Chapter 33
Femi's POV.
I got the clothes for Chioma and was about heading home when my conscience began to prick me concerning Kunmi. I was worried about her and as a true friend, it won't be nice of me to go home and act like nothing happened. And so I decided to see her before heading home.
On arriving at her place, I parked my car at the parking lot and got down. I walked towards the entrance and knocked softly and after a few more minutes of knocking, the door finally came open revealing one of their maids who smiled at me.
"Welcome sir" she said and I nodded in response, also returning the smile.
"Um, I'm here to see Kunmi. Please let her know that I'm here" I said to her and she nodded in understanding.
"Sure, I will. Please come in" she said once more, putting a small smile in her face and stepping aside to let me in.
"Thank you" I replied as I walked into the well furnished and air-conditioned living room. The walls were all covered in exquisite yet artistic abstracts in blue and black and a glass, round centre table which sat in the middle of the living room. With off-white colored plush couches and and black abstract patterned cushions. A big, bright chandelier hung on the ceiling, brightening up the entire living room in a tender white glow. The black tiles and the TV set both complimented each other with the portraits of the family members which hung on the walls, bringing life into the room.
I sat down on the couch, waiting patiently for Kunmi to arrive. It took a few minutes before the maid returned and I immediately let out a sigh of relief.
"Sir, she...she said she's busy. And that you should come back tomorrow" the maid said, her head bowed low.
Of course I'm not taking no for an answer. I came all the way here to see her and that's what I'll do, whether she likes it or not.
"Her parents? Where are they?" I asked.
"In their bedroom but only her mother is around right now, sir hasn't returned yet and Dante left with his friends an hour ago" she replied and I ran a hand through my hair and let out a sigh once more.
"Mind if I meet her upstairs?" I blurted and she shook her head vehemently.
"Sir, please don't go up. She asked that you leave, I might get into trouble if you do" she replied.
"Don't worry nau. Trust me, I'll handle her. You know how she is, she doesn't stay angry for too long. Just let me see her, please?" I replied, hoping she'd agree. She looked like she was thinking about it and finally nodded her head affirmatively.
"Thank you" and with that, I raced upstairs to her room. Getting to her bedroom door, I knocked gently and awaited her reply.
"Who's that?" She asked yet I refused to respond, knowing that she'd refuse to open the door if she knew I was the one knocking.
"I said who's that?" She asked once more yet I didn't reply. I knocked once more and I could hear her hiss from inside and the clinking of her crutches was heard from inside as she approached the door.
"Don't you have a name?!" She screamed, her voice a bit closer than before which only meant that she was about to open the door.
"Are you...?" She choked on her words the minute she saw me, I shot her a smile and she looked away.
"Femi, I said you should come tomorrow. I'm not feeling well" she lied, I could tell cause she couldn't look me in the eye.
"You're lying" I replied, leaning on her door post with my arms crossed in front of my chest.
"Leave" she said solemnly as she tried shutting the door, but I was quick enough to put my foot in the way.
"Femi, go home or I'll__" I didn't let her complete her sentence, I slid into her room through the space created by my foot.
"You're not meant to be in here" she shrieked in a low voice.
"Why? Haven't I come here a thousand times? Abeg, free me jare!" I replied as I plopped on her bed and patted the space beside me. "Come sit" I said and she hissed.
"No"
"Because of why?" I quirked a brow at her.
"Femi, I'm tired. I want to sleep, tomorrow nau" she whined.
"Oya, come. Sleep next to me, I won't disturb you as long as I make sure you're no longer mad at me" I smiled at her and she sighed, walking towards the bed and plopping beside me.
"I wasn't mad at you, just...pissed" she said and I rolled my eyes.
"What's the difference?" I asked, placing her head on my lap.
"You won't understand" she muttered as she shut her eyes in thought.
"Wanna talk about it?" I asked solemnly, noticing her sudden change of mood and she shook her head, no.
"Fine then, I'll watch you sleep then I'll go. We'll talk about it some other time, that okay?" I smiled down at her, although her eyes were still closed.
"Yeah, I guess" she muttered with a small smile playing on her lips.
"You know? I have been thinking about something lately. Wanna know?" I said, out of the blue.
"No" she replied boldly.
"Nah, I'm sure you want to. So here's the thing, me, you and Damola over at my place in Saturday next week. What d'you say? It's a good idea, right?" I asked, expectantly.
"No, hate it, don't ever think about it again" she replied bluntly and I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Why?"
"I'm leaving with my mom soon. We're going to Abuja for a wedding ceremony and I might stay there longer than expected" she said and choked on my words.
"You're joking, right?" I asked in disbelief.
"I'm not. Now, let me sleep in peace" she said and I huffed in annoyance.
"Kunms," I called out, softly.
"Yeah?" She mumbled, feeling a bit sleepy.
"Please," I paused and sighed. "Please don't ever change from the person I've always known. If there's something I did and it made you upset, then just tell me and I'll change and apologise. Okay?" I asked and she smiled.
"I'll try" she murmured before slowly falling asleep.

Chioma's POV.
Everything that had earlier happened today began to flood my head. A rush of emotions filled my entire being as I lay on my back on the plush white cotton bed covered with floral printed beddings. I stared at the ceilings and began to clench and unclench my fists. I miss everyone at home, including my father. I miss Amara the most, dang! I miss the mansion and everything in it. I don't even want to stay here, why should I live in someone else's house when I have mine?
It's still his fault!
Dad shouldn't have kicked me out. It was unnecessary, I admit I made a mistake but it didn't amount to getting kicked out. What kind of father does that?
A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts and I sat up and wiped the forsaken tears that streamed down my cheeks.
"Come in" I said, in a slightly audible whisper.
And then the door came open and Femi walked in, wearing a goofy grin on his face.
Of course! He's happy, his life isn't falling apart, he can still smile like that while I can't even do the same, even if I try to.
"Hey, hey, hey! Miss me?" He grinned as he plopped on my bed beside me, placing the bags he had in his hands on the floor.
"No" I muttered as I scooted away from him.
"Ah-ah! Do I smell bad? Why are you shifting away from me nau?" He asked, looking me in the eye like he was trying to read through my emotions.
"These are the clothes, right?" I asked, avoiding his gaze and ignoring the looks he kept giving me and his previous statement.
"Yeah" he finally said after a short pause, staring at the ceiling instead.
"Chioma, you were crying. Right?" He asked, turning his head away from the ceiling to look at me.
"No, now leave. I'd like to freshen up now" I replied, getting up from the bed but he grabbed my hand and held me back.
"Sit down here abeg. I know I don't smell bad jor, so stop trying to run away from me oh. Or else..." He smirked and I raised an inquisitive brow at him.
"Or else what? Femi, this is not the time to display just how idiotically endowed you are. I don't have time for your childish arguments or for you in fact. Now go, I need my personal space" I said, getting up once more but he pulled me back, making sure I was closer to him now.
"You know eh? I've always wanted to know what'll happen if you're nicer to me, will you die? Maybe if I tickle you, you'll be nicer. I've always wondered if that would tame you, would it?" he asked, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. I rolled my eyes at him and he laughed.
"I've always know you don't have sense but today you've proved to me that you don't even own a brain to begin with. Now ge__" I was interrupted by the sound of his laughter.
"See this one oh?!" He laughed once more. "You say that like you actually posses one, we both know you don't" he grinned and my eyes twitched.
Did he just...? Did he just say that to me?!
"You're stupid! You're extraordinarily crazy! In fact, you're a psychotic douchebag!" I spat out. "I have a Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery and___" he yawned extensively, interrupting me. I know he did that on purpose, he was trying to spite me.
"What was that for?" I asked, pissed at his behavior.
"Ah-ah! I cannot just yawn again? I have to ask for permission? Your boring speech drained every ounce of strength in me"he asked, looking all innocent when he clearly isn't. The diabolical ape did that on purpose! To annoy me!
"Let go of me, now!" I said through gritted teeth, glaring at his hand which was still on mine.
"Why na? Is my hand cold? Do you need me to hug you instead?" He asked and I glared at him and pulled my hand away from his grip, getting up to leave.
"Alaye come back here jor!" He yelled, getting up from the bed and pulling me back.
"Let me__"
"Shhhh! You talk too much. For once close your mouth and swallow your words" he smiled and I glared at him even harder, projecting missiles of rage his way.
"Get__" I choked on my words the minute he tickled me around my ribcage area.
The nerves of this guy! The mentally deranged chimpanzee dared to do that!
"Are you mad?!" I shrieked as I punched him in the gut but it didn't seem to have any impact on him and so I did it again, and again before he finally burst into fits of laughter.
"She's forming John Cena for me! What a disgrace! Anthony Joshua like me! Undertaker like me! Choi! See insult!" He ranted as he laughed. "Chioma, don't even try it oh. I'm a deadly skull crusher, the number bone breaker. Ask Damola how I broke his leg last year, ask him how far. No try me oh" he said, grinning from ear to ear.
"Oh, shut up! Keep giving yourself false hope and getting inspired by stupidity" I said and walked away but he dragged me back.
"Lack of respect ni? I will show you" and he continued tickling me. I lost it, I was ready to punch the life out of him but then I couldn't cause I began to laugh. Much to my dismay.
"Femi, stop!" I yelled through laughter and chuckles. But he continued and grinned as he did, enjoying the torture of making me laugh against my will.
"Stop!" I yelled again as tears gathered up in my eyes due to the excessive and involuntary laughter, I was running out of breath and getting tired.
"Femi, stop!" I yelled once more but he didn't heed to my words.
"I said STOP!" I yelled out of anger and frustration and did the only thing I could think of; I punched him so hard on the nose and he let go of me, nursing his throbbing nose and then the door came open, revealing Femi's mother.
"Femi you__" she swallowed her words the minute Femi turned to look at her with trickles of blood running down his nose.
"What happened here?!" She shrieked...
