「 Two weeks later 」

"We have a long drive ahead of us! We should be there by this afternoon if we get on the road now." Caroline tells the twins, who were sleepily walking over to her with fluffy blankets. They both nod at her when her words register in their heads. "Go get in the car, my girls. You can go back to sleep then." Both girls nod and quietly walk to the car and get in. They both immediately go back to sleep.

It is currently 4:45 am on a Thursday morning; it's moving to NOLA day. Caroline, her daughters, and her best friend Bonnie Bennet are going to New Orleans permanently. Well, Bonnie isn't staying permanently. Bonnie is going to travel with her, spend a month in New Orleans and then start her traveling around the world.

Bonnie had promised her late boyfriend Lorenzo "Enzo" St. John that she would live her life to the fullest when he died. She is holding up that promise by traveling as she has always wanted too.

Caroline looks over at Bonnie who just pulled up to Caroline's house. Bonnie smiles and walks inside of Caroline's house to greet her. "Are we ready Caroline?" She asked her friend, who she knew is struggling with seeing someone she thought she wouldn't have to see again until a few centuries later.

Bonnie was shocked when she was told Elena was the one who suggested she go to Klaus. Bonnie didn't think she would be going to him on Elena's request of all people, because Elena hated the man. He had killed her aunt Jenna, turned Tyler into a hybrid, killed Tyler's mom, used Elena, and made Stefan become a ripper by turning his emotions off by compulsion.

So, she knows Elena didn't want Caroline near him, but Elena had told herself (and Caroline and Bonnie) that it was the best for Caroline. Caroline needs him, and if that's what brings Caroline happiness, Elena had to tolerate it.

Caroline brings herself back to her best friend and smiles at her. "No, I'm not ready. But I need this Bonnie, and the girls do too. Maybe Klaus' daughter could help them and Klaus can help me." Bonnie nods at her words and smiles brightly. "We have a long, long drive. Have you had breakfast?" Caroline asks, making sure her friend was good to go and stepping into control. The thing she is best at.

Bonnie nods with a roll of her eyes, "Yes Care. Now come on, we have to leave if we want to make it to NOLA by this afternoon." Caroline immediately makes sure they have everything and then nods at the movers who had helped them put everything in the U-Haul, following them to New Orleans.

They get in their cars, starting them.

Caroline calls Bonnie after plugging up her phone to her charger, putting her on Bluetooth connect, and begins driving to New Orleans.

To him.

Caroline stops the car in front of the house she bought. Well, it was more like a mansion instead of a house. Bonnie pulls in right beside Caroline, and is staring, her eyes wide. Bonnie gets out of her car at the same time as Caroline and the girls, walking around to meet them.

Caroline knew what the rooms inside the house looks like, but the girls and Bonnie didn't because she kept it a secret, wanting it to be a surprise.

She grins at Bonnie as she places her hand on her shoulder. "Standards peaked?" She asks, smirking when all Bonnie could do was nod.

Josie and Lizzie both squeal at the sight of the huge house in front of them, and both girls turn to their mother.

"Mom! It's as big as a castle!" Lizzie smiles widely, and Josie nods and points at her sister, agreeing with her words.

"Is this our house?" Josie asks her mother and Caroline nods.

"It's all for us girls. It belongs to us now."

Both girls hug their mother and Caroline invites Bonnie into the hug with an open arm.

Bonnie smiles at the thought of being in a new city with her best friend and nieces as she joins the hug. It's amazing already and they haven't even been inside their house yet.

"Caroline this house is. . ." Bonnie trails off and Caroline grins.

"I know, I saw it and knew that it was for us! And get this, it has a movie theater!"

Bonnie looks at her shocked. "Wait, what? A movie theater?"

Caroline grins again, nodding her head and grabbing her bags while Bonnie grabs hers and the movers take the girls' from the car and take them into the foyer of the plantation.

While the twins go to find their rooms, Caroline and Bonnie explore the first floor of the mansion.

"Care, can I uh, ask you something?" Bonnie asked Caroline as she stood just ahead of her examining the living room and the kitchen.

"Of course Bon. What's up?" She asked, turning her body to face her and Bonnie sighed softly.

"What happens now? I mean, what happens when we see them? And I still love him. That never went away. I know you're friends with him, and I mean we still text and call everyday, but. . . I don't want to make it awkward between you and Klaus." Bonnie sighs and Caroline smiles at her.

"I know for a fact that if you still love him, Bonnie, you can't give up on him. I happen to have it on good authority that he still wants you,so. . ." she smiles at Bonnie's wide eyes. "As for the awkwardness part, it's already going to be there. It's been thirteen years since I have seen Klaus in person, and I'm just suddenly showing up in the city he calls himself the king of? The one he invited me to with first class tickets after graduation? I mean, come on. What do you think Klaus will do when he sees me? I mean. . .what if he moved on?" Caroline is rambling and she knows it. Her insecurities are taking her over again and she hates it. She knows she is being silly, but she can't help but think that Klaus didn't actually mean the promise he made to her on her graduation night.

"He's your first love. I intend to be your last. However long it takes." Klaus had said to her the night of her graduation from Mystic Falls High school.

That was the night that he had told her Tyler was allowed to come back home to Mystic Falls. Tyler didn't come home until a few months after because he was going around with Hayley finding wolf packs that needed help turning on the full moon. Tyler only came back every so often, and it left Caroline lonely even when she was surrounded by her best friends. Eventually it all became too much for Caroline to handle and she snapped. She broke up with him before he had the chance to break up with her, and tells him she never wanted to see him again. It worked like a charm, and he left Mystic Falls once more.

Bonnie sighs. "I know Care. And trust me. You know how Klaus looks, hell, will still look at you. We all did. When he sees you all he will want to do is either shove you against a wall taking what's his or say in his, as you put it, fancy pants British accent, 'Hello Love' Or something along the lines of that. Like he has always done." Bonnie says, imitating Klaus' accent terribly. She starts walking up the stairs, bringing Caroline out of memory lane as she pulls her along. "He loves you Care. He always has. I may not have liked him, but you were the only one he didn't fully hurt or kill. You changed him Care." She says and she opens a solid oak door.

It looks like a room made for a princess, and Bonnie immediately looks at Caroline for permission and once it's granted, goes inside.

"I have to go find my room, I'll find you later, and then you, me, and the girls will go into the city. Sound good?" Caroline asks, and Bonnie nods as she goes and flops down onto her bed.

Caroline walks down the hallway that is full of golden accents. She runs her fingers along a long table that occupies the right side of the hallway. It goes all the way down the hallway and looks to be made out of cherrywood.

She smiles as she walks into a room. She recognizes it as the master bedroom and she vamp speeds downstairs and grabs her bags and vamp speeds back to her room and puts them down on her bed.

The curtains sitting against the window that's on the right side of the room are light pink and the bed has a soft white comforter with a pink fluffy throw blanket thrown across it.

Two stools have been placed in front of the bed, and are a cream white, with a brown cushion. They each have a tiny white pillow on top of them.

She looks to her left and sees a dresser with a 'C' carved into the first drawer. She looks at it curiously for a few seconds and then shakes her head.

Two hours later Caroline and Bonnie are getting ready to go venture into the chaos of New Orleans. Bonnie and Caroline both wanted to find a bar to go have a drink or two in. A good one. Not that the Mystic Grill was terrible or anything, the alcohol was just. . . cheap.

The twins opted to stay at the house to explore their surroundings and unpack, telling their mother and aunt they'll be fine and won't cause any trouble.

They made it into the French Quarter about ten minutes later. One of the busiest places in all of New Orleans was the French Quarter, Kol had explained once. She hadn't believed him until he'd facetimed her and showed her what it was like during the day.

"Bon, look! It's a bar that sounds at least a little decent. I mean the Mystic Grill's bar is alright, but it's not the best-tasting liquor in the world, is it?. I mean, really. Who sells the absolute cheapest Bourbon in a town staple?" Caroline groans, walking into the bar they found, pulling Bonnie along. The name of the bar they found is Rousseau's and is packed with people.

"No, you're right. The bourbon in the Grill isn't great," Bonnie laughs as they make their way over to the bar.

A blonde bartender comes over to them once they are seated. "Heya! My name is Camille, but you can call me Cami. What can I get ya today?"

Bonnie looks over at Caroline and smirks. "Two bourbons please." She tells Camille, and the drinks are brought to them.

"Let's see how these taste, yeah?" Bonnie teases her blonde friend.

"Let's make a toast. To new beginnings!" Caroline says, and Bonnie clinks her glass to Caroline's.

"To new beginnings."

Caroline hears a very high-pitched squeak, and looks over to see Camille looking at someone behind her. "Oh great, a fanclub for a guy?" Caroline rolls her eyes again.

Bonnie rolls her eyes, before she looks up, meeting blue eyes. Her jaw drops open at the sight of the guy Camille squeaked at and tapped Caroline's shoulder. "Uh, don't freak, but he's here, Caroline."

Caroline tenses up beside her when she hears him speak to her for the first time in thirteen years.

"Caroline?"
