Chapter 17

Chioma's POV.

I stepped out of the bathroom with my towel wrapped around my slim figure. I can't believe I'm actually going out with Femi! Why on Earth is the universe letting this happen?! I can't seem to escape this.

I decided that I won't put in effort in looking my best so he doesn't think I'm getting all dressed up for him, to try to impress him. Heck no! I just selected a simple pink dinner gown with an off-shoulders design and a flay finish. It was looking simple but not quite. It's really expensive though and yet so nice and simple. I chose this cause, this wasn't even a proper date. I was forced into going out with Femi. If I had my way, I'd object a thousand times.

I finally put on my dress and my silver wedges. I packed my braids up in a tight bun and applied some makeup, but light makeup though. Once I was done with that, I stared at myself in my full-length mirror. I was looking nice but yet simple. Heaven knows that I'd never dress like this for a proper date. Especially if it is with someone I really like. But unfortunately, it's just Femi. No big deal.

I was about putting on my necklace and earrings when I heard my phone ringing in my silver purse, the one I was taking with me. I immediately knew that Femi was already here. So I didn't bother picking up until I was done putting on my jewelry and then adding some finishing touches. By the time I was done, I grabbed my phone to see seven missed calls from Femi. I sighed and shoved my phone into my purse. I wasn't going to call him back, after all, I'm done preparing so I'll just meet him outside.

"So this is what you went with?" Mom asked as I got downstairs. I didn't reply her, I just greeted her and left. I was in no mood for her to give me outdated fashion advice. Oh puh-leese!

"Took you long enough" he said as I got to his car. I won't lie, his car was actually nice. But I won't say that out loud, not even to save my head of course.

"So that's what you'd like to say to me? Anyway, it's not like I was even expecting you to be charming. Annoying as always" I said as I eyed him, to spell out the words: " I don't like you".

"Jeez! I'm sorry, okay?" He smirked. "You look amazing. Simple but beautiful, just the way I like it" he said and I shot him a glare.

So he likes it?
Why do I even care?

" Whatever," I muttered. "Won't you open the door for me?" I replied sharply, giving him the stink eye.

"Um, didn't you say you weren't expecting me to be charming? And that this isn't supposed to be romantic, if I open the door for you, wouldn't that go against all you've said to me today?" He said, with a smirk on his face. He was really looking...good. I hate to say it, but it's true. He was putting on a black Gucci t-shirt and black jeans. He also wore a simple gold chain and a nice pair of white sneakers. And he also wore a white Gucci face cap. And with that smirk on, he was looking...I won't say it!

"Are you done checking me out?" He asked and I immediately felt embarrassed.

"I wasn't even checking you out, you moron!" I said, opening the car door and getting in.

"Suit yourself then, but I guess you have a thing for morons. Since you were obviously checking me out" he said, his smirk still on his face, as he got into the car too. He didn't come with any escorts or something. He came alone, and to think he's the son of a very rich senator like Senator Tobi Omashola. He acts like his father isn't so rich.

What a weirdo!

* * *
Femi's POV.

I was surprised that she was looking so simple. I thought she loved looking her best, but I was proven wrong when she came out dressed in a simple _ yet beautifulΒ  _ pink dress. She looked amazing, I really must admit. But that doesn't mean that she has changed.

As we drove off to the restaurant, I couldn't help but steal a few glances at her. She kept pouting and pursing her lips in a very funny but cute manner.

God! If only she was nicer and friendlier. God knows I would have gone for her, cause truth be told, Chioma is really pretty.

Her only flaws were that she's proud, arrogant, rude and spoilt.

And as far as where we are going to is concerned, I decided to take her to the restaurant where we first had to go through the misfortune of bumping into each other. It's a nice restaurant and she should love it since she was there that day.

Finally, we arrived at the restaurant and I drove into the parking lot and parked my car. She didn't even waste time to get down from the car, her pout was still very visible.

"Can you stop doing that already?" I said to her, trying to stiffen my chuckle.

"Doing what exactly?" She shot at me with her eyes throwing daggers and swords my way.

"Pouting. Why are you pouting? You want to show the entire world that we are not happy to be here? Or you're just doing that to upset me, right?" I asked and she shook her head with a chuckle.

"I'm pretty sure everyone can tell we are not happy to be here. After all, we are having this argument in the open" she said and I heaved a frustrated sigh and forced a very fake smile to appear on my face.

"Well, smile sweetheart. So they don't think I kidnapped you or something. Plus, you are just acting like a child by doing that" I said and she glared at me.

"First, don't call me sweetheart and second, I don't have to smile when I'm clearly not happy" she said, still glaring at me.

"Well then, don't. You'll only get old faster than we all expected. Keep frowning and more wrinkles will appear quicker than I had earlier presumed" I said and she hissed at me and eyed me.

"I hate you" she said to me with a glare and a distasteful hiss.

"Well, I hate you more sweetie. And no, I'll keep calling you sweetheart. As long as you keep that frown on your face" I laughed and she glared daggers at me. " Let's go" I said as I walked into the restaurant and she grudgingly followed.

Once inside, we were about taking a seat _ which I had earlier reserved _ but then I saw someone I thought I shouldn't see for as long as I live.

"Jade?" I unconsciously said out loud.

"Ebuka?" I could hear Chioma say beside me. I looked at her and saw that she had already clenched her fists through gritted teeth.

"You know him?" I asked, referring to the guy that sat opposite Jade. They seemed to be on a date.

"He's my ex" she said.

I heaved a tired sigh. "And the girl he's sitting with is mine too" I said and she looked at me, surprise was very evident in her eyes.
