THE BIRTH: PART ONE

Stella and Stefan thought they had more time before the babies arrival. They thought they would be coming next week but the babies had other plans. It was a normal day at Salvatore-Carter residence. Stella was making breakfast, Stefan was getting ready for work, he was gonna check on the restaurant but he would be coming back later. Derek was playing with Hope. Food was serve but Stefan was still in the room. Derek walked in the kitchen and saw Stella eating a bagel while texting someone.

"Thanks for telling me the food was ready" Derek said sarcastically as he sat down. She grinned at her best friend. "You're welcome, bestie" the vampire rolled his eyes and began to eat. A few minutes later Stefan walked down, kissed his fiancée and took Hope from Derek. "I'm only gonna be gone for an hour or two. Nick and Ro need help with the orders and the checks" Stella nodded. "Tell them to come visit me. I miss them" Stefan nodded. They chatted until Stefan had to leave. Derek knew he wasn't really going to the restaurant. Well, he was only to let Nick and Ro know he was getting the engagement ring.

Stefan kissed her one last time. "See you in bit. Love you" before she could reply Derek beat her to. "Love you too, honey" Stella glared at him. Derek and Stella heard Stefan laugh. Derek and Stella passed the time by going to the park. It was a good idea until Derek's ex showed up. "Witch bitch alert" Stella mutter but Derek heard her. He looked at her and she looked the other way trying to discreetly show him who she was talking about. And on the other side of the park stood Alicia Blake. Derek's evil ex. According to Stella of course. Alicia used to be sort of nice, she had met Derek through Stella. They had both gone to college together and they became fast friends. There was only a problem. Alicia had always felt threatened by Stella. Stella was more kinder and nice. Alicia was cold and manipulative. She wasn't the nicest person but she was tolerable.

"Let's just ignore her" Stella told him. The reason of the breakup was simple, she cheated. Multiple times. Derek was with Hope while Stella sat on a nearby bench with the ring Stefan had given her. It was a promise ring. He was getting the right ring that day. Alicia spotted Stella sitting down and watching Derek play with a little girl. Alicia got angry and became even angrier when she saw Stella touch her pregnant belly.

Alicia truly believe Stella was carrying Derek's child and that baby Hope was also Derek's, especially when Hope had bluish/green eyes. Derek watched Stella who just smiled. At some point he had feelings for her but since he was being stubborned and denying his feelings for her, he went for Alicia, leaving an open door for Klaus who didn't waste time and swooped in. In the end the vampire and the witch were left heartbroken. One cheated and the other left. They were there for each other but nothing else came out more than a stronger friendship. Derek walked over to Stella and they sat down together and talked.

Alicia decided to "say" hello. "Stella Carter" she said as she approached them. Stella rolled her eyes when she heard Alicia's fake voice. She knew it was fake. "Alicia" Stella greeted her with a fake smile. "Derek" Alicia said but he ignored her. "You can't ignore me forever" she added but Derek didn't say anything. "So, how you been?" Alicia said trying to make conversation. "Great. Moved to New York a while ago, opened a restaurant and well, I have a kid another two on the way" she smiled than smirked. "I'm engaged now" Alicia's eyes widened in surprise. She didn't see the ring until she looked at Stella's hand. "Congratulations" she said through gritted teeth. "It's a beautiful ring, don't you think?" Stella asked. It was more to piss her off but it was fun. "Oh yeah. Beautiful" Alicia replied with a fake voice and smile. Derek rolled his eyes. He always hated how fake Alicia was.

"What about you, Derek? Any poor woman making a mistake?" Alicia taunted him making his best friend angry. Derek was about to reply but Stella beat him to it. "Yes. Me. But, on the contrary, he makes me happy. Sometimes you just got to be loyal and appreciate the man you love" Stella sassily replied. It looks could kill, Stella would having tea with Lucifer. Derek couldn't lie and say he didn't enjoy the look on Alicia's face. She looked defeated. Derek knew it was a lie but he want along with it. He held Stella's hand and she let him. He grabbed Hope and put her in her stroller. Stella stood up. "Well, I would love to stay here and catch up but Derek and I have to go" Stella said as she grabbed Derek's arm and walked away.

Once they were far enough the two best friends started laughing. "Ugh, did you see her face?" Stella asked Derek who couldn't stop laughing. "Yes. And it was epic" once again they burst out laughing. But suddenly, Stella stopped. "Stella? What's wrong?" Derek asked, clearly worried. "Derek?" he nodded. "Call Stefan and an ambulance" she told him. He gave her a confused look. "My water just broke" Derek pulled out his phone and began to call nine-one-one. After he was told the ambulance was on his way he called Stefan. Stella was laughing at Derek. Let's just say he didn't do well under pressure. Stefan and Stella's babies were own the way. The new additions were ready to see the world.
