Chioma's POV.

To say I was scared was an understatement. After what happened to that girl from the hospital, I've not been myself and although I hate to say it; I actually feel bad for her.

Flashback...

Seb was about entering avenue street with me at the back seat, watching out for her stupid car. We were just about entering her street when a black Camry rode towards her car with great speed and blocked the girl's car. Before we knew what was going on, the armed robbers got down from the car and forcefully made the girl to get down from her car. The next thing I know was that they pointed a gun to her head and then I ordered Seb to take me home before they actually sight our car. We saw what happened but I was too scared to do anything or call the police. I don't even know if they killed her or not.

"Ma'am, we should have contacted the police. They might kil--"

"Shut up and take me home, and remember to never ever mention this to anyone or else I'll make sure you lose your job" I warned Seb, cutting him off.

"Yes ma'am" he said and then drove off.

~~~
I feel really awful and guilty. I shouldn't have gone home without at least contacting the police. I might be a bit selfish--oh...Kay, a lot selfish--but still, I have a heart. What if they actually killed her? I mean, I wanted to teach her a lesson not kill her. I just wanted to confront her and maybe give her a beating or something but not to have her dead at least.
My phone rang beside me and I shrieked a little, snapping out of my reverie. I picked up my phone and checked the caller's ID, it was Amanda.
"Hey babes...what's going on?" She said and I took a deep breathe, to calm my nerves, before speaking.
"I-I-I'm okay. I was just...em, I was just resting" I replied.
"You sound down. What's wrong? How did the interview go?" She asked and that made me remember the girl again.
"It went well...I guess. Okay, it's a lie. It was awful!" I blurted out.
"What happened?" Amanda asked and I told her all that had happened at the hospital, including the part about that girl's rude attitude and then the last part of seeing her being attacked by armed robbers and not doing a thing about it.
"Chioma, how could you?! That's wickedness na" she shrieked and I sighed in frustration. Of course I know that! That's why I'm feeling guilty...
"Don't you think I know that?!" I yelled in frustration.
"Abeg don't shout at me oh, as it is now I already have a huge headache. And I wouldn't want you to add to my headache" she said all matter-of-fact-ly.
"Whatever. So what are you doing?" I decided to change the topic.
"Working" she said in a 'duh' tone.
"Oh...Kay" I dragged "so afterwards you'll be free na" I said.
"Yeah...but first I think you have to find out if that girl is still alive" Amanda said something which I dreaded to hear.
"Amanda, please. I don't want to talk about that. I feel super stressed whenever I remember that. So what if she's dead? Do you expect me to turn myself over to the police? I did nothing wrong and I'd like if you'd stop reminding me about that incident" I said, feeling really stressed.
"Chioma, that won't change the fact that you actually did something wrong. I'm not saying you should turn yourself over to the police, that would be really stupid of you, but all I'm saying is that you at least tell the person all that you saw, something that will help them find those men. That way you'll be able to get rid of the guilt you feel" she said and I thought about it for a while.
"Well, I'll think about it. Talk to you later" I said and hung up before she could say anything.
"Folake! Folake!! Where's that stupid maid?!" I yelled after one of the maids. The only one which I actually bothered to know her name.
"Fola-" before I could complete her name, she knocked on the door.
"Come in" I said and she walked into the room.
"Where were you?!" I yelled at her, looking for reasons to transfer my aggression on her.
"I-I was in the kitchen ma'am" she stammered.
"So that's why you won't answer to your name, right?! You're now growing wings
abi?" I yelled and she stuttered in fear.
"S-sorry ma'am. It won't happen again" she said and I eyed her from head to toe.
"Go get me something to eat. Make me some fried yam and egg sauce, make sure you use enough tomatoes and green peppers too. Also make sure the yam isn't burnt and that it's slightly golden brown" I ordered and she nodded and left the room.
I lay on my bed and let out an exhausted sigh, digging my hands into my hair in frustration. Why do I feel so guilty?! I normally don't care about anything. Especially about someone I hate cause I'm sure I hate that girl.
I closed my eyes and soon I was fast asleep, forgetting that I had asked Folake to make something for me to eat.
Femi's POV.
I drove into Allen avenue and met a crowd of people surrounding Kunmi's now unconscious body. She must've bled so much that she fainted.She had blood on her clothes and it looked like she was beaten up, her legs were also bruised and looked like they were fractured.Β
I carried her into my car ignoring all the questions and comments a lot of people were asking and making. One thing I hate with most Nigerians, they see that someone's hurt and needs help and instead of helping they just stand there making stupid remarks and comments including exclamations such as ewo! Ehya! and the likes. It irks me to the marrows but right now I don't have time for them, all I care about is my friend.
I drove to the hospital in haste but due to the terrible Lagos traffic, I had to waste a good amount of time on the road. Finally, I got to the hospital and drove in. I parked my car carelessly at the lot and got down. With the help of two nurses nearby, they were able to take Kunmi into the hospital with a stretcher.
"What happened to her?" The receptionist asked as I got into the hospital.
"She was attacked, I don't really know who's responsible for it. All I know is that she was attacked" I replied and the receptionist nodded.
"Are you two related? I mean is she your sister or your wife or girlfriend?" She asked and I told her she was my friend.
"Sir, you'll have to contact her family or someone that's related to her. They'll need to sign a few documents" she informed and I immediately got my phone out of my pocket and contacted her brother, Dante. The only person which I was really close to in her family.
"What happened to her?" He asked and I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time.
"For Pete's sake man, I don't know! Just get here quick!" I said before giving him theΒ  address of the hospital and hanging up.
"Sir, I have news about your friend. Please follow me to my office" the doctor said and I followed him. What's wrong with Kunmi? I hope it's nothing too serious.
