                 ITS BEEN SIX LONG MONTHS since Gillian Wagner's step - dad, the only father she's ever known, died from complications related to liver cancer. Still in shock, she's not sure how she'll move on. How to properly grieve the loss. While helping her mother pack some of his things, she finds a series of letters postmarked to a  Japanese town called Sannoh. 

                 WHEN SHE GETS TO SANNOH, she's unsure of where to begin in searching for answers about the kind of person her step - father was, having only two clues to go off of: a man named Tatsuya and a leather jacket with the symbol of the Mugen Racing Team on the back. Other than that, and her fluency in the Japanese language, she's got nothing. Nowhere to stay, no knowledge of S.W.O.R.D and no connections in town.

                 IT'S DUMB LUCK THAT SHE STUMBLES UPON the Itokan diner, and Sannoh Rengokai. A sheer miracle that Cobra and Yamato know all the ins and outs of Mugen and are willing to help her, and that Tetsu is giving her a place to stay. But in her quest for answers, all she finds are more questions. Who the hell are the Iemura Group, and why did her step dad have anything to do with them? What was her step - dad involved with that made him leave Sannoh? And all these questions put Gilly in more danger than she's prepared to face.
