider you a friend and is so uptight and stuck-up?...Or your friends, who consider you a friend and a brother? The choice is yours" she replied, her voice withholding so much audacity that I looked away in thought.

Kunmi...

Hi guys!
So so sorry for the short chapter. I'll update soon enough, I'm working on another update. So yeah, the second update is out now!! Yayyyyyyyy!!!!

Okay, so down to this chapter. Kunmi is trying something oh. She's trying...I so wanted to slap her, although I'm the writerπŸ˜‚ But let's not be too quick to judge. Think about it, be real, no lie.

If you were Kunmi, would you have done the same? Just be real.

Imagine, having a friend like Femi and he's ditching you for someone who doesn't even like him or consider him a friend. Will you feel bad?

Lemme just be real, I'll feel bad, yes (somehow)... but I won't stop him from going too.

Kunmi is being selfish in my own opinion, please comment what you thought of her action. And what are your guesses? Will Femi agree?

Okay, thanks for reading, loves❀️❀️❀️

Till my next update,
Bye...
