Chapter Five

Chapter Five

The sun was unbearably bright as Tatum knocked on Jax's door the next afternoon. The dark haired female considered sending him a text and claiming her hangover was too terrible for her to leave the comforts of Cal and Ima's house, but she was curious about why Jax wanted her to come over after going so long without any communication, and you know what they say about curiosity and the cat - It makes a hungover Tatum Reyes go to Jax Teller's house or you know something like that.

Tatum ran a hand through her hair as she waited for Jax to open the door, she could still smell the vodka on her from last night and it made her stomach churn. She hadn't gotten the chance to take a shower before making her way to Jax's. She was too preoccupied spending time with Callie, which meant coloring and watching 'The Little Mermaid' on repeat.

"Hey, darlin'."

A small smile graced Tatum's face once Jax opened the door. It felt weird being at his house after so long and it felt even weirder that he was acting as though no time had passed between them. Maybe she could understand him acting like that if they still were the best friends they once were, but they weren't and it made Tatum feel uneasy.

"Hey, Jax." Tatum said as she stepped into the house.

Tatum's eyes took in her surroundings, the house looked the same as it had three years ago, but that didn't really surprise her. It wasn't like Tatum expected Jax to redecorate his whole house, but she wasn't expecting everything to be the same. The only thing that had changed over the years were a few new pictures that hung on the wall.

"Fuck." She muttered while mentally slapping herself as she stared at one of the newer photos on the wall. It was one of Jax and a small blonde haired boy that was practically his twin. How could Tatum have been so stupid and forgotten Jax had a son, a son he had with Wendy after a one night stand. She remembered getting the call from Jax after Wendy came to the clubhouse telling him she was pregnant, and she remembered getting the call when Wendy overdosed and had Abel ten weeks early. Tatum had remembered it all but she fucking forgot about Abel himself.

"What?" Jax asked with a raised eyebrow as he followed Tatum's line of vision. "He looks just like me, huh?" He asked with a proud smile on his face as he stared at the picture.

Jax would be the first to admit that he wasn't exactly jumping for joy when Wendy told him she was pregnant. It was only suppose to be a one night stand, and he had only fucked her because Tara and him were on a break. Jax slowly adapted to the idea of having a kid, but then Wendy overdosed and Abel was born ten weeks early and with the family flaw, he thought he'd never get a chance to hold his son or see him grow up but Abel was strong and pulled through. Jax loved his son and he'd stop at nothing to keep him safe.

"He's your twin." Tatum said, turning her head to see the proud smile on Jax's face. "Uh, how's Wendy?" The dark haired female asked as she watched the smile drop off of Jax's face and his face harden at her question.

"She's still a fuckin' junkie." Jax spat as he looked away from the picture and at Tatum with hate in his blue eyes. "The only fuckin' good thing she ever did was give me Abel."

The harshness in Jax's voice startled Tatum, and the look of pure hatred in his ocean blue eyes scared her a bit as she nodded her head at his words. She could understand where all the hate and anger towards Wendy came from, but Jax seemed so comfortable in his anger and Tatum could feel the uneasiness rolling around in her stomach and it wasn't because of all the vodka she drank last night either.

"Sorry." Jax apologized, his face softening once he saw the look on Tatum's face. He could tell he had scared her and that was the last thing he wanted to do. Jax wanted to work on repairing their friendship, but he knew he couldn't do that if she was scared of him.

"It's okay." Tatum said while placing a smile on her face. "I'm sorry you had to go through that."

"I had you to go through it with me at least." Jax said with a smile.

When Abel had been born so premature Jax called Tatum right away and asked her to come to Charming, and of course she did without hesitation. Jax had been so thankful for Tatum in the week that she stayed and helped Gemma her his house ready for Abel, because even though Jax thought it was a long shot for his son to survive the two most important women in his life believed he would and that gave him all the hope he needed to believe it too.

"You would do the same for me." She said with a shrug. Tatum wasn't so sure of that though anymore. The Jax Teller standing next to her wasn't the one she had grown up with or was once best friends with, and she wasn't so sure what he would or wouldn't do anymore.

"Of course I would, T." Jax assured firmly. "I'd do anything for you." He said.

Tatum laid down on the bed in Cal and Ima's guest room, exhausted from her day at Jax's. The Reyes woman hadn't gotten any answers like she wanted instead all she got was even more confusion about her father's death. Jax kept promising that SAMCRO was going to handle it, but Tatum didn't understand what or who they had to handle. It was obvious by the way Cal and Jax were talking about a retaliation that Ty James had been murdered but Tatum wanted to know why and by who.

The vibration of Tatum's phone broke her from her thoughts, a bright smile taking over her face as Angel's name appeared on the screen. The dark haired female couldn't wait for her husband to make his way to Charming, she missed everything about him.

"Hi, mi amor." Tatum spoke once she answered the phone. "Everyone okay?" She asked immediately.

"Everyone's whole, mi sol." Angel laughed. "How was Teller's?" He asked while trying not to clench his jaw. Angel hated that Tatum had spent the day at Jax's house, and not because he was jealous of the SAMCRO biker. Angel in no way trusted the man. Especially when it came to Tatum.

"It was fine." Tatum said with a sigh. "He's different." The dark haired female added. "I miss you." She said, not wanting to talk about Jax anymore.

"I miss you too, amor." Angel said with a sigh. "How are you doin'?" He asked.

Angel knew Tatum was holding her pain inside. The only time she cried was the night she found out about her father, then she put a smile on her face and acted like everything was alright, but Angel knew it wasn't and he just wanted Tatum to let her pain out. He knew if she held it in too long it was going to be a disaster when she finally let it all out.

"I'm okay." Tatum said, putting a smile on her face even though she knew Angel couldn't see it.

"Tatum." Angel said with a sigh. He hated that she was trying to be okay when she wasn't. "talk to me mi amor."

"Honestly, I'm okay right now." She said truthfully.

"Okay." He nodded even though Tatum couldn't see him. "I love you."

"I love you too." Tatum said with a smile on her face and in her voice. "Goodnight, husband." She said with a small laugh as she stifled a yawn.

"Goodnight, wife."

Angel ended the call and ran a hand over his hair. He just wanted this run to be over with already so he could be in Charming with Tatum, because he had a feeling in his gut that something bad was about to go down.
